2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Can I join please ?

Start- 15st 7lb
Height - 5ft 3
BMI - 38.9

Want to lose 5st in total so 2 stone by Christmas would be a great start !

I honestly don't recognise myself in the mirror these days. I've always been heavy but It really shows now 😕

lozrox90 · 18/09/2023 20:00

I'm also going to post my stats for accountability!

Start weight: 14st 7lbs
Height: 5' 7"
Goal weight: 11st

Winterscomingagain · 18/09/2023 20:11

5ft 1 and I weighed 12st 4 in February 2019, 10st 8lb now but need to lose more.
I've been plagued with illness recently and my walking has reduced quite a lot. Sometimes I'm just happy to remain stable but I will be trying hard over the next few weeks. I've a 38g bust which I'd dearly love to reduce but my pathetically tiny backside is where I seem to lose weight from.

Mammyontheedge · 18/09/2023 22:03

Okay so I finally weighed myself.

91.6 kg
176 cm
BMI 30

Target 70 kg /BMI 23

My habits I want to change are emotional eating especially at night and too much convenience food.

motherofawhirlwind · 18/09/2023 22:23

I'd recommend Body Project for home workouts too. There's some on YouTube and lots are low intensity as one of the instructors (Daniel) has buggered knees. I have an entirely buggered knee currently (torn miniscus) so can't manage much at all but hoping to get back to it at some point!

Good day today calories wise at least....
Brunch: Eggs Royale - 542
Snack: Giant Wotsits - 522 Hmm
Dinner: Spag Bol - 575

Need to eat some veg tomorrow Blush

HoliHormonalTigerLillyTheSecond · 18/09/2023 22:28

Yes! Let's do it OP!! 🙌

Woahbodyforrrrm · 18/09/2023 22:31

I'd love to join! I'll weigh in tomorrow and try and dig out my tape measure and report back.

I'm really looking forward to giving this a really good bash with you all!!

Shoemadlady · 18/09/2023 22:53

I'm in!

Chloe799 · 19/09/2023 02:10

Hi, id love to join this, I've lost 1 stone so far and would love to get another 2 off by Xmas. I weigh on a Friday/Saturday if theres any one else that weights the same day x

Seddon · 19/09/2023 04:02

I'm in the office today (not in UK hence weird posting times) and delighted to report that my work pants are fitting nicely again, just a couple of weeks ago they were feeling quite strained! They are XL though, so still a long way to go but it's progress. Hopefully these will be so big they're unwearable by the end of October! A couple of old pairs, much smaller, are stashed away in anticipation Smile

I've been absolutely spot on with my eating, not a single hiccup since I started this on Monday 4th. This is the first time I've followed such a strict diet for so long! It's really easy and I'm only really hungry/thinking about food for the last half hour or so before the next meal.

The 12 week plan - I'm throwing everything at this - Fast 800, 16:8 fasting, low carb, Mediterranean, gut friendly. I eat pretty much the same thing each day at roughly 11am-3pm-7pm:

  1. plain Greek yoghurt with some berries or apple, nuts, seeds
  2. a big main meal - lots of veg + tofu, eggs or fish
  3. snacky thing e.g. boiled egg, carrot, few olives + almond milk protein shake

Black coffee, green/herbal teas and water only. I am taking a few supplements in case I'm missing anything important. Exercise everyday, at least 1 (normally 2) out of walking, swimming, yoga, weights, core strength. I'm not doing anything strenuous that's going to injure me and set me right back - too old!

MooFroo · 19/09/2023 04:51

Yes pls -

5”5 49 year old woman with bad eating habits and low activity levels and lots of excuses! Type 2 diabetic who needs to reserve it, lower cholesterol and manage BP - losing weight will help with all these recent medical issues as well as peri meno.

Weight to follow but is roughly

current - 97kg / 15.4 stone

by Xmas goal - 84 kg /13.4 stone
Have grown into a size 20 - goal to be size 14 by Xmas 2023

I weighed today for the thread but will be changing it to Friday as even if I have a calorie counted glass of wine/takeaway at the weekend I retain water like crazy which doesn't 'fall off' until Tuesday/Wednesday so Monday isn't a great weigh day for me.

Mum2aTeen · 19/09/2023 06:57

I would love to join too.

I'm 170 cm
82kgs
I was 80kgs in April but would like to lose about 5kgs. Winter was bad for me (I'm in Australia, so now it's spring). I ate too much junk food. I just want to see the 70kg again (not exact 70kg, but even mid to even high 70's).
I need to start shopping better food wise and go on more walks or do more exercise biking/YouTube yoga, but this is where I get stuck in my rut. I get tired then really hungry, then just put it off.
Last year, I was 77kg but went through 2 hip replacements, which should make me feel more alive, but then winter comes, and I don't feel like doing anything, lol.

We have a special holiday planned in November, so I would love to get some off by then.

FreshStart12345 · 19/09/2023 06:59

Good morning slimmers!

I managed to avoid the 9pm munchies and didn't snack post dinner which is a massive win for me. Finished the day on 1696 calories so under goal.

Today is my first day at a new job though so no 9am trips to the gym any more. I set my alarm for 5.30am to go but ended up turning it off and going back to sleep for half hour (no surprise there really). Not entirely sure when I will fit the gym in as I prefer mornings to evenings but my gosh, it's an early start.

Also had to make a packed lunch for the first time in two months. I look like a 5 yr old with my pom bears, lunchable and fruit stars. Still, 422 calories for the lot.

Good luck to everyone today, keep making those good choices

mellongoose · 19/09/2023 07:32

Yesterday was

Breakfast: none
Lunch : chicken wrap, nuts, hazelnut yoghurt
Snack: more nuts
Dinner: home made chicken & veg curry, but with home made chips 🙈 (had no rice, but made them from scratch in the oven, not a fryer).

