2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Wow! That's wonderful.

Brilliant, well done.

chalkyc2 · 19/09/2023 22:42

I'm in a real routine with breakfast - my husband makes us both a smoothie and I take mine into work and have it about 11am - think todays was Greek yoghurt and berries with unknown (to me) other ingredients. I also had an ice latte first thing. Small portion of leftover chilli for lunch and then prawn garlic and spinach stir fry for dinner. And my evening cuppa which manages to stop me going mental in the evening and reaching for anything!

I don't consciously count calories but today probably 1200ish? I do try and portion up 3-400 calorie meals but I'm fairly fast and loose and feel like life is too short to be measuring calories in olive oil etc.

blimmy · 19/09/2023 22:59

Evening all, may I join you?
I've been struggling to lose weight for a good 5 years now and I was conveniently blaming it on the menopause, when really it was my diabolical eating and drinking habits!
I was drinking a bottle of wine most nights, and all the crap that goes with it - crisps, nuts, sweets etc - and then moaning I couldn't lose weight!!
So I started on August bank holiday and was horrified to be 13 stone 1.5lb, the heaviest I've ever been (I'm 5'2").
I'm roughly doing the Fast 800 - but not strictly - I'm doing 16-8 fasting, lowish carb and as close to 800 calories as I can manage.
I've lost 9lbs in the first 3 weeks and had my first non-scale victory this evening, when I realised I could cross my legs while sitting down! They've been too fat to do that up to now!

My current stats are:
Weight now - 12st 6.5lb
Aim by Christmas - 11 stone
Aim by next summer (goal weight) - 9 stone

I feel I'm letting myself down regarding exercise though. I work in a sedentary job 8.30-5 every day and struggle to fit in exercise after work as I'm usually tired and have so much to do at home too. I do try and go for a walk at lunchtime if it's not raining, but rarely have time for more than 5,000 steps. I hope I'm not going to set myself back by not going running or to the gym!

Anothagoatthis · 19/09/2023 23:05

Great thread - I’m only 5ft 2 so losing 1-2 stone by Christmas would make a big difference to how I look and feel!

I’m currently around 70KG /11stone, would like to be 60KG/ 9.5 stone.
Body fat percentage is around 34% aiming closer to 25%.
Waist is 33 inches, my goal is 30 inches.

Have had to take a break from exercise as recovering from a viral infection and even walking or cleaning is exhausting atm so I’m going to be focused on diet for the meantime.

I got up to around 13 stone during lockdowns when I spent most of the day WFH in bed and ordered takeaways every other day, so now I’m sedentary again I need to be extra mindful of what I eat.

Seddon · 19/09/2023 23:54

@PinkArt I definitely needed an afternoon snack at the beginning but it only took a week or so until my body got used to going without. I did tweak meal times to help a bit.

mellongoose · 20/09/2023 07:24

Have just weighed in on new scales, only to find I am 13st 5lb (not 3, as previously thought) 😳. I was only a few lb heavier when I was 9 months pregnant 9 years ago!!!!!

I've been walking every for Sands since the beginning of September so feeling a little de-motivated. I can see a look better than I did a couple weeks ago, yet I'm heavier.

Okay, keep going.

New goal is 11st 7lb by Christmas 🎄

CarPour · 20/09/2023 08:31

Weighed myself this morning and CW is 11st 7, which is nearly half a stone less than expected. Last time I weighed myself I was 12st 2 so I know I can do it!

Ive got a friends wedding in 4 weeks and if I can get down to 11st by then that would be great. But not sure I really have the motivation to do 2lbs a week

recklessgran · 20/09/2023 08:36

Morning all. Day 2 went well and I managed to stick to my low carb, 800 calories.
I'm not doing too well with exercise yet but for now staying away from the bread bin and the biscuit tin is FAR more important to me. Today I intend to walk up to the village as I have a few errands there. It's a big steep hill so that will be good exercise and I have to admit I usually drive. [V.lazy!] I love reading everybody's different approaches - I'm finding it really helpful - so thank you all! Let's all keep going!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 20/09/2023 09:08

good morning all! hello to the new people and well done to those who have already had good losses!
i must say, i am saving money as well as weight now that im not buying takeaway dominoes and mcdonalds from uber eats which is great. it adds up so fast.
today im in a meeting most of the morning so after will make some toast, butter, egg and beans for lunch. dinner will be whatever i can find in the cupboards. porridge for snack and we've got some fruit that needs eating too.
its terrible weather outside, really cold and rainy.

