Anyone have 2-3 stone to lose but DOES NOT use injectables

Anyone want a support thread to drop 2-3 stone but finding the ozempic/wegovy etc threads overwhelming on here. They aren't useful to me and there are so many threads on here about the damn stuff.

A previous thread I saw basically said diet and exercise without the injectables would fail for most. I don't want to touch the stuff for a variety of reasons but mainly the hideous side effects and pile on weight when you stop. Not to mention cost.

I'm looking to do it the "old fashioned" way... 1200-1500 calories on my fitness pal and exercise increasing. No particular time limit.

SW: 12 stone 2
I'm really short too so ideally I need to be 10 stone something max

I'm 40 and deffo in perimenopause

I really had no idea how commonplace the injections had become until I looked at the weight loss area here! Losing weight is hard however you do it and I guess for all of us it’s about finding that elusive way that works.

I think I’ve kind of stalled at the moment so it’s time to get back to properly monitoring what I eat and cutting out the treats that have been creeping in.

Corianm · 08/07/2024 03:05

No update. But I did a chore today which normally makes my body ache the night after. But this time…nothing. I’m attributing it to my 25 pound weight loss as and less strain on my body. If so, I’m well pleased!

OneDayIWillLearn · 08/07/2024 07:25

I’ve stuck to weight watchers for 3 weeks now and I’m 6lbs down, and have now achieved my first mini goal which was to get under 13 stone. I’ve still got about 2 stone to go but I’m trying not to think too hard about that objective and how long it might take! It feels good to be in control and eating well, and to be able to start to notice my clothes getting slightly looser.

MadameMassiveSalad · 08/07/2024 07:32

Great job on the losses!
Has anyone tried noom? They have a sale on currently.

Well done! I’ve had a couple of weeks where I have overindulged and gone over my WW points and I have still managed to lose, it’s mad. Love the plan so much.

@Bookmark1111 yes same! Last week I was something like minus 50 and still lost a pound. The other two weeks I’ve used all my weeklies but with quite a lot of guess-timation due to being out and about etc. It just makes me much more conscious about what I’m eating though and means I’m eating so much more fruit/ veg/ meals from scratch, and feels like something it is quite easy to keep up

artant · 08/07/2024 15:58

I’m about a pound up this week which isn’t great but does confirm that I really need to start tracking properly instead of just eating vaguely the same stuff and expecting to lose.

babba2014 · 08/07/2024 21:31

Got the scale out and I have lost some kgs.
I'm happy as we are doing this without any injectables.
I would have lost more if I didn't go on a sugar spree last week when away from home but lesson learnt. I've gone cold turkey with sugar, I do crave it but not so much. Just gotta ride the craving and not give in.

Hi everyone 👋 can I join please?

There are so many threads on here it's a bit bamboozling, but the title of this one is my story. I'm currently 12st 4lbs and need to get to at least 10st.

I know what to do, use MFP, have all the apps/trackers, but my head is a bit of a mess. I just can't get in the game and stay there and recently I'm self-sabotaging an awful lot. My meals are fairly good but snacking is my downfall.

I've read the initial and recent posts and you are all very inspiring so I hope I can get pulled along by you ☺️ and get back into a good mental and physical place. I did very well on a MN thread years ago so I know it's possible.

I weigh daily and I'll update as much as I can, so:
SW: 12st 4lbs
CW: 12st 4lbs
GW: 10st 4lbs (initial goal)

Aim for today is to not eat chocolate or biscuits and stay under 1200 cals.

OneDayIWillLearn · 09/07/2024 11:26

@Atlantic252 I’d recommend the book The Last Diet for getting your head in the right place. I’ve been re-reading it and slowly working through the exercises and it has really helped me with the mental stuff. I also have a strong history of self-sabotaging and this is helping. FWIW I personally find it easier when I’m not trying to go as low as sub 1200 calories - I’m following WW so don’t do calories but I always eat all my points (including weeklies) as well as plenty of fruit/ veg etc. the weight loss is slow and steady but I’m rarely majorly hungry and that makes a big difference to be staying off the snacks.

good luck anyway and look forward to hearing how you get on!

artant · 09/07/2024 13:38

Head in the zone is absolutely key for me. I’ll check out The Last Diet as I need all the help I can get!

This time I'm really sticking to it as I've had enough.
I don't count calories. I just feel it's too complicated for me but just don't over eat.

I've completely cut out snacking. If you do this, hopefully we will see the scales go down.

My lbs have gone up today but I don't know if it's because I ate late. Had no choice. I said I won't weight myself daily but now I just want to see how good times helps with weight.