1500 kcal

Walked 5km

RedDoughnut · 19/09/2023 07:46

Day 2!

@Seddon in a post below used the phrase "throw everything at it for 12 weeks"

I like that! At this moment it feels do-able. Possibly because I can picture relaxing at Christmas and eating more!

OP posts:
chalkyc2 · 19/09/2023 08:11

Can I join you all? I'm mid way on a bigger weight loss plan but to be down 2 stone between now and Christmas would be a great mini goal!

I started back in April, and have been focusing on no sugar or bread/pasta/rice. It's been tough but I'm feeling better! I usually do my weekly log on a Thursday (random - but that's the day I started with an omg moment in the scales!) so I'll count from this Thursday.

recklessgran · 19/09/2023 08:15

Morning everyone - yes @RedDoughnut I love that "throw everything at it for 12 weeks" mantra too - it's a great reminder that this level of hardcore deprivation isn't forever. I've had a look at the walking youtubes and might do one of those a day too. I'm a fan of swing so at the moment do one or two swing dance lessons a day but the walking ones will make a change.
Day 1 went well for me coming in at 780 calories and was all healthy, low carb food due to no spare calories for treats. This is great for me as I'm useless at moderation which is something I need to work on especially for later in terms of not undoing all the good work. Have a good day all. I'll be sticking to Monday weigh day as it's the only way I'll stay on track over the weekends.

RedDoughnut · 19/09/2023 08:31

@chalkyc2 yes of course.
There are a few on the thread who have been losing weight before signing up, me included. I'm conscious I have signed up to threads before and just lost focus. I'm hoping that I can keep the momentum going this time.

OP posts:
Hubblebubble · 19/09/2023 08:41

Yesterday was:
Decaf coffee with milk and a slice of toast with peanut butter.
Snack: tea with 2 malt milk biscuits because I'd got some in for the tradie and then couldn't exercise self control. A protein bar.
An hours weight lifting class (15 min walk there and back)
Two cheese scones with cheese.
Another coffee and 2 more biscuits.
Dinner was a home made udon noodle and tomatoey stew thing with corgettes, peppers and garlicy herby meatballs.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 19/09/2023 08:56

I ordered an air fryer and at that time envisioned cooking kinds of chips/chicken wings/breaded creations. It’s still in its box. Does anyone have any healthier ish or protein based air fryer favourites?

beeswaxinc · 19/09/2023 10:09

Well done everyone so far 🤗

Yesterday was a good day in terms of calorie defecit but bad in terms of what I ate; meal 1 was a double serving of meal replacement shake on its own (I prefer to eat food especially veg alongside these) and in the evening I was so busy and tired the only thing I ate was chips from other peoples left overs.....

Back on track today, have prepped first meal which is spinach, cottage cheese and mature cheddar mixed, and mackerel with one slice of rye. Dinner will be something lean and chicken based, just chicken and some kind of veg.

An air fryer sounds a really good shout @HanarCantWearSweaters , would love to hear some recipes in it too!

Sparky81 · 19/09/2023 11:57

Hi Everyone

Room for another one? 👀
I would love to have weight off for Christmas. 2 stone would be the dream but i'd take anything at this stage. I've more to go after that but its been sooooo long since i've actually lost anything more than a few pounds without piling it on again.

Height: 5ft 5
Weight: 224lb
Goal for Christmas: 196lb

Method: Fast 800 / IF 10am - 6pm

This is also my first post, i'm more of a lurker. I'm hoping by writing it down and speaking to like minded people it will keep me more mindful and I might last more than 4 days!!😩

shearwater · 19/09/2023 12:43

Weigh in went well, 2lbs off this week so 1st 10bs to go, 10lbs lost so far.

I am focused but not doing anything extreme or unsustainable- I did Very Fast 800 successfully (in terms of weight loss) in 2021 but regained the weight quickly when normal life resumed after lockdown and it made me go a bit mad and bingey with carbs and alcohol, when I had managed to stop any bingeing or emotional eating years before, and my hair started to fall out after doing it for 8 weeks.

  • Variable calories based on 5:2 - it's basically 5:2 with a caffe latte for breakfast on fast days, so about 1000 calories. Or a bit like the old Wendi plan on WW.
  • One day I have about 2000 calories - Fridays when I have a takeaway and a couple of G&Ts.
  • On other days I eat 1300-1800 calories, averaging 1700.
  • I have kept alcohol down to 8 units a week.
  • Am recording everything on Nutracheck
  • I eat low(ish) carbs, keeping it at 100-150g a day mostly (less on low calories days) and everything wholegrain/wholewheat for bread/pasta/rice
  • I try to minimise highly processed food and eat a lot of veg and some fruit - a lot of celery (great for magnesium!)
  • I eat 80-100g protein a day if I can - a lot of plant based, also fish and chicken. I try and eat 20g - 30g fibre. I've built muscle and lost fat eating this way and it's all from natural sources, no supplements.
  • I do 16:8 most days too - just have brunch and dinner (aside from the milky coffees)
  • Exercise - I've built up a good routine now for nearly a year of going to the gym 3 x a week- 1 cardio only session, 2 x weights and cardio, and I also do a yoga class once a week (all takes about 5 hours a week in total) and walk as much as possible, averaging about 12,000 steps a day.
  • Maintenance will be 6:1 and otherwise keeping calories pretty similar to now if it doesn't leave me too hungry/tired/losing too much weight etc.
  • I'm 48 and peri-menopausal. Goal weight is 11st, BMI 24.2.
shearwater · 19/09/2023 12:45

Oh yeah, there are also a lot of sachets of Merchant Gourmet/Aldi puy lentils in my life.

Several meals are - what am I going to have with my lentils today? 😆
