Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

@Cherryblossom81, I have a Bellicon rebounder which I do 30 mins on most mornings before breakfast. It was expensive, but because it's easy just get on and use, I tend to stick to a routine better than if I had to go out to exercise.

I don't have a weight problem at all but I wanted to feel a bit flatter round the tummy.

I was constantly walking past the fridge and getting chocolate bars out. Haven't bought chocolate in two months. No crisps in the house now too.

I snack on carrots and celery. I've cut out sugar from drinks. Stopped buying latte's and gone to tea. 12 calories a cup.

Water with my porridge every morning instead of milk saves 100 calories a bowel.

Well done you! I wish I had your willpower! But the thought of water with porridge makes me cringe! I certainly couldn’t cope with that! I am trying to cut out chocolate and biscuits, (I am a low count diabetic too! so I need to be firm with myself!) Good luck everyone!

Getfits · 01/07/2024 11:28

Hope you all had a great weekend.

I didn’t weigh in last week, as I’d eaten so much on my period week and I was sick of me doing that 🤭but it’s always good reading everyone’s updates and suggestions.

Trying to be a bit kinder to myself and acknowledge that realistically, like many women, I’ll eat more for a few days of the month. But for the rest of the month really make an effort to keep calories low.

My stats are just the exact same as my last weigh-in 2 weeks ago!

SW: 72.5kg/ 11 stone 6
CW: 69.5kg /10 stone 13
GW: 9 stone 10ish

Waist : 31 inches.
GW : 29 inches

I’m doing my own personal no (refined) sugar challenge for 3 weeks and I’m one week in.

So that’s no cakes, biscuits, chocolates, but I’m still making smoothies and eating whole fruit and a drizzle of honey on my porridge. Hoping that will get my weight moving down again.

I’ve upped my steps from 5K to 7K
and back to swimming for one hour a week.

Hi,

Scales say I've lost a pound! Well its a start ☺️

SW: 11 stone 13
CW: 11 stone 12
GW: 10 stone (as a starter goal)

I ate well last week, but there was a busy celebration weekend....

I think the no sugar is a a good approach. I'm going to eat well (and celebrate with food & drink less) this week.......

I'm trying the 16:8 method. Eating from 11 to 7 ..... it suits my meal times. Let's see if that helps?

Good Luck everyone

goingdownfighting · 01/07/2024 17:49

I'm a STS this week. It's been tough.

Well done on the losses everyone.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 04/07/2024 06:52

I'm reporting back with my week of high protein (which in turn meant my calories some days were as high as 1600 cals). My aim was to eat 45% protein and carbs 35%, i didn't always get there but I was having over 100g to 120g protein and I've only gone and lost another lb. I'm now 8st 3lbs and I can see my stomach is more toned.

SW 9st 5lb
CW 8st 3lb
Target to see muscle and a toned stomach. Not get fixated on a number but to stay under 8st 5

Getfits · 04/07/2024 20:12

Great result! @TakingTheHorseToFrance are you calorie counting or just focusing on getting your protein in ?

I went to see a nurse today about my leg muscle injury and although I’ve been referred to a physio, she reckons it’s nothing to worry about. And that it’s actually beneficial for me to keep up with my steps as it’s keeping the strength in my leg.

Was so happy to hear that and now hoping to gradually go back to 10K steps a day. I was worried the advice might be to put my feet up all day!

I’m on 5K so far today, so going to get on my walking pad or walk on the spot during the election night coverage at 10pm and do a few thousand more.

Today I was 14st 2lbs and as my starting weight was 15st 9lbs I’ve just realised I’ve reached my 1.5 stone loss woo. I’m nearly 7 weeks into my 12 week Fast 800 (though I’ve not been at 800 calories most days) and definitely continuing as I have quite a way to go to reach my 10st 4lb target 😅. Next mini goal is getting under 14.

Netcam · 05/07/2024 08:15

8 St 1!

Getfits · 05/07/2024 10:11

Well done @MrsCrocombesJellyMould 🥳can I ask how have you found managing hunger -if any - on Fast 800? Did you get the book?

I’m considering doing it a “soft” version of it this month and eating 800-1000, since my weight loss has stalled a bit.

OP posts:
Getfits · 05/07/2024 10:37

I didn’t want to buy another diet book but I just realised I get some of the fast 800 book series free with Kindle unlimited so I’ve got them now.

Thinking ahead I don’t fancy eating 800 cals when on my period so planning to start Fast 800, as soon my next period finishes, so I’ll have time to do the initial 800 calories a day, for at least 3 weeks straight. Then I’ll switch to 5:2.

