6 weeks until Christmas Day - who wants to lose half a stone?

Hollyhead · 13/11/2023 09:48

I have been trying to lose the same half a stone all year, I’m sick to death of it, and if I’m honest I haven’t really tried. I’m not even that bothered about the weight number being exactly half a stone, it’s 2 inches I want to loose from bum/hips/stomach.

I know what I want to do - steps, home weight workouts, some 16:8 fasting and following a set regime of the following diet choices
Breakfast - eggs &a vegetable OR yoghurt with seeds/fruit OR porridge

Lunch - salad OR homemade soup OR plant based tray bake type thing (such as lentils and roasted veg

Dinner - small version of what we’re having with veg replacing carbs where possible - so for instance instead of rice with a stir fry do an extra portion of steamed broccoli.

Anyone want to join me with any weight loss method permissible? Whether it’s vanity pounds or getting a big weight loss kickstarted let’s do this! My wardrobe is full of clothes I love that I can only just get on, I want them back 😁

It's my Noom 'Treat Day' today which you seem to earn for tracking everything for a week. So no need to record anything or weigh in today and a small splurge allowed. So I had a coffee and a small piece of cake out this morning.

Monday I'll have been doing this for a week and hoping I'll still be about 1kg/2lb down. Which I was yesterday!

Reba767 · 18/11/2023 17:27

Ive been logging my food on my fitbit app and its such an eye opener. Omg mayonnaise is a killer!!
Having fajitas tonight but just one with a side salad!

Hollyhead · 18/11/2023 18:28

Hi everyone, not doing too badly today - fasted until 1pm, then had a small sandwich, and 4 ferreo rochers. Will be having a small dinner.

I'm allowing Saturday as my less good day per week, rather than Friday/Saturday/Sunday which is what it has been! Managed about 7000 steps so far, but evening faffing will boost this number quite a bit.

@Reba767 yep - mayo is a nightmare, I found an investment in a balsamic glaze for salady things helped although it is quite carby so you can't have it as a free for all!

@Newnamesameoldlurker I would avoid the velvetiser! I find that I can get almost as good an effect with the HC hot chocolate mix done in a saucepan with a whisk, which whilst faffier, actually discourages me from having them. What I'd also say is you don't need as much chocolate as they say. Yesterday I really wanted something chocolately so I had a light lunch then a hot chocolate made with 10g of their 85% chocolate mix, 200 semi skimmed milk and then ?30ml boiling water to top it up. It was still lovely, still chocolately and was 160 calories, so not something to glug all the time, but as a relatively unprocessed 'treat' that doesn't blow the total calorie budget it was great.

@Hollyhead thank you so much!!! Excited to try this, you've saved me some money and extra lbs 😆

I'm joining (late) if that's ok.

Was doing well on WW in October but November has been awful and now want to do some strict healthy eating and cutting the crap!

Question about fasting, how do you do it around exercise? I'm assuming exercising intensely during a fast period isn't a great idea....

JofraArchersFastestBall · 19/11/2023 07:54

Hello @withoutjeans - I'm relatively new to fasting, I started at the beginning of September. I love it though, it honestly feels like something I could do forever which I've absolutely never felt about any other 'diet'.

The theory is that once your body is adjusted to fasting, and readily accessing energy from fat reserves, you can easily exercise when you're fasting. I'm not a gym goer, but I've found it to be true for my job which is quite active/physical. I listen to the intermittent fasting stories podcast, and lots of the guests are very positive about exercising combined with fasting.

Fast, feast, repeat is a good book if you're interested in time restricted eating.

SweatpantPotato · 19/11/2023 20:06

Checking in, at weigh in today after my work trip found that I maintained and didn't gain, so that's positive! The temptation was truly incredible, that was some of the fanciest food I've seen in my life and there was so MUCH of it! I did think of this thread when I felt myself wobbling, I didn't want to have to admit a lapse! We did have takeout last night, but veggie burgers planned for tonight and soup and roasted veggies for tomorrow. Really pleased to see others are having progress, I hope to join the club this week!

