I started 11st 7.

I've lost 12.5lbs and visibly, I look exactly the bloody same

I know it's fab what I've lost on the scales but I want to look at myself and see it!

Are your clothes looser? That's the only way I could tell. I've lost over 3.5 stone and my brain is only just catching up.

Antst · 29/09/2023 21:00

I lost a lot more than that and can hardly see a difference (and also didn't notice gaining it!). Everyone else does though. I'm sure it's the same for you!

ctawal · 29/09/2023 22:09

Around my legs I suppose I can feel looser clothes but that's really NOT what I was aiming for. I want to lose it from my middle but it seems it's not shifting from there!!

NoNeedToHurry · 29/09/2023 22:10

I lost 1.5 stone and didn't even drop a dress size 😭

ctawal · 29/09/2023 22:28

This is super annoying!
Has exercise done anything to change your shape?

The only way to do this is to drastically cut out booze sugar and white carbs. Then you will see a waist quickly

ctawal · 29/09/2023 22:38

@Unexpectedlysinglemum genuinely - these are the things I've massively cut out. I'm doing about 1000 cals a day, I've cut out wine and pasta completely which were my "issues" and I'm doing high intensity exercise about 3 times a week! I look the same!

Iv lost stone. I can’t see any difference at all! I think il need to lose nearly 3 stone before I and others can tell

alpenguin · 29/09/2023 22:44

I have lipodema, when I lost 3stone you couldn’t really see any difference and my clothes weren’t any looser. I’m not especially huge but I hoped for at least dropping a clothing size.

LadyBird1973 · 29/09/2023 22:55

I've cut out sugar and booze and carbs that aren't vegetables. Although I've lost weight, it hasn't dropped off instantly or even quickly!

I think we go ages without seeing any appreciable difference then all of a sudden you see it. Takes a while though.

TokyoSushi · 29/09/2023 23:04

I started at 12st 8 on 1st July, I'm as of today 10st 7 (whoop whoop!) people literally only started noticing about a fortnight ago, it's proper annoying! I've gone from a size 16 to a 12 too!

Amazing effort!!!

I think I'm around a month in and still have around a stone to go

Just pleased the scales have changed or I think I'd have given in my now.

Congratulations on your loss

BelleSauvage9 · 29/09/2023 23:11

@TokyoSushi how did you get there?? (I'm just a little bigger than your starting weight and would love to be down 2 stone in a few months, congratulations!)

Op I've lost 3 stone now and other people have only just starting commenting on it. Unfortunately to me I look much the same :( but have dropped a dress size as clothes were loose.

I've only dropped one dress size and I'm down 3 stone! @NoNeedToHurry

MiniCooperLover · 29/09/2023 23:13

Are you doing any exercise to sort out the loose skin? That doesn't disappear of its own 🤷‍♀️

Tireddoggy · 29/09/2023 23:17

I have lost about 7 kgs in three weeks. My face definitely looks slimmer and my clothes feel looser. The main change I have noticed is that I can walk upstairs and inclines with out feeling breathless..the main insensitive for me !

TokyoSushi · 29/09/2023 23:20

1200 calories per day without fail, very very limited 'treats' like chocolate/cake etc. Loads of Greek yogurt, salad, chicken & veg etc. It's become MUCH easier/less dull as time has gone on. I went into M&S today and to be able to pop clothes on without the first thought being 'God I look so fat' has been incredible.

In addition I've done loads of exercise but I think the main thing there that has helped is spinning which is really addictive and whizzes the weight off.

I've tried to make it all 'nice' though rather than a punishment, so the food is all nicely prepared, the exercise is at David Lloyd so includes the lovely spa hot tub etc. Its been an absolute mission but it's great now seeing the reward!

Would you try a Pilates programme now? With the weight coming off it could really help with core strength and waist definition. coupled with high intensity could really make a visible difference

And this is supported by why what evidence?

LadyBird1973 · 30/09/2023 13:18

@Vegetus your body will choose to burn alcohol first, then sugar and carbs basically turn to sugar in your body, so what you don't burn gets stored as fat. It stands to reason that if you don't eat those things )except for vegetables, which are good carbs), your body is forced to burn it's stored fat for energy.
But weight loss doesn't happen speedily because you are still having to consider calorie intake, so while it's a good way to eat from a health perspective, it's probably no better than any other 'diet' if weight loss is the sole consideration

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/09/2023 13:23

I think it takes a while for our brains to catch up with our changing bodies, I didn't notice putting 2 stone on, and now its not really obvious when the weight is coming off. Taking measurements can be a big help, so around your waist, bust and hips, and also your thighs and arms if you can be bothered.

Hygeelady · 30/09/2023 13:25

I dropped a dress size at 1.5 stone. Then 2 stone another, and a couple of people have noticed but hardly any and its a dramatic difference for me! But then I know my friend lost 2 stone and doesn't look any different at all 🤷‍♀️

ctawal · 30/09/2023 15:25

@polkadotclip definitely! Will to try most things if it'll shift some middle weight. How many times a week should I do Pilates? Can I follow a you tube?

OP posts:
ModeWeasel · 30/09/2023 15:28

Are you taking progress pictures? If not definitely start. I can see a huge difference in the pictures after a stone which is not as obvious in day to day clothes/looking in the mirror.

WhereIstand · 30/09/2023 16:23

I lost a lot of weight years ago - no one noticed until I was on the last half stone to lose.

It was like I'd dropped a few stone overnight, EVERYONE suddenly commenting, then after I'd lost the last half stone 'oh you've lost too much, eat a burger' 🙄

LadyBird1973 · 30/09/2023 16:26

I long for people to tell me I've lost too much. Got a while to go though.
It happened to me once, years ago, when my body looked great but my face started to look a bit gaunt. I must say? I did enjoy putting some of the weight back on Smile
