what size do I look in this photo? I am tough, you can be honest / constructive. I would be grateful for any kick up the bum tbh.

I’m pretty shocked to be honest at these trews I’ve just bought that fit me perfect. Well ok they’re a little baggy on the bum.

But their waist measurement is the standard for this size label.

I can’t believe I’m now this size it’s the biggest I’ve ever been. Considering the hard manual work I used to do just a couple of months ago before I had to leave due to ill health - those muscles and tautness just flabbed right up after a few months.

For context I’ve had two children in my early 40s and in this picture I’m in my 50s. I don’t drink or smoke and walk regularly several times a week. As posties complain, walking doesn’t lose any weight just keeps your heart health up.

14

Hollyhead · 05/10/2023 17:31

Hard to tell but you look tall, could be anywhere between a 14 and an 18 depending on actual height.

YukoandHiro · 05/10/2023 17:32

To clear you don't look like a teenage size 14, you look like a woman in mid life when so many of us that were 8/10 just completely change shape and need a different size

Neurons · 05/10/2023 17:32

I’m five foot nine and weigh 12 stone 10

Depends where you shop. Some shops you'll fit in to say, a size 10, some a size 16. There's absolutely no consistency. It's very annoying, you just have to try everything on. They even do it within the same shop.

bryceQ · 05/10/2023 17:35

You're tall, you don't look overweight especially but a size 14 here?

Neurons · 05/10/2023 17:36

@Maireas yes it’s so irritating. But the waist measurement of these trouser are actually the standard measurement for this size label, which is why I’m amazed I’ve put on this much weight.

14 on the bottom but maybe only 10/12 on top

CantFindTheBeat · 05/10/2023 17:38

I would say an 18 trouser and a 14 top, OP.

BHRK · 05/10/2023 17:38

I would say a size 10-12 as that’s what I am and think I look similar!

Shadyboots23 · 05/10/2023 17:39

I'm an inch taller and 4 stone heavier and wear a 16/18 so I'm going with a 14

SirVixofVixHall · 05/10/2023 17:40

12, maybe a 14 in some brands ? I think you look slim -I can see you are tall.
I agree with the above comment re mid life. I am in my fifties and my shape has changed.

Chugsalong · 05/10/2023 17:40

I’d say you’re a 12 on top and 14 bottom?

JustAMinutePleass · 05/10/2023 17:40

They look a bit tight for you around the crotch actually

OhYetAnotherBrickInTheWall · 05/10/2023 17:40

At 5’8 and 12 10 stone, I was a size 16, pushing on an 18.

Gooseysgirl · 05/10/2023 17:41

I'd say 12 on top, 16 on bottom

Gymmum82 · 05/10/2023 17:41

I’d guess a 16. You’re tall and not massively overweight for your height. You just need to build some muscle to get rid of the flab

EmmaGrundyForPM · 05/10/2023 17:41

I think probably a 16 trousers, 12 top. But if they are "vanity sized" they might be a 14.

I'm a stone lighter than you but not as tall, all my trousers are 14 or 16.

Oldgreyjumper · 05/10/2023 17:41

I am same height and have recently managed to go from 12.5 to 12 stone. Am trying to get further down to 11.7 as technically I am overweight at 12 stone.

I am currently a size 12 so would say you are 16.

tiredandolderthanithought · 05/10/2023 17:42

I'd say a 12 or even a 10 these days

soupmaker · 05/10/2023 17:42

Neurons · 05/10/2023 17:32

I’m five foot nine and weigh 12 stone 10

I'd love to have those stats. You look absolutely fine.

FlowFle · 05/10/2023 17:44

14, or maybe 16

Neurons · 05/10/2023 17:44

Thanks so far everyone it helps to get other’s perspectives

I’ll post these actual clothes sizes in a few more minutes

OP posts:
IncompleteSenten · 05/10/2023 17:45

14?

Neurons · 05/10/2023 17:46

@JustAMinutePleass I agree with you! I’ve hoiked them up a bit as they were actually a little baggy around this area. They are premium range hill walking trousers so a little give may be the norm for the sizing maybe
