Anyone doing Slimpod and fancy a thread?

I started earlier this week and I’m feeling optimistic but my goodness the Facebook group is not my vibe at all. So, I thought I’d ask if anyone on here is doing it and fancies a thread to discuss and keep track?

Hopeful bump!

Yes please. I started listening, then stopped. Im
on holiday From tomorrow so it would be a good time to start

OwlBeGone · 02/03/2024 09:24

Yep me too! Yeah the Facebook page is not my thing even slightly! I'll confess that I started Slimpod at some point last year and then slid. I had tacked it on to the end of a more conventional "diet" though and I think that was my mistake as I was already feeling deprived and had gone through the whole starve, binge cycle.

Anyway, I'm here if anyone wants company!

Chocochoo · 02/03/2024 10:23

Thanks @Autumcolors and @OwlBeGone nice to meet some others!

I’m very new to it, I think I’m on day six and I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve definitely made a lot of healthier choices this week that have felt like my subconscious winning, rather than consciously thinking “I should eat healthier today”. It’s actually quite a strange feeling.

I’ve got a lot of weight to lose. I’ve my whole adult life dieting, losing weight but regaining it. In recent years I’ve been binging too so it’s really time I tried something new.

I tried slimpod. I started last May. Listened to the pods every day for around 2 months with no weightloss at all. The info in the tutoring videos is ok, but nothing earth shattering really. Some odd things such as eat Avocado and Brocoli every day 🤷‍♀️ and it does verge on 'diet-y' vibe from time to time (recommends fasting). FB page is weird.

Something I'll dust off and try again as nothing else is/has worked 🙄 I've got 4 stone to lose! 😬 there are a couple of other threads on slimpod if you search. There were a couple of posters who had amazing results 👏

Good luck tho OP; hope it works for you 😊

Chocochoo · 04/03/2024 10:42

Thanks @Projectme I agree, I haven’t been paying too much attention to the tutorial videos as it’s information I don’t feel I need. I know how to eat healthily, I just can’t seem to do it!

Having said that, I’m a week in now and I’m absolutely amazed by the impact listening to that pod seems to have made.

I didn’t have any chocolate at all yesterday and I’ve had hardly any all week. Previously, I was eating well in excess of 1000 calories of chocolate every single day, without fail.

I’m not snacking so much and if I do, I’m reaching for the fruit bowl or having just one biscuit. Earlier in the week I took a bite of a biscuit and simply didn’t want the rest.

Totally ashamed to say I was drinking 2.5L of Diet Coke a day before. For me, Diet Coke and chocolate were a match made in heaven and I’d have both in unlimited amounts, and stress if I didn’t have any in the house. Yesterday, I had one can of Diet Coke and haven’t had any since. I don’t want it either.

I have started planning all my meals, finding new recipes, and cooking proper meals again.

I’m usually pretty sceptical about this kind of thing but after so many years of trying to lose weight, I needed to keep an open mind to this to make sure I maximised my chances of it working. So perhaps it’s the fact I’m telling myself it’s working that means it’s working? Either way, I can honestly say I’m not:

following a meal plan,
counting calories,
consciously thinking “I’m going to be good day”

I honestly think it’s working. My subconscious is winning more and more and I find myself naturally making healthier choices.

I’m actually quite stunned.

That's great @Chocochoo . Hope it continues for you.

You've given me the inspiration to get back on it!

NotNowNorman · 05/03/2024 12:39

I've been listening to the Slimpods for nearly six weeks now and I think it's having a subtle but definite effect - I can't face weighing myself so don't know how much I've lost but a pair of January sales trousers that I couldn't button up now go on fairly easily. Any mindless snacking has really fallen off, which was always my downfall.

It's all about the pods for me, though. The Facebook group's definitely not my thing; Sandra's daily 'golden nuggets' are just irritating; and if you've been food conscious for a long time, there's not much new in the videos. And I haven't been very good at writing down my three 'daily wins'. So to be fair, any failure is entirely down to me not following the plan properly!

