2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Yes please. I would be happy with 14lbs by Christmas.

midnightglow29 · 18/09/2023 11:43

Me too. I am currently just calorie counting. What is everyone else doing?

Roughly calorie counting too. A lot of the time calorie estimating but it seems to be working. :)

I'm just trying to eat healthier in general, so more fruit and veg and cut out the chocolate. I struggle with snacking so have stocked up on fruit but I am a bit of a fruit dodger so I'll be keeping an eye out on this thread for snack suggestions.I might change up how I'm doing it if I struggle but I'll start off on the common sense road.

No breakfast, not because I'm fasting but because it's unusual for me to want food in the morning

Lunch -- the famous Mumsnet massive salad with 100g of low fat feta, a few walnuts and some sweet chilli Philadelphia in the celery.
Followed by a Light and free yoghurt ( 57 calories!! Bargain)

But bloody hell... walnuts! 700 calories for 100 grams!

I think I had around 200 calories worth so lesson learned for next time.

@HanarCantWearSweaters I'm glad you are here! I hope we can support you. Post lots of you feel tempted!

I've never fancied any sort of weight loss surgery as I don't trust myself. I reckon I could liquidise a Mars Bar and work around things.

@Losingmymind85

Oh no! What have you had so far?
I was like that last night and so I ate a whole punnet of raspberries to myself, they were perfect. But they make an expensive snack!

@recklessgran have you had a look at YouTube for some exercises to get your steps up.

Someone on another thread recommended Get Fit With Rick to me and I've taken to him! He has loads of walking workouts which are very basic but there is lots of different music to chose from and some he films outside. He's based in Dubai so the background is lovely. It brings some sunshine into my living room.

Just remember if ur having low calorie options they are normally loaded with sugar. So check the sugar amounts. The less sugar u have the more weight u will loose weekly. Choosing fruit sugars over low calorie options is better for u.

Losingmymind85 · 18/09/2023 12:55

Two cups of tea and scrambled eggs with a handful of cherry tomatoes.

I'm having soup and GF crackers for lunch, then a handful of grapes and an apple.
For dinner I'm going to make a stew which will do they next 3 nights.
I'm so used to breakfast bars (obsessed with Treks) that I'm just struggling with the drop in sugar. I'll be fine by Friday.

I e had an omelette with feta and broccoli and smoked salmon. About 500 cals. Bit I’ve done three fitness classes today so was like the hungry caterpillar.

I know from experience I probably won’t be hungry again before 7ish

FreshStart12345 · 18/09/2023 14:40

Breakfast was a bowl of branflakes with soya milk

I went to the gym for my 30minute power walk on the treadmill, came home and had a handful of grapes

McDonald's for lunch but I had a salad and have a bit of a sweet craving so going to have some Cadbury's trail mix.

Jacket potato and baked beans for dinner later.

Going well so far, my weakness is 9pm though.

Omg three!! I can barely manage one

Daisyislazy · 18/09/2023 14:42

I've had protein bagel with some peanut butter and banana, roast chicken for dinner and I will just have veg with mine

A walk is planned for later

FannyBawz · 18/09/2023 15:17

@Daisyislazy

Ah it was only the easier ones - yoga pilates and aquafit- I am months away from even thinking about three cardio classes hahaha

highly recommend all 3 though for getting neglected joints and muscles back into action!

shearwater · 18/09/2023 16:08

I was very hungry after the gym and had to also go food shopping. Bought mushy peas which I don't normally have but just really fancied some. Had half a tin with hot smoked salmon, cherry tomatoes, celery, then had toast and then crisps (oh dear for the crisps). Must have been lacking salt!

Ah well, I have yoga this evening also and to give the dog a walk and should come in at about 1900 calories for the day and will have burned off 1000 in exercise (apparently- I always think FitBit overeggs it).

Weigh in tomorrow - hope the crisps haven't ruined it!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 18/09/2023 16:12

good to hear everyone starting strong. your food all sounds lovely!
today i had crisps and a rice krispie bar for breakfast after walking to and from the doctor's in the rain. also realised that my favourite coat which was getting tight on me is now loose again so very pleased!
after that, had a beef, edamame and rice bowl for lunch and for dinner will have porridge and toast with butter.

tomorrow will be similar although ill be in the office so will skip breakfast and have lunch out. normally i get sushi, crisps/fruit and a drink.
need to do another food shop as well and funds are a bit tight this month after trip away so will stock up on the cheap healthy things i like - chicken, egg, porridge, wholemeal bread, salad, yoghurt most likely.
exercise is walking at the moment. its my favourite form of exercise and no plan to do weightlifting or gymming right now.

LSOTW · 18/09/2023 16:32

My joints could be doing with that!

RigorMortisRadio · 18/09/2023 18:16

As expected weigh in this morning was the same as last week (not really been trying) and 17.5st. 5'3 and a size 20 just.

Today has gone well, instead of 2 pittas and hummus for lunch I had one and then a load of carrot sticks. Then I've just had a jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn for tea. Snacks I had skinny latte carton thing at 11am and then just had two fibre one brownies warmed up for 'pud. That's all come to just under 1400 cals and then I've done 5000 steps and was going to do a dance YouTube video or something but might actually take the dog out for a bonus walk.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 18/09/2023 18:32

Thank you @habiller and @RedDoughnut for your kindness. I’m trying to get a bit of hope back. I need to go to the GP but dreading them mentioning my weight. Had a blood test for an unrelated infection last week which showed haemoglobin 88 so I doubt that’s helping things in the energy department.

Slowly making myself a shopping list for Aldi tomorrow. Lots of eggs and feta, yoghurt and berries. I want to try a recipe for crispy baked butter beans I saw on Instagram, hoping they’ll be a substitute for crisps.

sleepismyhobby · 18/09/2023 19:45

Weight in today 14.2
Done ok today I've been really busy doing admin stuff for my work. I'm on 3 training days tomorrow 9.30-5 I've got a pta meeting straight after work tomorrow so I've prepped tea a low fat lasagna . Just need to sort what I'll be taking for lunch

Openmouthinsertfood · 18/09/2023 19:46

Your all doing so well with your activities! I'm pleased that I managed a 10 minute sitting abs routine today. That was good for me as I have CFS and insomnia. Was still awake at 2.30am. Felt shattered this morning but after breakfast I woke up a bit more so did it. :) My aim is to have a flat stomach. I've never had one. Always had a belly. Always found stomach exercises really hard before but for some reason lately I've managed to do them. I might have found it hard because when I engage my tummy, I can't breathe! Anyone else the same, or am I just weird? lol

lozrox90 · 18/09/2023 19:58

First day done, finishing on 1400 kcals. Porridge pot for breakfast, microwave pasta sachet for lunch and had prawns and chips (weighed out!) for dinner. Need to try and get more protein in as I've felt really hungry all day but made the best choices I could seeing as we need to do a food shop. I'm having a bath and an early night to distract myself from snacking!
