Slow and Steady Weightloss

OkyDoke · 07/05/2024 16:21

Hello all,

Struggling to keep up with weightloss thread on here so hoping if I start one, I will! I've been slowly losing weight over the last eight months or so. Now going to the gym 3 times a week, on Week 7 of Couch to 5k. Need to be more careful with food. On holiday mid June, at a wedding end of July. Would like to lose a stone by end of July.

Start weight: 226lbs
Currently 206.6lbs

Anyone like to join me, who is increasing exercise and losing weight slowly?

Good day exercise wise yesterday, did Couch to 5k Week 7 Run 3 with a good stretch after.

Food not ideal, but could have been worse!

Tiny loss this morning, now 206.4lbs

Tried on a load of holiday clothes last night, rather demotivating! One month to go, should be able to lose half a stone?

Going to try a YouTube work out tonight.

I'll join you if you like. I'm on a couple of these threads, and they help me stay motivated. I started last June at 15st 9lbs and was 12st 0.5lbs this morning. I have lost 3.5 stone overall but still need to lose another 2 stone to get to a healthy BMI range. I'm definitely going for the slow and steady approach in comparison to previous attempts, but it seems to have helped me stay on track long term, so that's positive.

Sounds like you are doing well so far 😊

OkyDoke · 10/05/2024 10:58

Hello @Bumblebeebum23, welcome! Sounds like I started where you did, great to hear of your progress!

I weighed this morning and now 205.2 lbs

Planning to do Couch to 5k Week 8 Run 1 tonight, and have body pump booked for the morning.

OP posts:
LeftyLou · 10/05/2024 14:40

Can I join please? Also on a couple of others but have been awol for a while and really wanting to get my head back into it.

Hoping for 2 stone by October as going on holiday then.

SW 14 stone 10
CW 14 9
Target 13 stone 10
Ultimate target 9 stone

I am also going to take my measurements both in inches and cms and look at those once a week. I did them for a few weeks but got out of the habit of doing them really because I was not focusing on what I was eating and so wasn't really getting anywhere.

You both sound like you have done really well so far 😊

OkyDoke · 10/05/2024 14:52

Hello @LeftyLou, welcome!

I need to do my measurements as well, thank you for the reminder!

2 stone by October seems very achievable. I'm hoping for 1 stone by end of July for a wedding.

Bumblebeebum23 · 10/05/2024 15:40

Thank you, @OkyDoke and welcome, @LeftyLou. I have a wedding and holiday to aim for too as my sister is getting married in mid-August in Australia. I'm hoping to lose at least another half a stone before then (if not more). My weight loss has definitely slowed down over the last few months, but I am hoping to keep chipping away at it.

I am not particularly good on the exercise front as I find it hard to make the time but do endeavour to walk every day.

Tristar15 · 10/05/2024 15:47

Me please! I only have about 8-10 pounds to lose but I lose 2 or 3 then put it back on as I am not making sustainable changes. I’ve decided to go slow and steady. Aiming for it to be gone by the end of August. I am counting calories, upping protein, moving more and focusing on removing UPF. Going for all round healthier rather than a ‘diet’.

Pearlinda · 10/05/2024 15:52

Hi! I’ve got 8lb to get to my goal but have only lost 1lb over the last month so need a boot and some motivation!

SW 11st 12lb
CW 9st 13lb
goal 9st 5lb

I’m going to slimming world for some accountability but doing my own mix of SW and calorie counting. This sunny weather is a killer for me as I can nail a bottle of cava in 90 mins and a massive bag of crisps in 30!

CelesteCunningham · 10/05/2024 15:52

Can I join please? I need to lose 2 stone and would love to lose 3, but I can't seem to stop binging on snacks during the day.

I've joined the gym and trying to up the activity levels a bit in general. I work FT and have small DC so it can be hard to make it to the gym, but every little helps right.

More than anything I need to change my horrific habits, so for now I'm cutting out snacks before lunch, and then will push that a bit further etc.

I'm on holidays next week, swore last year I would be happy in swimwear this year, but instead I'm half a stone heavier. Need to cop myself the fuck on!

Are you part of the ‘reducing ultra processed foods UK’ group on Facebook? Some good recipe inspiration and food swap ideas on there.

What do you do for bread @Tristar15 ? Big UPF culprit and I’m considering getting a bread maker but I ain’t no chef!!

Thanks, I’ll look it up.

I buy sourdough from a local bakery that make all of their own breads. Not sure it counts as not UPF but has to be better than supermarket bread I figure?

Pearlinda · 10/05/2024 17:00

@Tristar15 sounds good to me!
bit of a shithole where I live and all charity shops and bookies! They do all bang on about Jason’s sourdough on the UPF group though so might give that a try before investing in another kitchen gadget!

