2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

I'm in!

Calorie counting as then I get to have treats without guilt and it's easier for family life, I find. Plus, when eating out, I am shocked by the calories on some things... I thought I was making a good choice in the past, but actually really not!

I have blooming loads to lose so it taking til Xmas to drop 2st is depressing, but it's a start and I'd happily take it.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 18/09/2023 07:48

As suspected weighing was
13s 13 lb
5’ 4”
16 bottoms 18 top

if I can get to 12 or nearly by 1 dec when I go on holiday I will be delighted
plan is , high protein , low carb , more veg

let’s go !!

shearwater · 18/09/2023 07:53

Yes please!

I had a huge loss in week one which helped (no doubt a lot of it holiday gain - water retention) and now have 1st 12lbs to lose. Nutracheck says I can do it by early December - LOL - but let's see where we can all get to by Christmas. 2 weeks in now - second weigh in tomorrow. Motivation is pretty high still.

BindyCeale · 18/09/2023 07:53

Morning, I forgot to weigh myself this morning. Great start!

Will definitely remember in the morning.

I did an online food shop which is coming in a bit, no sweet foods were ordered.

Good luck everyone.

melissasummerfield · 18/09/2023 07:58

Me please! If i lost 28lb by xmas i would be ecstatic, I need to loose around 10stone in total so it is achievable!

calorie counting works best for me, and i like to swim and walk so will be doing that too.

easilydistracted1 · 18/09/2023 08:08

@OrangesLemonsLimes different adoption agencies have different rules. But you have to have a medical and I am sure it will come up at my current weight.

easilydistracted1 · 18/09/2023 08:11

Weighed in this morning. 13 stone 1 pound at 5 foot 3. Not great and I am feeling the effects plus nothing fits. Combination of pcos, getting older and a very long commute that I've just got rid off. Mixed feelings about this but somethings not to work!

shearwater · 18/09/2023 08:16

@RedDoughnut You've made great progress already to lose weight and keep it off. Well done, keep doing what you are doing.

GoodDream · 18/09/2023 08:21

Morning! Off we go.

Today's weight: 11st 9
Goal for Monday 18th Dec WI: 10st

That's basically two pounds a week, with a little wiggle room for upcoming events. Tough but hopefully doable. Even if I only manage a stone that would be great as it would get me (just!) into a healthy BMI.

Start weight in 2021 was 16st 10.5 so I'm definitely taking the scenic route 😂

stemmedroses · 18/09/2023 08:27

I'm in.

I was 19st 9 on Saturday.

Weight has been creeping up by about a stone a year for a few years and I have been in denial.

Usually I get tied up in self-loathing but this time, I am not going to consider this a moral failing. It's just fat, it goes on so it can come off.

RedDoughnut · 18/09/2023 08:43

Those of us with school age children or who work in education it's 5 weeks to half term ( most areas it's the last week of October)so allowing for a slightly larger loss in the first week
one stone off by half term is a possibility!

Morning. So weighed myself. Not quite as bad as I thought - 70kg so 11st 0.2lbs. However I’m only 5’4” so it shows.

aiming for a stone and a half off

recklessgran · 18/09/2023 09:00

Morning, can I join please?
My start weight this morning is 15st dead.
My plan is low carb,, 800 calories with an eating window of 12-8pm,
My problem is bread - carb crack to me so my best bet is to have NO bread whatsoever - in fact I intend to have very little in the way of carbs as they really don't seem to suit me at all. Logging everything on MFP so hoping that will help me keep on track.
I started step counting a couple of weeks ago as I'm really lazy. I found that I was only doing about 500 steps a day before but now I aim for a minimum of 4000. I know this won't help with weight loss but it's an improvement healthwise and I intend to keep increasing my steps once the weight starts coming off.
I'm 67 with an underactive thyroid which is medicated and also on hormone blockers for previous BC so I'm up against it health wise.

CarPour · 18/09/2023 09:06

Can I join please?