But on balance, I think it's worth it for the slow but steady brain retraining. If Trevor could just do a Tackle Your Chores pod I'd be happy.

OctoberRainStorm · 18/03/2024 16:58

I signed up yesterday. I’ve got the ten day free trial so hoping to go it very diligently so can make a choice before having to pay anything!

one thing I found hard was the advice not to listen to the words of the pod. My brain can’t seem to help active listening. Is there a technique? Should I think about something completely unrelated?

Dopaminefuelled · 20/03/2024 09:34

I just joined up too. Had my first listen of the pod last night. It was really quick. I felt like I was listening to the words but after I can't remember anything!

Where does the avocado and spinach everyday come into it? @Projectme

Projectme · 20/03/2024 12:23

@Dopaminefuelled it was a few weeks in to the plan; sorry can't remember exactly when. It's on one of the coaching videos

Canwegodancing · 22/03/2024 07:10

I'm on day four so totally new to it but there's definitely something in it! Making healthier choices without feeling like I have to. I bloody know well what not to eat but have been so completely unmotivated for a long time I had resigned myself to my extra layers!! Haven't gone near fb and don't think I will. But the daily wins I have done on notepad on my phone as I've been so stunned with my choices!!

Tinytigertail · 22/03/2024 07:45

Hi, can I join? I've been on slimpod for ages and did well but slid. The FB page drives me mad, full of people going crazy because they've eaten an avocado! I'm generally a healthy eater, I just eat too much and am prone to the odd binge. Id love to get back to listening to the pods everyday and writing my wins.

Treaclepie19 · 20/04/2024 23:51

Hi all, how are you getting on?

I'm on the free trial. Day 4.

Louloujj · 28/04/2024 21:45

Hi is this thread still active. I'd love to join a group if others doing slimpod. Just starting it now...

Summerhillsquare · 28/04/2024 21:51

I should really get back on it, if only because it's easy!

Tinytigertail · 29/04/2024 07:21

I'm starting again today. It's never made huge changes for me, but it has definitely helped break some unhelpful habits.

Louloujj · 29/04/2024 07:38

Did it work for you?

DrFroggy · 29/04/2024 07:42

Hello I’ve been listening to the pods for a while and think it’s making some difference but I think I’ve been derailed by the deranged cult of the FB page! I’d like to join this thread and maybe mute the FB page because honestly it’s bonkers- obsessed with UPF and eating broccoli smoothies and so weirdly obsessed with Sandra and Trevor.

Dopaminefuelled · 29/04/2024 09:34

I muted the Facebook group. There were a few technical issues with the pods and so many people were commenting. Like it was the end of the world.
It's rather put me off

This made me laugh! Yes let's do a thread on here. I'm just starting. I'm desperate so hopefully it will work!!

Tinytigertail · 29/04/2024 14:08

Oh lordy, that FB page is something else. I've never seen so many people so perplexed by avocado! I would love to mute the group, so a thread here would be very helpful.

NotNowNorman · 30/04/2024 10:15

While I really like the principle of Slimpod, I've been chased for feedback a few times now, and on giving some honest and considered responses, I got some weirdly pass agg replies which make me suspect they really, really don't want to hear anything but glowing praise. And that, unfortunately, makes me a bit more cynical about the whole thing.

They smack down ANY negative words in a person's post on the FB page and any comments made underneath the post too. They ALWAYS stop the commenting when things get negative (if the post doesn't get entirely deleted).

The current thing at the moment is people doing the medjool dates/peanut butter/dark chocolate thing. The amount of people making them and drooling over them drives me mad! It's just the latest fad (as with any diet FB page) but the page does become a bit cult like/diet like at times.

I started it a year ago. I've noticed small changes in habits but absolutely no weight loss what so ever. I'm trying to engage with it again though...

don't go back on the FB page atm then; it's full of medjool date recipes!!!
