Weight loss injections with ulcerative colitis

Has anyone with ulcerative colitis used weight loss injections? I filled out an eligibility questionnaire online and one of the questions was a history of inflammatory bowel disease which obviously I had to answer yes to and then it said they wouldn’t be able to assist me.
I take daily preventative medication for UC and have done for around 20 years. It works for me and I have zero symptoms, never have flare ups and don’t have to watch my diet. Just wondered really if it’s a general no go to use weight loss injections if you have any kind of IBD? Wondering whether to discuss with my GP or if it’s just a waste of time trying to get an appointment if others have been told it’s a big no.

Thank you.

Speaking as a UC sufferer, there is a lot of misinformation about IBD on this thread. Every reply here is completely anecdotal and should not be taken as medical advice.

If you’re considering starting a weight loss medication, I’d strongly urge you to speak with your IBD care team who can appropriately advise you instead of circumventing online suppliers.

To those stopping IBD medications, it is worth remembering these medications are designed to keep us in remission, not cure us. This disease is no joke and stopping medication can cause relapse and disease progression, which can be a bitch to get under control again.

My advice tell your consultant. That way you will get the support and help you need with regards to MJ. Good luck, hope things get better.

Just to update. I went on MJ in November, as previously mentioned, my UC symptoms stopped almost immediately. I have spoken to my consultant and he has no problem with me having come off meds as having no symptoms. I decided to give my body a break from MJ as I didn't feel it was being as effective. 10 days later and many of my UC symptoms have now returned 😢

Human but they are quite expensive, I'm now with simply on-line pharmacy. I would advise you to get it in writing from your consultant saying no issues with munjaro, no contra indications with trezepatide. I sent a copy for their records and for the dr's to see. It helped them make their decision.

My friends boyfriend tried them with collitus and he couldn’t leave the toilet and had loads of massive flare ups - he had to come off so defo see your gp

I’m not on any meds for my IBD have had a stoma for approaching 10 years and problems with high output and general IbD pain, Mounjaro has really helped calm inflammation and has also made it a lot easier to keep my output better managed

@Swissrollover are you make to DM me the list of prescribers? Also have UC but want to stay on mounjaro at a

I asked my consultant first and they put it in writing that there were no contraindications and mounjaro was fine. This letter I then sent a copy to my prescribers and once they saw the consent from my consultant they were fine. It's always best to tell the truth about your condition. I'm on azathioprine no issues.
