2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Hi All. I've had a terrible three weeks - the first two due to big family upset courtesy of my vile mother the third week due to a fabulous holiday in the Canaries from which we returned late last night. Overall it's a massive gain for me but I'm back on the wagon and ready to start all over again.
Start weight 15st exactly
Current weight 14st 10.75lbs
Tat is 6 lbs up on my lowest weight on this thread a month ago. Sigh.
The key is to get back on and keep going right? Eyes on the prize.
Hoping for 14stone by Christmas.
Some great motivating stories on here - let's all keep trying!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 13/11/2023 16:28

welcome back @recklessgran so good to see you again and sorry to hear about your difficulties but holiday sounds wonderful!! i could do with one of those right now!
have been sort of on plan today with some extra snacks. its harder not to snack when its getting so dark and gloomy outside! or at least thats my story. my appetite has been on the up recently...
need to tighten the pursestrings on food though as almost out of money for the month...eagerly awaiting next paycheck...until then itll be beans on toast...

chalkyc2 · 13/11/2023 17:41

Another 2lb down here. Keeping going.

SW for the thread - 14.5
CW 13.2

8 week loss therefore 1.3 stone.

Target - 10.3

Let's keep going!! 6 weeks today is Christmas Day!!

WinterStar1 · 13/11/2023 20:28

Very small loss of 0.4kg today, but I will take it. I'm going for an Indian buffet on Wednesday so this will be my first test. So grateful for this thread as hoping it will keep me on the straight and narrow. Regardless I'm going to enjoy myself Wednesday night and get back on track Thursday. Here's to another great week ladies.

Current loss - 0.4 kg
Total loss - 9.4 kg
Target loss - 12.7 kg

beeswaxinc · 14/11/2023 08:52

Hi all,

Posting for accountability alongside @recklessgran .

I've had an abysmal 3 days plus last Tuesday/Wednesday wasn't great. Really overeating. I actually felt so low for no real reason and felt better once I was back to my old eating habits so I need to unpack that.

I'll be upping vitamins and iron, water intake and self care from tomorrow and will hope to carry on. At the very least I will be bringing it back to maintenance for a couple of weeks.

I don't think I will make the 28lb mark by Christmas now but 19lbs off is wonderful and motivating! I'll adjust my goal and aim for 20lbs off for Christmas.

I am quite big though so if I do manage to rein it in again it is quite possible for me to lose 4 - 5lbs per week if I am exercising a lot and eating plenty of protein and veg.

Does anyone else seem to consistently struggle with weight loss after a certain point? Sad to say I am an archetypal yo-yo dieter. I really enjoy the process for a certain period, lose around 2 stone, and then something seems to happen that makes it seem impossible to keep restricting.

I don't know if it's something physiological, or if it's just that my social calendar means that every few weeks there is a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary etc that threatens to send me off the wagon.

I really want to continue this time. I don't want to put the weight back on again and end up even heavier than before. I don't know if I believe in set point theory but if a few weeks of maintenance every 20lbs or so is what it takes to finally get back to a healthy weight, then that is what I'll have to do.

recklessgran · 14/11/2023 09:17

@jeomeollibyeoldul thanks for the welcome back - it was a great holiday - all inclusive - I don't need to say anymore do I? We're going back again at the end of February by which time I really want to be 2 stone lighter. That's my goal anyway. I know it should be doable if only I could behave myself and stop the self sabotaging emotional eating! Wonder if I need therapy for that?
@beeswaxinc I'm in this for the [very] long haul too. I have also lost significant weight before but put it all back on plus more. I accept this is going to be a meander rather than a race. With that in mind, at DH's suggestion, it's alright for him as he's skinny as a rake and eats anything he wants I'm going to allow myself one treat meal a week where I eat and drink whatever I like. I'm hoping that will help me keep on track and I can use this "treat meal" for social occassions to stop me falling off the wagon completely. I'll let you all know if the plan works but I'm hoping mentally dangling this carrot will keep me on track.
I wasn't great yesterday - I ate 3 biscuits and a packet of wotsits by way of snacks which of course I shouldn't have done but otherwise a tuna salad for lunch and chilli with small amount of rice for dinner. I need to meal plan, shop and stop snacks altogether. That's the plan for today anyway.