I won't give up.

artant · 09/07/2024 17:48

I find I am much more likely to stay on track if I weigh myself every day. It also means that if there’s an unexpected gain on a Monday (which I think of as my official weigh-in day) I can understand it better and see the bigger picture.

Atlantic252 · 10/07/2024 08:41

Thank you all for the welcome and I have ordered that book @OneDayIWillLearn - it is not one i had heard of but it looks like just what I need.

Sometimes daily weighing is a double-edged sword for me, but in general if I'm doing well I find it motivates me to keep going.

@babba2014 it really struck me that you said you don't snack. I was 😮 but then I realised how disordered my eating is and that my bad habits are so ingrained.

Day 1 went really well - no snacks or crap and I actually didn't crave them at all - even though it was a rubbish day at work. Knowing I was coming back here to chat to you all really helped.

Same goal for me today. Hope you are al doing ok.

Atlantic252 · 10/07/2024 08:43

Oh and @artant I am the same in terms of daily weighing vs official weigh-in. Historically I've always tracked on Wednesday so I'll start posting my progress from next week.

Yes I went cold turkey. No snacks, and exercise almost daily for at half an hour.

The problem was when I had to go somewhere after two weeks and there were snacks. I was very active on those days and caved in but when I came back I knew it did me no favours and my efforts are going to waste, so I've stopped and won't be snacking at all when when away. I need to see the finish line and then think about it.

Today was a long day and despite everyone eating yummy crisps I just have said no or I don't know when this weight will drop, or I will fit into my old clothes again. It's just been too long and I don't like being the weight I am. If I want to lose it I can't snack.

I remember a few years ago there was the no S diet, not even fruit in between meals. Either have it with a meal or not at all. That worked really well. I guess we have a habit of pecking all day, now it's time to rest and then I'll have something nice once I reach my goal.
Let's see. I definitely am over the whole oops I slipped today situation.

Atlantic252 · 11/07/2024 08:02

babba2014 that is a brilliant approach and you sound so determined. It is very nspiring.

Yesterday was hard mentally - I'm having a rough time at work at the moment - and as close as last week I would have gone straight for takeaway, chocolate and gin. But I didn't yesterday and I feel so proud of myself.

I have to keep reminding myself that food won't fix anything. The scales are also giving me v nice news already.

Hope you are all doing ok.

Quick question for you @OneDayIWillLearn – what day do you weigh on and is it the same day your points reset? At the moment I weigh on Fri morning but points reset Monday, but wondering if I should do both on Thursday.

@Bookmark1111 so I reset points on Monday and I weigh on a Tuesday and Friday morning. My thinking is, if things go awry at the weekend I can start afresh on a Monday and I prefer to build up as many weeklies as possibly for the weekend rather than vice versa. However I used to have it re-set on a Tuesday and weigh on a Tuesday and that was quite good as if I’d gone over a bit at the weekend at least I had Sunday and Monday to earn a bit back. I think Tuesday is a good weigh in day personally because it is long enough after the weekend for any extra eating or drinking to have settled back. I added in a Friday weigh in too just because I found once a week (which I always did for years) a bit too all or nothing and I used to get a real feeling of anti-climax when I’d weighed in. Horses for courses though!!

Thanks! It really is horses for courses. I tend to weigh myself every day because it keeps me in check but I only record it on Fridays. I'm just finding that if I reset on Monday, I run low on weeklies by the weekend and then just go 'sod it' and go over completely. It doesn't feel healthy sometimes, even though I'm losing, so I might try a Thursday reset and official weigh in and see if that helps me spread them more evenly. I'll have Thurs and Fri to add some more, then Mon-Wed to reduce any deficit if I do go over!

To clarify, I don't splurge all of my weeklies in the week, I just use a few additional ones per day. But it means I have less for a big weekend blow-out and that's when I just go 'sod it!'

babba2014 · 11/07/2024 22:26

I don't have any different schedule for the weekend. I'm just saying I've eaten enough these past few years, now I'll just stick to the same thing daily. I have to do this as I feel so annoyed I just ate away lots of sugar and no care for myself.
I said I won't weight myself daily but it's so tempting. Didn't see a change in numbers today despite being so active.
I really do have to tell myself to put the scale away. I won't give into sugar and I just have to keep going.

babba2014 · 12/07/2024 13:38

How's everyone doing?
I just feel so annoyed at myself for letting myself get to this. Not being conscious of piling on weight.
Now I have the scale addiction and not seeing it move numbers. I need to put it away and fix a day. My weekends won't be different to weekdays. If I'm doing this, it has to be long term. Just need to eat properly throughout the whole week. I've had so much sugar and enough takeaways in life that now it can take a back seat.
