Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Getfits · 04/05/2024 18:23

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

@MrsCrocombesJellyMould perfect - I don’t intend to be doing much exercise . Currently I’m just keeping my steps above 5K and swimming once a week so I think that’ll work well with the Fast 800.

However I then b. went through a super stressful couple of years where I ate absolutely WHATEVER, whenever, which I’ve never done before in my adult life and regularly drank a bottle of wine a night 😭

Ok so minus the wine (my weakness was more dessert!) that’s similar to how I put on weight. I just ate everything and anything from about 2019-2021. I’d always had a sweet tooth and liked big portions but I took it to extremes during that period 🤦🏽‍♀️
It’s good to know you didn’t just put on all the weight back on from eating “normally”/ at maintenance.

All very useful info - thanks again.

May as well just do my weight update a day early :

SW: 72.5kg/ 11 stone 6
CW: 69kg /10 stone 12
GW: 9 stone 10ish

Waist : 31 inches.
GW : 29 inches

So I’ve lost 0.5Kg since my last update 🥳 I just might beat this plateau yet and feeling optimistic about starting Fast 800 soon.

I’ve lost 8 pounds overall, realistically I’m not going to lose the remaining stone by end of July but I’ll still keep aiming for it just to keep the momentum going.

Hi All,

busy week so apologies for late posting:

SW: 11 stone 13
CW: 11 stone 9
GW: 10 stone (as a starter goal)

It's coming down slowly, like previous posters I put on my weight over stress, relationship breakdown ...... basically too
much comfort food and wine!

'Im in a good place now & it's time to be healthier and slimmer.

last night I had a hard look at
my wardrobe..... I'm fed up of opening the doors and seeing clothes I can no longer wear ..... not the most positive start to the day!

I've stripped out any clothes I can fit into at the moment, no big decisions or feeling of loss - I've
put them in the attic for storage. When I've lost the weight I can make the decision to keep or donate them then ..... I might want to treat myself to some new stuff! ☺️

This morning I opened my wardrobe & yes I only have about 10 outfits hanging up ...... but everyone I like and it fits me how I am Now...... it was really nice to choose what to wear with no fuss or guilt!

It's made such a difference to how I feel getting dressed this morning I will carry on & do all
my draws..... even my favourite too small bras and pants that sit looking sad at me every morning need to be banished to the attic for now!

Imagine the great 'shopping spree' I'll have with my own clothes when they are reunited with the slimmer me 🤣

Getfits · 14/07/2024 18:32

That sounds really positive as yeah it’s not a great start to the day when you are looking for something to wear and can’t fit into half your clothes! @Achangenow

So, I won’t be doing a weekly update as my period seems to have come early 🤦🏽‍♀️and I don’t weigh myself while I’m on.

Just aiming to eat at maintenance for the next few days and avoiding the usual binge I do at this time of month, but I’m starting Fast 800 on Friday and doing 800-1000 calories for 3 weeks.

Looking forward to starting that and getting my online shopping order ready so I have everything I need for the meals I’m planning.

Hi all. Sorry I've not been posting, life has got a bit hectic.

Well done on the losses everyone. I've been steering the fasting ship through the some turbulent waters but I'm down another pound which takes me to a full stone off!!

Chuffed to bits.

I'm currently rediscovering my wardrobe which has been fun. I've also planned a shopping trip - I need to try things on as I'm unsure of sizes which is a bit annoying.

Next thing is to build some exercise in.

Netcam · 15/07/2024 07:23

@goingdownfighting, congratulations on your stone off.

I've finally reached 8 stone, my goal weight. Lost a stone and a half over about 9 months. Still feel like I have a bit of fat around my middle, just going to continue eating as I am and see what happens and if I lose any more.

Have celebrated with an attempt at an online shopping spree, made a big order from Poetry and Wrap summer sales yesterday, with multiple sizes as I've never bought anything from there before, but read reviews and measured myself against their garment measurements, I seem like a 10. I liked the look of their cotton and linen for summer and found some items with a more close fitting style. Looked in other shops and there is so much big, baggy stuff that doesn't suit my petite frame and I also find quite impractical for my lifestyle.

Hoping I might end up with something nice for my holiday. All of my shorts are now much too baggy at the waist and my summer dresses, although fine to wear, have a less 'fitted' look. Thankfully, most of my clothes are quite stretchy and still seem to fit.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 15/07/2024 14:29

@netcam well done. Was there anything in particular that you did in the last week that got you to your target

Not really. I seem to have been losing a pound about every 2 or 3 weeks for quite a while, it's taken me a long time to get here. But I haven't been counting calories, I just made what I thought were positive long-term changes to my diet. I guess I was still losing weight with what I have been eating, I didn't do anything different.

