2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

I’m in. Was 88kgs at the end of August 22 but up to 106 again. My thyroid is causing some of it, having lots of tests but 95% of that gain is crisps/sweets/booze. I’m booked to see a nutritionist next week (overseas so easy to get private appointments).

Mammyontheedge · 17/09/2023 18:51

I'll join too please! I've been too scared to weigh myself but this chat is encouraging.

What are the measurements you take?

Mercedesbenz2022 · 17/09/2023 18:57

I’m in
nudging 14 stone which is way overweight for 5’4”

would love 2 stone off .

easilydistracted1 · 17/09/2023 19:05

This is exactly what I need. I'm in. We're applying to adopt in November or December so this will take me in the right direction. Could manage loosing 2 stone but ideally 3 would be good. Will also weigh in Monday

LSOTW · 17/09/2023 19:05

Will also join please ! I need to get a grip of my weight and finally have some motivation to do it - will weigh in tomorrow !

Getabloominmoveon · 17/09/2023 19:24

Could I join as well please? Currently around 74kg, but recent general health check says I need to get to 65 to be in the healthy range. i went from 78 to 67 kg during lockdown, but have gradually piled it on again.
Like other pps I like a drink or three, am a snacker and don’t move enough.
i have got myself a PT who’s weighing me every month but would also like to improve my consistency and hold myself accountable via this group.

Will weigh myself tomorrow morning and post.

Good Luck everyone!!

Crikeyalmighty · 17/09/2023 19:31

Hi ladies

I'm 61 and 5ft 4 - down from 103.5 to 90.2 - but it's taken 10 months! And I've been pretty careful apart from a 2 week holiday in that plus's 4 day business trip . Gallons of water and on average about1400 calories a day.

I walk a lot but have to watch excercise as I've got a neck/spinal issue .

We are away from Wednesday to next Monday , (in uk on business) so aim to come back at 90.2 (that will be a result asa fair bit of socialising )and then start from there. I aim to be 84kg by Xmas. We are in USA for 10 days in late October so I've set myself a slightly less ambitious target.

OrangesLemonsLimes · 17/09/2023 19:33

Do you need to have a BMI below a certain figure to adopt a child?

RigorMortisRadio · 17/09/2023 19:36

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 16:56

I'm delighted that so many people want to try!

It feels achievable as there is an end goal in sight. Even though for those of us with lots of lose it's more of a stop gap

I hope everyone can post regularly and we don't lose focus. I have been on many other diet threads on Mumsnet and it's easy to sign on but harder to stick with.

Currently charging the batteries in my bathroom scales. I'm definitely going to stick with it.

I lost a decent amount of weight about 8 years ago after joining a thread on here/it turned into a lovely supportive fb group, put it all and much much more back on and I've never managed to stick to another thread since Blush. But I really, really need to sort myself out this time.

MrsGray26 · 17/09/2023 19:39

2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.
gohomeroger1 · 17/09/2023 19:41

I started at the start of August at 14st 5, currently 13st 11..So roughly a 1lb a week so I am aiming for another stone by Christmas.

Height- 5ft 6
Starting weight -14st 5
Current weight - 13st 11
Target for Christmas - 12st 11
End Target - 12st 6

MoiraBebe · 17/09/2023 19:50

I'd love to join as I have probably 4 or 5 stone that I should lose but would be more than happy with about 3. I have a holiday booked for next year and the thought of it makes me shudder if I don't do something about my weight. I will weigh tomorrow and post.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 17/09/2023 19:54

I'll join for accountability. Am starting tomorrow. Got all my meals for the week planned out plus the exercise (all walking as bus times have changed so won't start until after my work shift starts, no choice but to get those steps in).

I've got around 5-7 stone to loose. 5 stone loss would take me to the very top end of a healthy BMI, 7 stone loss would take me to the weight I was at 18 where I felt incredible. I'm not sure where is best for me now as an almost 37 year old mother of 2 😂

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 17/09/2023 19:58

Guess I should post my stats too....

5'3
Current weight: 15 stone 7 and size 18-20
Target weight: between 8 stone 7 and 10 stone.