So yeah that’s my plan for later this month in a desperate bid to try and lose the rest of the weight before the end of summer 😭😆

Anyway I hope everyone’s had a good week of healthy eating and exercise. Have a great weekend when it comes ☀️

This is the second time I’ve done Fast 800 and apart from the first few days I’ve never had any issues with hunger. If you’re eating enough protein and fat it shouldn’t be an issue. I’m hungrier when it comes to meal times but that’s only because I’m so used to endlessly grazing that I’ve forgotten what it feels like to be naturally hungry! There are times, like when I’m on my period, that I feel like I need a bit more calorie wise so I’ll just stick to the Fast 800 principles but have more calories. This time around I’ve probably been nearer 1000 calories a day on average - some days a lot more (double cream is the main culprit, I love it with frozen berries) - but have been consistently losing. I love this way of eating! I’ve always been someone who gains weight super easily when eating non-refined carbs which I find really hard to moderate. So I really see the med, whole food diet as something I need to adopt as a way of life. I find intermittent fasting really helps too, 2 meals a day is best for me. If you properly commit to the Fast 800 you’ll definitely see results, even if it’s not on the scales it will be your body shape changing 👍🏻

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 05/07/2024 16:27

I weighed in officially today with my pt I'm 8stone 2 and we agreed no more loosing weight.

When I was trying to hit the protein in the last week I had to up the calories so the protein became my main goal. I m off on holidays for 2 weeks and I've no idea what my daily intake will look like.

Well done and have a great trip. I'm going away quite soon too and will try hard not to put mine back on again!

Well done @TakingTheHorseToFrance and thank you for updating. I'd been wondering how you were getting on.

I've also tried to increase my protein this week but have found it hard to do it without increasing my calories. But your update has encouraged me that maybe(?) a slight increase in my calories will be ok?

Getfits · 06/07/2024 08:26

Thanks for explaining all that @MrsCrocombesJellyMould that‘s very encouraging.

I’ve been looking through the Fast 800 recipe books and definitely looking forward to giving it a try.

Have you been doing much walking /exercise while doing the Fast 800?

Also one last question 😆 did you regain all the weight you lost the first time round and if so is that because you didn’t stick to the the Med/ whole food type of diet in the long term?

OP posts:
MrsCrocombesJellyMould · 06/07/2024 09:51

@Getfits Both times I’ve not done much exercise at all, though I am generally on my feet for most of the day. From the Fast 800 FB support groups I’m on I know that lots of people do exercise and it’s definitely encouraged in the books. I put the weight (and then some) back on because a. I went back to eating how I had been before, which I don’t think would have had too much of an effect as usually I don’t eat badly, I just eat too much and a bit gorgeous bread and butter heavy… However I then b. went through a super stressful couple of years where I ate absolutely WHATEVER, whenever, which I’ve never done before in my adult life and regularly drank a bottle of wine a night 😭. It overlapped with covid and having 2 toddlers so exercise went out of the window too. Perfect storm 🫣.

Netcam · 06/07/2024 10:00

Still 8st 1 this morning despite a glass of prosecco abs few squares of chocolate to celebrate election result last night. 1 more pound to go, hopefully before my holiday, and then just want to stay there. Will still continue eating in a very similar way and weigh every day. Then at least if I gain anything, I can be aware and adjust what I eat accordingly.

Netcam · 06/07/2024 10:00

*and not abs

Yes I was the same afraid of the extra cals but I kept repeating "trust the process" .

Well done @Netcam . We heading on holidays today and I've brought the weighing scales and my yoga mat. Determined that having a good holiday doesn't mean coming back half a stone up

Cherryblossom81 · 06/07/2024 11:04

@TakingTheHorseToFrance - what have you eaten on a typical day this week?

Hi @Cherryblossom81 from my experience and research of high protein eating, it’s the macros that are of the most importance rather than the calories. So as long as you up your protein only then you should continue to lose. I’ve realised that my weight loss definitely stalls if my protein (and water) intake goes down. As@TakingTheHorseToFrance says it’s really about trusting the process, even though upping calories goes against practically everything we’re taught about weight loss.

@TakingTheHorseToFrance - what have you eaten on a typical day this week?

Early 6am brekkie 1 slice wheatenbread with peanut butter and little bit of jam. Coffee

Mid morning 3 egg omlette with ham.

Chocolate protein milk and 2 scoops of protein powder - this is where I'm getting extra protein

Steak fajita and veg (I had a wrap which I usually avoid) extra steak pieces beside it.

Tea and half a protein bar
Banana and nuts

Old me wouldn't have had the omlette and survived morning on bars and crisps

Netcam · 06/07/2024 11:31

Thanks @TakingTheHorseToFrance, totally agree with how easy it is to put on half a stone on a 2 week holiday. I have travel scales and will be bringing them too! Although when I'm away I tend to forget to weigh every day, but remember sometimes and it helps.
