2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Day 2!

@Seddon in a post below used the phrase "throw everything at it for 12 weeks"

I like that! At this moment it feels do-able. Possibly because I can picture relaxing at Christmas and eating more!

Yep, I need to go hard and see results quickly or I lose motivation.

Once I'm at goal weight I'll do 5:2 or 4:3 fasting for long term maintenance. I'm 50s so resigned to a lifetime of eating like a bird if I want to stay slim.

shearwater · 19/09/2023 13:03

@Seddon I've lost 10lbs in two weeks- more than when I started on Very Fast 800. Though I think much of that in week 1 was holiday gain and water retention.

I can't eat very much less or it would impact on my exercise routine and throw me off-kilter.

TrialbySourdough · 19/09/2023 14:38

A good day so far - trying for 1500 calories a day.

I'm trying to eat in a way I can maintain longterm, so 3 meals a day of our usual family food at usual times - 8, 1, 7ish - and about a 300 - 500 - 600 split of meals. Plus a small snack or a couple mugs of white tea with 1 sugar. No sweets at all.

It's only been a week and a half of this, but it certainly does feel better.

Well done to everyone who
is making progress!

Can I ask please, what is everyone eating for breakfast?

shearwater · 19/09/2023 15:34

I tend to wait until 11am and have brunch.

Today I had a piece of wholemeal toast with houmous and salmon, cucumber and celery sticks and cherry tomatoes

Usually a combination of raw salad veg and then a couple of protein/fat elements (pulses, beans, chicken, fish, tofu, cheese, avocado, houmous, oil, nuts) and sometimes a starchy carb, depending on what else I'm having that day.

I loosely follow 16:8 e.g. skip breakfast and don't snack after my tea, I drink plenty of water in the morning which subsides the hunger then if I'm really struggling I will have a coffee.

easilydistracted1 · 19/09/2023 16:53

Well I started off very unplanned and had a big pre cooked delicious but rather fried gousto meal to eat up. Was very hungry on the first day. Today I'm doing better but still up to about 1000 calories so will aim at sticking to 5-600 for dinner. Finding the meal plans and ideas really helpful

I leave it until after 11am, then is usually something with an egg or two.

Scrambled or an omelette or a boiled egg with soldiers.

Keeps me going until tea time (maybe a sneaky cuppa soup in between).

shearwater · 19/09/2023 18:39

I've had 1163 calories today (supposed to be 1000 but never mind) but a whopping 96g of protein, largely down to lentils, peas, yogurt, milk & chicken breast, and I'm feeling pretty full after my dinner. 💪

Isthiscorrect · 19/09/2023 18:43

Not sure what happened today I was completely off the rails. Didn't have any breakfast because I'm doing 16:8. But I made a cake for a friend coming round and for DH. Had a whopping slice victoria sponge with fresh cream and jam. Absolutely no idea but probably 1000 calories? I had a 6th instead of an 8th and it had fresh cream. The recipe says their slice had 578 calories so I'm just guessing. And for dinner I had one fajita wrap (homemade leftovers) 340 calories and about 20'oven chips because I cooked them for DH.
Back to the drawing board tomorrow.

motherofawhirlwind · 19/09/2023 18:45

Apparently 11 portions of veg today, to make up for yesterday's very poor showing Halo

B: crumpet thins with marmite, caramel latte - 331
L: massive Grin salad with pasta and sprinkle cheese (lettuce, cucumber, tomato, sweetcorn, beetroot, carrot) - 723
S - choc buttons
D: cottage pie, airfryer new potatoes and carrots, peas - 470

Am feeling good so far!

theotherfossilsister · 19/09/2023 18:49

I'm 12 stone but short. My problem was letting myself eat what I wanted for a year when struggling to breastfeed, and now eating all ds's leftovers and matching dp's portions

jeomeollibyeoldul · 19/09/2023 18:49

had sushi at work today as planned with crisps. dinner was chicken and mango (not together :D) and had a kinder bueno as my snack. hot chocolate for breakfast (had to rush to office and had it to tide me over before lunch). got my steps in as went to post office at lunch time and then walked to shops after work. still doing well - planning what im going to make for the weekend and im planning homemade curry with lots of veggies and then simmered pork.

RigorMortisRadio · 19/09/2023 19:18

Day two gone ok here, I knew it was someone's birthday at work so left myself a spare 500 calories to have a bid of cake in the office which was nice as it meant I didn't feel the inevitable guilt. Also hit 7k steps which is great for a weekday for me!

I'm feeling quite hungry even though I've finished eating for the night and had a big tea so going to drink some water and hope that helps.

Making these turkey meatballs to portion up for dinner tonight and the rest of the week. I can eat the sauce with a spoon. Think I’ll have it with cauliflower rice rather than usual mashed potato.

those look so delicious!

@Isthiscorrect

If that's all you had, in terms of calories it's not so bad. I estimate the cake as being around 770!

And tomorrow is a new day. Well actually scrap that. Start now and don't do what I would have done and think Sod It and eat more.

I was so very close to reaching for the biscuits after doing really well for the last 2 days but after reading the comments on here about losing weight after just a couple of weeks, I left them alone.
Breakfast was 2 slices whole meal toast
Lunch was jacket potato with left over bolognaise from last night
Dinner was gammon, eggs and home made wedges.
Snacks, 2 x bananas

MoiraBebe · 19/09/2023 19:39

I have also made some tomato soup ready to put in a food flask for tomorrow which I'm hoping will keep me full enough between meals so I don't reach for the chocolate 🤞🏻 here's hoping

RedDoughnut · 19/09/2023 19:42

My calorie total is around 1300. It's a rough estimate as I don't weigh everything.
Still room for a hot chocolate later.

My will power is being tested every time I open the fridge and toast is my nemesis!

Breakfast is usually Shredded Wheat minis with semi-skimmed milk and berries. Or porridge, also with milk and berries. Sometimes plain active yoghurt with frozen mango and oats and seeds.

PinkArt · 19/09/2023 21:26

Doing well so far. I had the last of the Magnums yesterday as I knew it'd just keep shouting at me otherwise, but now they're done they're done. I've been hungry by tea time both days which feels like a good sign, although I might add an afternoon snack.
I had a very unhealthy weekend so I'm not expecting great things when I weigh in this week, but one step at a time.

mellongoose · 19/09/2023 21:33

Weirdly, my calories came in at 1200 today, yet I feel bloated!!

Will weigh in when I get up in the morning.
