Anyone Menopausal or Post meno wanting to lose at least a stone?

alrightluv · 20/05/2024 09:46

I'm mid 50s and post menopausal. I'm finding it much harder to lose weight now than when I was younger. I've joined another thread but wondered if anyone in a similar situation would like to join me?

I was 13 stone 3lbs a few weeks back and now 13 stone 0.

SW 13st 3 and GW 12st

I've upped my exercise been walking more. Today I'm going to work more on upper body and stomach. Maybe a bit of yoga?

Anyone else?

Urghh. 200g loss only. That doesn't really count 😔. I was hoping to get down under 72kg

alrightluv · 25/06/2024 14:02

I was 12 St 10 yesterday. 2 people I hadn't seen for a while were shocked at my weight loss. I've only lost about 8lbs. One said my shoulders are smaller. I know my face is definitely less rounded.

@alrightluv great to have people notice!

wurlycurly · 25/06/2024 15:03

Also 8lbs is definitely a significant noticeable amount to lose. That would be couple of inches of my waist and a dress size for me!

alrightluv · 25/06/2024 17:37

@wurlycurly yes my waist is smaller. I'm a comfortable 14 now. I have a long torso. My tum has always been my problem area.

Sorry for not checking in, I've been away on holiday and also had lots of days out with food and drinking. I'm also going away again for a week next week. I was sensible, but enjoyed myself and did have a few cocktails most nights. Normally this would result in at least 10lbs on, so I was surprised and pleased this time.

I only put on 2lbs after my 2 week holiday, and it took 3-4 days to lose it again. Then I went to a festival and drank and ate lots. That caused another 3lb weight gain, which took me over a week to lose, so as of today I'm 10stone 12.4lbs, which is only 1lb lower than I was in May.

I would like to reach under 10 stone, so I'm aiming for 9 stone 12lbs, meaning I have roughly a stone to lose.

It's all around my middle, which is annoying. It feels like I've got a football stuffed there.

I'm going to start exercising again, starting off with walking to see how my hip holds up. I'd also like to log what I eat, as I've become lazy with that.
My other goal is to drink at least 2 litres of water per day, which I do struggle with.

Well done to everyone on their progress. 💐

Not only back where I started but have put weight on! I’ve told my partner not to buy things like schnitzel, rissoles or sausages which he’s done over the last couple of weeks ‘for a change’ - we usually have unprocessed meat or fish with veg. And I’ve asked him to buy the chocolate I don’t like instead of family sized blocks of my favourite, I know it’s not fair to blame him but I wouldn’t eat it if it wasn’t in the fridge!

wurlycurly · 02/07/2024 13:04

I've also had a bad week 😞 I didn't weigh myself today. But will brace myself and weigh myself tomorrow

alrightluv · 02/07/2024 13:08

I'm in Greece so no comment 🙈back Thursday and will start again. We've got this!

@alrightluv it's rude not to eat the food 🫣

Oh and drink 🍸

Enjoy Greece @alrightluv

Ive weighed myself and I’m back down to 11 stone 1.4 which means I’ve lost roughly a pound. Previous experience tells me that this can easily be undone in a weekend so will have to be hyper vigilant! I want to be down to the 10stone 13s next week. Good luck everyone!

wurlycurly · 04/07/2024 15:38

I'm beginning to think drink is my downfall @alrightluv... I definitely do much better in weeks without festivities. Not too bad this week... 400g down. I'll take that.
@TheDogdidGood same here... Vigilance required at the weekend for sure

alrightluv · 04/07/2024 15:59

I don't drink much at home. I wasn't drunk away but those cocktails have some calories!
On the way back now. Takeaway tonight and new start tomorrow.

Safe travels @alrightluv

@wurlycurly Drink is my downfall too. My partner drinks most nights so sometimes I have a drink with dinner when I wouldn’t if I was home alone. One drink is all it takes for my mindset to change to ‘one square of chocolate won’t hurt’. Except it’s never just one!!!!

Still, 11=stone 1.2 this morning. Another tiny loss but feeling very determined now! I have a weight tracker app and I love seeing the little line going down on the chart :)

alrightluv · 05/07/2024 16:59

I'm back to square one 🙈

Never mind I'll just have to start again.

Well I decided to weigh myself again today. 6lbs gone! Shows it must have been water. I ate pretty healthy yesterday. I had a few digestives I'd brought back from Greece. But otherwise healthy.

TheDogdidGood · 06/07/2024 22:33

That’s a relief @alrightluv :)

I had another small loss and am at 11 stone 0.8. Hope to be under 11 stone by tomorrow,,,,,

wurlycurly · 10/07/2024 08:02

Brilliant, good work.@alrightluv! @TheDogdidGood 11 stone is my interim goal... 70kgs. I thought I'd be there by now. This is so much harder than when I did it three years

TheDogdidGood · 10/07/2024 09:23

It IS hard @wurlycurly! I've made it to 10 stone 13.8. The lowest I've been this year is 10 stone 12.8 - I just ended up putting it all back on again. I won't feel like I"ve really started losing weight till I get below that - this is still just fluctuation territory, if you know what i mean.... Im just up and down, up and down.... it would be nice to actually do it this time!

Lentilweaver · 10/07/2024 09:35

I am still at 11 stone, same as I was 2 months ago. Curses. I am focusing on toning now. Trying to make a once a week swim and twice a week weights stick.

wurlycurly · 11/07/2024 11:34

I'm still a bit heavier than than you! I didn't lose anything this week and standing at 71.7kg. 😔. I'm telling myself, and allowing myself to believe, it's because I weighed myself in the afternoon rather than the morning

TheDogdidGood · 11/07/2024 21:31

@Lentilweaver I've been hovering around the 11 stone mark for a few years now. Anytime I lose weight then lose focus, it's where I end up going back to. My body seems to like it here! Am determined to break the cycle this time.

@wurlycurly time of day makes a huge difference. i've weighed myself before and after breakfast and wished that i hadn't!

I thought i'd made a breakthrough yesterday when I'd reached 10 stone 13 - but it was the day after hydrotherapy in a very hot pool so i think it was liquid loss - I'm back to 11 stone 0.4 this morning and didn't eat much yesterday!

Lentilweaver · 22/07/2024 09:25

Still exactly where I was. Can't budge from 11 stone. This seems to be my happy weight, and most of it is around my middle😥I am considering signing up to a personal trainer in October, as I am travelling before that. Not sure if she will have experience of menopausal women though.

TheDogdidGood · 22/07/2024 10:02

@Lentilweaver I just came on to post that I'm back where I started.- over 11stone 2 after a big weekend. 11 stone 2 is my body's comfortable weight and it doesn't take much to get me back there! It's not my ideal weight though!!! It's six weeks to the start of spring in Oz so I'm going to start again. The menopausal weight just absolutely sucks - mine is all on my abdomen too. I need to be relentless this time though.