Netcam · 20/07/2024 14:44

Checking in again, maintained 8 stone so far. Packing for holiday at the moment, trying on my shorts and summer trousers, they are enormous!

Thankfully this week I found 2 styles of trousers I loved from Poetry, a thicker cotton pair and a thinner cotton/linen pair and promptly ordered a second pair of each in another colour. Also got some really nice linen cargo trousers from Brora. I wore one of the Poetry linen pairs to our work summer party this week and felt really nice in them.

For years I've felt like I don't look good in trousers and have mainly worn leggings in summer. So glad I'm not going to have to wear leggings all holiday. We're going to Wales so shorts/skirts/dresses weather cannot be guaranteed and we are going hiking every day.

This morning I decided to go through my drawers and wardrobe, tried loads of things on and have a huge pile to go to the charity shop of clothes too big. It feels really nice to have a big purge like this! I'm determined not to put on weight again.

Cherryblossom81 · 20/07/2024 18:04

Well done, @Netcam - that's so good to hear! You've done so well.

I'm still stuck at 8st3. Been here for weeks!

Getfits · 22/07/2024 10:31

Today’s weight update is the exact same as my last update earlier this month! I thought it was a loss but I checked my previous posts and can see it’s the same… I’m glad I record my weight on here as otherwise I forget whether I’ve gained/lost or stayed the same 😆

SW: 72.5kg/ 11 stone 6
CW: 69kg /10 stone 12
GW: 9 stone 10ish

Waist : 31 inches.
GW : 29 inches

I’ve been easing into Fast 800, as I was on my period last week. Hoping to get on it properly this week although realistically it’s more Fast 1000 for me as I think that will be more sustainable.

It’s been quite warm recently and my appetite goes down in the heat so I’m trying to take advantage of that and not just mindlessly eating when I’m not actually hungry.

Aiming to reach 68kg by end of this month.

have a great week everyone and hope you’re all reaching your goals!

Almost got into a new weight bracket this morning at 13”13 but stepped on the scales again and it went back up to 14! Still a 2lb loss this week, which is heartening as the scales hadn’t budged for 2 weeks due to my double cream consumption which I’ve now curbed…

SW: 15 st 9
CW: 14 st

Well done for maintaining @Netcam it’s the best feeling fitting back into your clothes/having to get new ones.

Good luck with Fast 1000 @Getfits, drink loads of water and eat loads of protein plus the free veg, it really makes the difference. Your body can get a bit low on electrolytes as you’re adjusting, if I ever felt a bit depleted in the beginning I’d make myself a miso and add a sprinkle of extra salt to my meal.

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/07/2024 17:16

I’ve finally got back on track. My dd is away with friends, who are helping her to eat so I have some head space… and the ability to eat in a way, that promotes weight loss. I’ve been eating one meal a day and obviously I can’t do that when my anorexic dd comes home tomorrow night. My weight today is 91.8 kilos. My heaviest was 110 in circa May/June last year. In terms of stones, this is just a couple of pounds short of 3 stone.

goingdownfighting · 22/07/2024 20:58

Ugh! Put on 3lb after an unleashed weekend away on my period.

I'm back to fasting today.

I woke up with a swollen face feeling rubbish so I am motivated.

Progress isn't linear. I keep telling myself this.

Well done on the losses everyone.

Imatorturedpoet · 23/07/2024 17:59

I've completely gone off the rails, but need to get back on it! Trying to stick to 16:8, but I've been getting the munchies in the evening. I know the answer, just need to stick to it.

goingdownfighting · 23/07/2024 18:29

@Imatorturedpoet try and keep yourself distracted.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/07/2024 20:38

@Imatorturedpoet
If you eat a plate of salad first, it really helps with the munchies. I have lettuce, cucumber and 1/2 avocado with vinegar and oil. You can also do it with steamed veg for example. The vinegar is important to lower blood sugar spikes. Then eat your meal, ensuring there is a good amount of protein and some fat in there with not too much carb.