Current weight is around 12st (I will need to weight myself properly later)
I would like to weight 10st/9st 10ish

Plan is to calorie count to 1200 a day, plus gym 3x a week and increase my daily steps.

FreshStart12345 · 18/09/2023 09:08

I'm joining in. I actually started last week, and lost 2.5lbs. I'm just tracking calories via mfp and exercising more.

SW; 13st 3lb
CW: 13st 0.5lbs
GW: 10st

Would love to be down to 12st by Christmas (well 11 would be amazing but I loose weight very slowly!).

Good luck to everyone

Grumpydogmum · 18/09/2023 09:21

Morning again, @easilydistracted1 you are exactly the same height and weight as me. I’m planning to do the 16:8 diet, I know quite a few people who had great results. Was going to post my measurements but can’t seem to find a tape measure. I will order one from Amazon and put them up. Hoping to get some exercise in too 3-4 times a week. Good luck everyone

Getabloominmoveon · 18/09/2023 09:35

Good morning all. Weighed in at 72.9 today, a bit less than I expected but I am not at home so could get a different reading there.
Been out shopping for my usual diet food: berries, eggs, tomatoes, Greek yoghurt, soup, rye crackers etc. so I can resume what worked for me before - no breakfast, lunch at 12:00, dinner below 500 calories, lots of water.
Let’s Go!!

pandy23 · 18/09/2023 09:44

Morning all

I've done the dreaded weigh in Blush

Here goes:

SW: 12st 3
GW by Christmas: 10st 3
Ultimate GW: 9st or slightly under would be amazing.

Good luck everyone! x

jeomeollibyeoldul · 18/09/2023 10:31

i'm in, i've already been eating healthier for a few weeks after getting through a stressful period earlier in the year and realising i've been subsisting on chocolate cookies and dominoes takeaway 😂

i have not weighed myself in a bit but considering last time i did and how long ive been on this i probably weigh between 70-74kg. i would love to lose about 12kg by christmas but would be perfectly happy with 10kg as well.

im not calorie counting but ive been through these races enough to know what a typically healthy eating plan looks like for me. also making the effort to cook at least twice a week (rest of week is healthy ready meals, leftovers and things like egg/toast/porridge/chicken salad) to get more of that good healthy home cooked food in me.

feeling better already and wishing everyone else much success with their goals!

Openmouthinsertfood · 18/09/2023 11:25

I am shattered today. I suffer from insomnia (Can't get to sleep and wake frequently) and last night did get to sleep till gone 2.30am. Night time is my 'Danger zone.' If I'm gonna mess up, it'll be at night. That's when I get my cravings most. Didn't give in though. :)
Anybody else have a danger zone? Why does it feel so different at night?!

Losingmymind85 · 18/09/2023 11:25

I. Am. So. Hungry.

Letsdothis23 · 18/09/2023 11:33

Hi, count me in please!
I’m 5’8 and weigh around 14 stone. Would love to be 10 and 1/2 stone, but 11 and 1/2 is probably more realistic.
We have a big family holiday coming up at Christmas and I’d love to feel slimmer and more toned for then.
I’m perimenopausal and have some crappy health conditions that can limit the exercise I can do, but I want to get fitter and stronger for holiday so that I’m not holding the rest of the family back.
I will take my measurements later.
I think checking in and seeing how everyone else is getting on will really motivate me. I start off really well and then get stressed and go into ‘sod it’ mode!

MoiraBebe · 18/09/2023 11:34

Losingmymind85 · 18/09/2023 11:25

I. Am. So. Hungry.

Thank god it's not just me!

HanarCantWearSweaters · 18/09/2023 11:36

Only posting my weigh in here because it’s anonymous, too ashamed for anyone in RL to know.

142.6kg / 22.4 stone / 314lbs
5’5”

My heaviest was 158kg. To know how close I am to back there is rough. The worst part is that I lost 7 stone after a private gastric sleeve. And now I’ve undone almost all of it. I have so much shame around that. If people knew. That should have been my final shot and I ruined it.

I’m going to try for high protein, lower carb. But it’s the emotional eating I’m undone by.