I'd like to join please. I've been reading the weight loss section since before the summer holidays and have been meaning to join in a group, so-Ta da! :D
I started at the end of May at 14st 1lb. Two weeks ago I hit a wall and had been struggling. However, I came across a book called The Kindness Method. It's about changing your habits, but in a nice way. It's helped me so far.
I was on 1000-1200 cal a day but it was too low. This week I have started on 1400 cals a day. Weigh on Saturday morning so will see how it's working then! I want to lose what I can before December 1st-My 50th birthday! I am a bit worried about all this dieting, then eating lots of chocolate at Christmas. lol I shall try my best not to indulge too much!
Age 49
Hight 5ft 6.5"
Method Calorie counting
Start weight May 14st 1lb
Current weight 11st 8.4 lbs
Goal by December -7lbs
Over all goal, 10st

Isthiscorrect · 17/09/2023 20:16

Count me in please.
I've never been able to loose weight. But in June this year I got food poisoning and lost some weight and my appetite. Always a silver lining. Since June I've lost I've lost 3 kilos. I'm pleased at that. But by crikey it's hard. I used to have 2-3 glasses of wine every night now I only drink outside the house so once maybe twice a week. I'm calorie counting as well, about 1500 and intermittent fasting 16-8. It's such a slog. I'd love to say 2 stone by Christmas but 1kg (2.2lbs) a month isn't much reward for hard work. My target is 7kgs by Christmas. So just over a stone.
I dont exercise and I know that's the problem. I do have dodgy knees and fat feet so I can't get trainers to fit. Also I procrastinate all the time. Hopefully this thread will keep me on track.
Good luck everyone.

throughgrittedteeth · 17/09/2023 20:17

Oh oh I'm in! I'm currently at the end of my first week doing the 16:8, weighing in tomorrow - it's not been too bad but I need to start getting more nutritionally dense food into my diet.

YukoandHiro · 17/09/2023 20:17

pandy23 · 17/09/2023 10:09

Please can I join you!
I have 3 stone to lose but would love to lose 2 by Christmas as I have a wedding to go to around that time too.

Im short so every pound shows and in desperate need to sort it out.

Are u following anything? x

I'm short and really notice every lb too.

I've only got about 6-8lb to lose but they both cling on and really show.

Goneback2school · 17/09/2023 20:30

Can I join too, need some accountability. I started Noom on a whim on August 20th. My weight was 96.4kg. Since then I've been watching calories, generally staying well below my daily allowance but not going hungry. Im also allowing myself one down day a week. As of Friday I was 91.6kg. Hoping to get to 80kg by Christmas. Will have more to lose but will reassess then.

beeswaxinc · 17/09/2023 20:31

I would love to join Smile It would be motivating to see other people's success!

Like another poster I'm not comfortable at this stage sharing how much I need to lose, but am hoping to succeed this time. 2 stone gone would be an amazing way to set up for continuing next year!

I've been listening to Andrew Huberman's podcasts and they have been incredibly eye opening. Having a better understanding of how and why things work is easier for me to process than just knowing that they work. It feels like I have a much more thorough "game plan" than usual.

My biggest hurdle is getting back on track after a slip up. The days after a binge or day of eating crap are really difficult for me to navigate in terms of cravings and I have a frequent pattern of doing really well, feeling great, then something like Valentine's day or a birthday comes along, I eat loads of sugar and it feels like my body or brain physically rebels against going back into a calorie deficit.

I know rationally that it's just the sugar cravings back but it is soooo hard to overcome the physical urge to over eat. If I can crack this I will be okay I think!

smc2023 · 17/09/2023 20:37

I'm in too please!

5'2"
68 kg size 10
Want to be 55 kg
Need to lose 2 stone...I'm scared but excited really need accountability to feel a bit of pressure 😅

Grumpydogmum · 17/09/2023 20:58

Can I join in too please. Will make Monday my weigh in day, so will post that tomorrow.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 17/09/2023 21:08

I’d like to join too please. Gotten myself into a rotten place again. Pre covid I had lost 7 stone, I’m going to weigh myself in the morning but I’m pretty sure I’ve gained nearly all of it back by now. Just keep cycling into feeling so negative and critical and that makes it harder to make the changes. 2 stone by Christmas would be phenomenal. Mid March I go back to my home country for the first time in 3 years so ideally if I could lose more that would be great. I really hope this will be it this time.

63WarwickAvenue · 17/09/2023 21:20

Hi all - I'm in.

Weight 10st 13lb - most of which feels like it's on my stomach 🙄
Goal 9st 7lb

We can do it!