As I said, I’m eating one meal a day - lunch. This was sort of by accident because we were away for a couple of nights 10 days ago and I was only eating lunch and dinner then the 3rd day I wasn’t hungry in the evening. I’m getting hungry when my lunch is due but the evenings are fine. I do have to eat a sizeable amount. I’m mainly eating around 1400 calories or so. Am counting only to ensure I eat enough.

goingdownfighting · 28/07/2024 11:23

Happy Sunday everyone

Ok so weigh in was much better than expected.

-4lb this week (3 of which were bloat)

So 15lb off overall.

NSWs: tried on lots of clothes for my holidays and I've rediscovered so many that didn't fit before. So I've not had to buy much - just a few plain t shirts.

Unfortunately some are too big to wear now which is disappointing.

I'm still reluctant to buy a size down though. And I won't until I've maintained for a while.

Netcam · 28/07/2024 16:55

On holiday now, brought my travel scales but didn't weigh this morning. But did a 26km hike along the Cotswold Way with lots of hills. My watch said it used 1155 calories. Going to griddle sausages, tomatoes, peppers, courgettes and mushrooms outside for dinner.

goingdownfighting · 28/07/2024 21:12

@Netcam sounds perfect. Enjoy!

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/07/2024 06:26

I was another kilo down yesterday to 90.8. Not able to weigh this morning as we saw family and went out for a meal last night. I’ve only been eating one meal a day at lunch so ended up eating two yesterday with less at lunch. Indian food, which I find quite heavy and I’ve drunk so much water already today.

MrsCrocombesJellyMould · 29/07/2024 09:49

Finally into the next stone bracket! I’ve been upping my fasting windows and also walked more and ate more protein. Also trying to increase water intake, I’m probably getting between 2-3 litres a day.

I’m still definitely eating well over 1000 calories a day, but weight is still coming off. I’ve got 2 weeks left of the 12 weeks I committed to so am going to try and stick to 900 calories a day to give a last boost.

SW: 15st 9
CW: 13st 12

Hope this week goes well for everyone.

Getfits · 29/07/2024 12:48

Congratulations - that’s fab. It always feels so good to lose another kilo or go down to a lower stone bracket :)

That sounds like a brilliant hike @Netcam

I’ve kind of been easing myself into fast 800 and I’m taking your advice @MrsCrocombesJellyMould and buying some miso this week. Definitely need to up my water intake starting today. I’ve been aiming to eat 850-1000 calories but have been eating over that. I’m still eating less calories than usual though.

My eating window is 12noon to 8pm.

SW: 72.5kg /11 stone 6
CW: 68.5 kg /10 stone 11
GW: 9 stone 10-ish

Starting Waist : 32.5 inches
C Waist :31 inches
G Waist :29 inches

So we are now at the end of July and ok, I haven’t lost 1.5 stone 🥹 but I have lost 9 pounds since May, and 1.5 inches off my waist. I’m going to celebrate that today with a frozen banana and date smoothie.

NSV: I binged within an hour of my weekly shopping arriving on Thursday. Had several ice buns and a packet of gingerbread. Usually that would make me feel so disgusted at myself and I’d fall into a spiral thinking the day is ruined and then having an extended binge. This time instead of being miserable or defeatist I just had a small dinner and moved on!

But needless to say I won’t be ordering any iced buns or biscuits etc with my weekly shop for a while 😅 I don’t know if it affected my weight or not but it’s definitely not healthy. Maybe one day I’ll be able to control myself around baked goods in the house but I’m not there yet.

Well done to everyone on the losses and for anyone maintaining healthy habits irrespective of weight.

Have a great week all ☀️

Got room for one more to join?

I've managed to lose 6lbs since the end of June, but I feel like this will help hold me to account!

CW: 13st 2lbs
GW: 10st 8lbs
Height - 5ft 4in

My lowest ever weight (like 10 years ago was 9st10.

Next weigh-in is on Wednesday!

I don't think I'm eating because I'm hungry though, it's boredom or fancying something sweet or salty. I broke the habit before, I just have to do it again. I did ok today, just need to stick to it. It's been a stressful few weeks, all sorts going on, but should start to settle down now I hope, hopefully that will help me get back on track.

I hear what you’re saying. Since eating this way, I don’t fancy / want sweet or salty foods. Eating the salad and vinegar first has completely curbed my cravings. There’s a lot of info out there about having vinegar at the start / just before a meal, eating the veg first, then the meat, then the carb. This stabilises blood sugars and stop the cravings. I have a trashed gut and I react to sugar. Since eating the plate of salad first, I don’t even want anything sweet.

Welcome @FrostedCupcakes