FannyBawz · 20/09/2023 13:38

Another omelette for me this morning, hope it will keep me full until dinner 💪💪

Sparky81 · 20/09/2023 14:24

Hey everyone

On Day 3, feels like 2 weeks. Finding the food lovely and I'm not hungry but I miss the snacking! Anyone else the same? I think I need to keep busy to distract myself

MoiraBebe · 20/09/2023 14:37

I'm also missing the snacking. A lot!

ACurlyWurlyTail · 20/09/2023 15:30

I read this yesterday and decided that I need this motivation. I fall off the wagon so often. I wanted to lose 50lbs by 50 years old, i had 50 weeks to do it.....but now I only have a few months left and have lost 4lb so here I am reading daily.
5'6"
weight 15st 4lb
anything over 1/2 st by xmas would be incredible.

RedDoughnut · 20/09/2023 15:36

I was wondering if sugar free mints would take away the urge to snack but there was nothing in my village shop today.

chalkyc2 · 20/09/2023 16:20

A tip I've heard is to grab a drink of water/fizzy water to avoid snacking. If I'm really properly hungry I'll have a cup of tea!

ToddlerMumma · 20/09/2023 16:24

I'm in! I have 4 stone to lose but 2 would be an amazing start! Weighed in at 14st today. I can do well for a few days but have never sustained for weeks/months before. It's now hard to put my socks on, tie shoelaces and wipe my butt so it's defo time!

Hubblebubble · 20/09/2023 16:25

Better day today. I always eat better/less on exercise days. I'm not clean eating, I'm going for protein intake and calorie deficit.
Breakfast was a PSL and pan au chocolate.
No snacks.
An hour HIIT class followed by a 40 minute swim.
Lunch was left over paprika potatoe chunks and pork chop chunks with coleslaw (all homemade) and another PSL.
Afternoon snack was a homemade protein shake (chocolate flavoured cassein, semi skim milk, 1 tsp peanut butter and cinnamon)
Dinner will be tomatoes and beef mince tortellini.

Comes in at 1471 calories if myfitnesspal is being accurate.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 20/09/2023 16:29

i don't cut out snacks completely. i have fruit or porridge for snack or other single-portion small things like babybel. i eat kinder buenos or kitkats for sweet snack, try to only do this around 3 times a week. i also drink diet, caffeine free fizzy drinks or tea when peckish especially at night because i dont want to go to sleep on a stomach thats too full. i just keep it all within my calories (though im not strictly counting at the moment, i have a good feel for it from past experience).

Strictlyslender99 · 20/09/2023 17:06

RigorMortisRadio · 19/09/2023 16:05

I loosely follow 16:8 e.g. skip breakfast and don't snack after my tea, I drink plenty of water in the morning which subsides the hunger then if I'm really struggling I will have a coffee.

Thank you for this advice Rigormortisradio and thanks to shearwater too and anyone I’ve missed.

I am doing a lot odd physical work with horses from very early in the morning so not sure I want to skip breakfast but I appreciate the suggestions!

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 20/09/2023 18:22

Anyone fasting ? I want to fast but as a night shift worker its hard to know how to switch between shifts. Anyone any ideas ?

lozrox90 · 20/09/2023 18:47

Evening all 😊 Hope everyone has had a good day and getting on OK.

Day 3 for me, ending on 1500 cals. Haven't felt too hungry today which I'm thankful for as yesterday and Monday I felt ravenous and it was a struggle to keep to my calorie limit!

I was going to go on my treadmill this eve but not really feeling it so might just read a book instead 😂

Interesting to read that some are doing 16:8 and finding it works well, I might give it a go as I find I'm never that hungry 'til late morning.

RedDoughnut · 20/09/2023 19:21

1500 calories approximately for me today.
I think I probably need a bit less as Im menopausal and I'd already started my diet before I started this thread.

The scales are stuck for me this week. I kind of new this would happen as I lots a lot last week (first week) The second week is often a disappointment- still time though. Main thing is I feel very determined and motivated this time. Diets go like that don't they, sometimes they fade after a few days, other times it sticks in your brain.
Hope everyone doing ok today.

My go to sweet is a werthers candy. They take a while to suck and do enough to satisfy my cravings.

RigorMortisRadio · 20/09/2023 21:08

Really struggling craving everything sweet tonight but even though there's stuff in the house I have managed to resist!

Another good day today though coming in at around 1400 cals and 9k steps.