LeftyLou · 12/05/2024 11:07

I have just done my measurements and they are not good!

Arm: 15.5
Wrist: 6
Chest: 40.5
Waist: 41.5 *
Muffin Top: 48.5
Hips: 50
Thigh : 26
Knee : 26.5
Ankle : 9

Bumblebeebum23 · 13/05/2024 07:52

Not a good week weight loss wise!I'm up 2lbs up this morning, which is so disappointing following my success at reaching 50lb loss midweek 😪 I am currently feeling bloated from too much bbq food yesterday combined with coming on my period so I'm hoping I can refocus and move back down fairly quickly 🤞

Champagnecharleyismyname · 13/05/2024 08:06

Can I join? I have been the same weight for the last few years. I need to lose a stone to get back to a healthy BMI.

I want to focus more on eating well and building strength with the hope that weigh loss starts to happen.

SW is 10st 13lb
GW is 9st 13lbs

I want to make some sustainable small changes so any ideas welcome.

OkyDoke · 14/05/2024 15:27

Hello new people! I've weighed in this morning with a pound on, so hoping that disappears soon!

I did go to the gym last night though, and managed to run 30 minutes (very very slowly) so I'm very happy with that.

Measurements need to happen soon I think, thank you for the reminder @LeftyLou

How are you all getting on today?

OP posts:
Bumblebeebum23 · 16/05/2024 07:49

Hi @OkyDoke, well done on getting to the gym. Hopefully, the 1lb will soon drop off.

I've been in a better frame of mind since the weekend. Trying to eat to plan and upping my steps.

I was back down to 12st 1 and a 1/4 lbs this morning. Not quite at the lowest I had last week, but it's better that I was on Monday!

Hope everyone is having a good week x

LeftyLou · 16/05/2024 10:51

I have had a terrible week and boy has it shown. 3 lbs on this week making me 14 stone 12. At 5'1 that is terrible and the heaviest I have ever been.

Focus on this week is to walk on my walking pad every day and no snacking in between meals.

I want to aim for a stone loss by late August.

OkyDoke · 16/05/2024 12:10

@Bumblebeebum23 Already gone, weighed this morning with a new low, 203.2lbs so happy with that! Sounds like you're in a good place for the coming week?

@LeftyLou sorry to hear you're having a hard time, is the next week looking a bit better? How do you find the walking pad, I've been looking at them.

OP posts:
Tristar15 · 16/05/2024 15:37

I’m having a poor week for progress. Have eaten really well for the past week but it’s the time of the month and there is an extra inch on my waist! Can’t bear to get on the scales! Feeling a bit disheartened that hormones can have such an impact!

OkyDoke · 16/05/2024 15:46

@Tristar15 I seem to be very affected by hormones too, just got to try and power through and it will be better in a few days. Don't weigh if it's too hard, give it a few days.

OP posts:
Bumblebeebum23 · 20/05/2024 08:00

12st 1lb this morning... 1lb lower than last week but a little frustrating because I have been 12st 0lbs most of the week and way praying I would sneak into the 11s. Oh well, I will just keep going and will get there eventually. I'm definitely living up to being "slow and steady"! 🐌🤪

On a brighter note, I am walking a lot more due to the nice weather 😌 and only have one more week until half term 👍😊

Hope everyone has a great week xx

BigDahliaFan · 20/05/2024 08:06

I’m doing slow and steady too..my weakness is thinking that means I can have a day off! But trying to make it a lifestyle change as I’m older and it needs to stick.

weights 3 times a week, though had to cancel today….and eating less red meat, fewer carbs, more fibre and lots more veg.

drinking less too…lovely weekend here but didn’t automatically have a drink in the garden, had cold watered down squash instead.

started at 13st 8 last august, heaviest I’ve ever been, noe
w at 12st 3 and aiming for 11 stone 3. Then I’ll be in my healthy range.

cultjarteriaky · 20/05/2024 08:13

Please can I join?

I want to lose 5kg and keep it off.

I don’t have scales but will take measurements soon

Is it doable without counting calories, tracking macros?

First time trying to lose as my problem comes from changing careers - now I WFH sitting down on my desk whereas before I worked in a very phisically demanding job and walked to and from.

I do Zumba once a week and will join a new pilates studio opening here soon. Other than that trying to walk at least 1000 steps a day and use stairs at every oportunity. I’d love to get into running.

I drink half a wine bottle 1x week only and will be sad to cut that;(

My diet is overall good but I could increase veggies and protein and reduce carbs and the portions - need some consistency re: meal planning too.
