2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

1465 kcal today and a 4km walk.

No breakfast
Cuppa soup and apple and crisps for lunch
Bangers and mash, carrots and gravy for tea.

Nuts as a snack. Nuts are surprisingly high in calories!!

Not enough water!

recklessgran · 20/09/2023 21:35

@RigorMortisRadio have you tried making sugar free jellies - they keep in the fridge for a few days are really frugal and satisfy my need for something sweet at only a few calories each. If all else fails I keep mini bags of maltesers that normally have about 8 in for about 98 calories.

SoonToBeSkinnyHiker · 21/09/2023 01:29

OK - 2 stone down by Christmas feels do-able.
Stats:
5'7"
Sw: 16st 6lbs
Xmas wt: 14st 6lbs
Goal wt: 10 st
Onward and up, er, downward...

Seddon · 21/09/2023 01:45

I tried Pilates yesterday, it felt so gentle and low impact at the time but boy am I feeling it now, there's not a single part of my body that hasn't been exercised! Highly recommended.

Popped on a pair of tracksuit bottoms this morning and they baggy around my bum to the point of looking a bit silly. But I will wear that bagginess with pride Grin

Off for a swim later. A slow 20 laps with 4-5 sprints mixed in for HIIT.

good morning all! hello to the new people and well done to those who have already had good losses!
i must say, i am saving money as well as weight now that im not buying takeaway dominoes and mcdonalds from uber eats which is great. it adds up so fast.
today im in a meeting most of the morning so after will make some toast, butter, egg and beans for lunch. dinner will be whatever i can find in the cupboards. porridge for snack and we've got some fruit that needs eating too.
its terrible weather outside, really cold and rainy.

I’ve found I’m saving a lot of money too, one day I’ll go through my bank statements to find out the exact figure but I genuinely think I spent thousands on deliveroo/Ubereats during the pandemic. I was ordering takeaway multiple times a week for about 2 years - on top of getting my weekly grocery delivery.

Well I've weighed this morning as my week is going to go downhill from here (hence I originally planned to start next week). My best friend is home from abroad and we have a weekend of lots of food and drink planned. I'll try to be sensible for breakfasts and lunches but I'm putting no pressure on myself, things like this will always crop up so I need to learn to incorporate them into a healthy lifestyle and get straight back on it Monday.

Having said that I've lost 4lbs since Monday! I know a couple of lbs were water weight as they dropped off on Tuesday but still really happy I've then dropped a further two so hopefully that can be my motivation next week!

Isthiscorrect · 21/09/2023 09:17

@Seddon
You should rename yourself baggypants. We would all cheer you on. Well done.

recklessgran · 21/09/2023 09:23

Morning, day 4 already! All good so far I think. Not exercising much but at least I haven't had any bread or biscuits. I blew the 800 calories yesterday by 160 but even so I'm happy with that really. Today is soup for lunch and ham and eggs for dinner with a big salad for veg content. I'm off to make some sugar free jellies now by way of desserts in case I need something sweet - they work out at about 6 calories each so are virtually free. The other thing I've discovered is that pate is surprisingly low in calories so if you fancy a savoury snack it's quite nice on a stick of celery. Thank you so much for this thread @RedDoughnut - it's definitely helping me to keep going despite my minor transgressions. Have a good day everyone.

i don't know the exact damage of mine either but i think im right up there with you. there's one takeaway near me which shows you exactly how much youve ever spent there - terrible as i can see ive spent over £800 just on that one in two years! cant imagine how much it all is all together. not feasible at the moment as cost of living means i have had to cut back. hopefully the next few months will be good on both my waistline and my wallet and ill be able to indulge at christmas 😌

Boyboyboy10 · 21/09/2023 09:50

I'm def in.

SW 12.9lbs
CW 12.2lbs
GW for Xmas 10.7lbs

I'm 6ft 1 & age 52.

Every time I want to reach for junk/sugar/crap I keep reminding myself how I will feel if come Xmas I have not reached my goal or anywhere near my goal. I'm doing a hell of a lot of gym work and very low carb with lots of protein/salad/veg/water and tying to avoid snacking.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 21/09/2023 18:26

welcome!

had leftover curry for lunch, it was vegetarian but i think ill eat the rest of the leftovers with chicken. would like to get some more protein in me :)

thank goodness its nearly friday - i know weekends are a nightmare for some but for me i like having the extra time to make more home cooked food, i always make enough to have leftovers. we finally did our big food shop.

need some exercise too this weekend so will drag myself out for a walk. does anyone else feel like they always need a "reason" to go out walking? if i dont go to a shop at the end or something like that i feel like i was wasting time. but being active and getting outside in the sun (or rain) shouldnt be seen as wasted time!

I always find I eat much more healthier at the weekends too. Weekdays are pretty stressful here with getting everything sorted for my DCs and going to work, I'm so fried by the evenings that I just want to eat everything I can get my hands on!

Another good day here, finishing on 1200 cals. Going out for lunch tomorrow and will have some wine in the evening so the 300 cals I've saved today will help me out tomorrow! I'm weighing tomorrow morning, hoping for a few lbs off.

mellongoose · 21/09/2023 20:44

Finished on 1200 here too. Not that healthy though!

No breakfast, pasty for lunch and steak for dinner!! No walk either, as DH out, so need to be in for DC. Will try again tomorrow.

How about going on local FB and ask if anyone wants their dog walked..great incentive for walking ! My dog is benefiting as well 😊🐾

jeomeollibyeoldul · 22/09/2023 09:51

^ thats actually a brilliant idea, id probably have to stick with the small dogs though as im not the most experienced with dogs and not confident a big dog couldnt pull me off my feet :D

so glad we are getting our shopping in today as we've run completely out of food! i must have been raiding the cupboards more than we thought.

have a doctors appointment later today so will walk down, weather is actually looking nice. after that will cook enough dinner to have leftovers all weekend. ill make some lovely pork belly with rice and eggs. its not exactly low calorie but its healthy nourishing food and i will have a reasonable portion of it.

PinkArt · 22/09/2023 10:37

17'13 today
Was 18'1
Overall loss 2 pounds
I'm pleased with that as I'd had a very unhealthy weekend before joining the thread, so didn't think I'd be off to a great start.

RedDoughnut · 22/09/2023 13:58

@PinkArt keep that up and you will be in the 15s at Christmas

Weigh day today and 3lbs off. That's 1st 1lb in 3 weeks. Hope everyone else is getting the results they want.

@midnightglow29 . That's amazing! Well done.

Very good, well done.

I have an "easy day" on a Friday and have a takeaway and g&Ts. Had a nice lunch from Itsu as well for about 500 cals, but had just had a coffee for breakfast.

Weekends I have about 1700 calories a day but am more active than during the week as I'm not sitting down for work for 7 hours. On Saturday I go to the gym and do housework and end up with about 17,000 steps and on Sunday do a longer dog walk with DH, sometimes about 20,000 for Sundays.

Also during the weekend I have half a bag of Twirl bites and a packet of crisps. We sometimes have a roast dinner on Sunday but not all the time. Sometimes our walks have a pub at the end. DDs could join us but would rather have a lie in.

RigorMortisRadio · 22/09/2023 14:35

Well done to everyone for the losses so far!

RigorMortisRadio · 22/09/2023 14:39

I've just been shopping and bought a lovely fluffy jacket but even XL was a little tight around the top of my arms and the zip does go up but only just so my first mini goal is for that to fit a bit more comfortably by the time it's cold enough to wear!

PinkArt · 22/09/2023 15:23

@RedDoughnut I daren't think that optimistically yet, but I feel more confident than I have in a while. This group aim is a great goal.