JanyewithaY · 19/11/2023 20:33

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I've managed to stay on track food wise but haven't been as active as I would have liked! I'm planning a good walk in the morning after school drop off, hopefully that will get the week off to a good start.

rockingbird · 19/11/2023 20:47

Checking in, the fasting is going well. Fitness not so much..! Going to try harder with that this coming week. Weigh in tomorrow currently 10.10.. I'd like to see a few pounds off at least 🫣

withoutjeans · 19/11/2023 21:54

Well, I failed all weekend.
But have meal prepped for tomorrow - Wednesday, all meals including a somewhat austerity soup and healthy breakfast. Just need to hold my nerve and not bloody SNACK.

Good luck for Monday one and all.

Scottishskifun · 19/11/2023 22:31

Hi all!
I need to lose a bit over half a stone not really about the scales for me more fitting into my winter clothes!

Started tracking with my fitness pal which recommended 1200 calories a day! So far I have been about 1500.
Will weigh in once a week and not snack in the evening....we eat at 5pm! Found drinking fruit tea has helped this evening

Hollyhead · 19/11/2023 22:39

Hi everyone, not the worst Sunday, but not the best either! Keeping everything crossed for tomorrow's weigh in - I'm still carrying a lot of PMT bloat though as period not started!

@SweatpantPotato well done, that's a brilliant result, I bet you feel so pleased now that you managed to resist!

Im in. I am planning a cut down from tomorrow (always start in a Monday ocd). No biscuits, cakes, sugar etc. ive been eating far too much and put weight on. I do the omad usually. So will start that again tomorrow. I need lose weight not just for xmas but because my age. Peri meno..harder to shift. Im disabled so struggle to exercise, but like walking. I work ft too. Overall i want to lose 2 stone. Half stone before xmas will do me

Aquarius1234 · 19/11/2023 23:38

I'm in. Need to lose more like two stone.
But half will do.
I find it so hard walking in the evening. Not sure why.
Also its ok to cut down but then I spoil it 3 days later.
I don't do many steps which is the problem and the dinners I have tend to be high in calories.

It's my weigh in day. Will be back to update!

Reba767 · 20/11/2023 06:21

OMG

Last Monday 12st 2
Today 11st 10
6lb loss!!

Hollyhead · 20/11/2023 07:56

Wow @Reba767 that is an amazing result! Congratulations!

I am 0.5kg down but think I’m still retaining water so I’m going to weigh every day this week as a way of seeing what’s going on. My waistband is definitely doing up a bit easier though 😁

Thanks. I think its mostly water tbh. A few years ago when I did SW I lost about that the first week and then it was slow from then on! X

Well done!! Its still a loss.

Scottishskifun · 20/11/2023 08:46

@Loubelle70 I'm not disabled but have long covid and really struggle with fatigue have to pace and balance everything with energy credits so cant use exercise either. Its one of the things that has made me gain weight tbh as when I was active I was fine and ate exactly as I do now. I can manage a gentle short walk and looking after the kids.

I like the idea of Monday weigh ins so my starting weight is 12 stone 4lb will see what next week brings!

Managed 16 hours of fasting (we eat very early!) So good start to the week!

Im with you @Scottishskifun .
My start is 9'10 today... That's overweight for me, im petite. I eat later in day for my fasting. Im determined 😁. We will do it xx♥️

NorthernSpirit · 20/11/2023 08:53

First weigh in (target WL 8.3lb):

• SW = 10st 1.3lb
• CW = 9st 13.7lb
• WL = 1.6lb

This week I’m aiming to reduce my portion size down (I’m eating healthily but portions are too large) and aiming for 5 x gym sessions.

Wishing everyone a good week 2!

StarShipControl · 20/11/2023 10:39

Argh weekend failure. I was out with friends and we had guests so it was a social weekend. I don't think overdid it and still fasted but did eat dessert and carbs.

Back to healthy eating today. Soup and pitta bread for lunch, chicken and cabbage for dinner.

Hollyhead · 20/11/2023 12:21

I’m doing better again today, so far just had an avocado and a chia pudding made with kefir, raspberries and a drizzle of honey. Just about to do my 2nd walk of the day too!