RedDoughnut · 15/11/2023 07:08

I noticed this morning how much bigger my dressing gown is.

I'm at the stage now where I think weight loss is noticeable and I'm torn between wanting people to say something but at the same time not wanting to draw attention to myself.

I work from home so most people don't see me and when I'm out now I have my big coat on.

Hope everyone has a good day.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 15/11/2023 13:59

hey everyone. hope you are all doing well. @RedDoughnut good thing the bigger dressing gowns are the cosier they are! i bet tons of people have noticed and are just too polite to say 😆people tend to say i "look healthy" which i think is a euphemism for "omg youve lost weight" but im glad haha as i am trying to lose!
have been on plan today but not for the best reasons tbh, am busy and have some important stuff going on thats making me nervous/anxious and reducing my appetite. dont fancy making anything big for dinner, will have something small. need to do food shopping again and omg everything still seems to cost so much

Bananas1350 · 16/11/2023 06:41

Another pound down.

sw - 13.1
cw - 11.7
gw- either 9stone or just below.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 16/11/2023 20:52

hi everyone....hope you are all doing well and just a quick check in today, as have been totally off plan
received bad news, nothing TRULY terrible but enough to knock me and just wasnt up to cooking etc today.
tomorrow is another day.

PurpleSky09 · 16/11/2023 21:32

Just checking in to record that I've lost almost 2lbs this week 🥳 5lbs to go to reach my target. Hoping I'll manage that in time for Christmas.

Keep going all!

Bananas1350 · 17/11/2023 06:13

@PurpleSky09 well done!!! I won’t reach two stone from when this thread started. But I will reach loosing two stone overall bu Xmas fingers crossed.

RedDoughnut · 17/11/2023 07:35

I won't make 2 stones unless I get a lot stricter with myself.

I rewarded myself yesterday after having a few good days.
1 x packet of crisps
1 x 2 finger Kit Kat
1 x 1 finger Twix
1 x Recces Peanut Butter Cup

Stupid really.

OP posts:
recklessgran · 17/11/2023 14:04

@RedDoughnut your post made me smile - I think you're doing amazing and looking after us lot too! If it's any consolation I'm unlikely to make one stone by Christmas let alone two. I only have myself to blame - I've been shocking this week, behaving for most of the day then having treats etc, I need to give myself a talking to and get my head back in the game. I've wasted a whole month now

shearwater · 17/11/2023 14:06

Still -1st 1lbs, but it's better than nothing!

I never normally lose weight at this time of year so anything is a bonus.

I'm pleased with this. Despite my blip last week I had a good week.

I can't wait to get to the 14s. It will feel like a real breakthrough as I haven't been 14 stone something in years, possibly decades.

I hope everyone else is ok and can post some good results.
I'm pleased the thread has stayed the course. Hopefully we can carry on after Christmas ( those of us that need to) and have some sort of Spring goal or challenge.

Your starting weight is the same as mine so your progress is really encouraging. I started a week ago and have lost 3 pounds this week despite hardly getting any exercise .

Bananas1350 · 20/11/2023 08:07

@Wolfathedoor ah. It’s hard. But just keep going. I have not cheated once. When I get to 11.1 I will have lost two pounds. And my aim is to be in the 10’s for the start of next year. I won’t give up. Just keep going.

chalkyc2 · 20/11/2023 08:10

Another 1.2 kg off this week. Upping the exercise. Well done to those losing more than 2lb a week that's good going!!

SW for the thread 21/9 - 14.5/91.2kg
CW 13.0/82.4kg

9 week loss therefore 1.5

Target - 10.3/65kg (not before Xmas!)

5 weeks and counting!

recklessgran · 20/11/2023 08:36

Morning all this weigh day Monday.
Start weight 15st
Last week 14 st 10.75lbs
Today 14ST 8.5lbs
That's 2.25lbs off for me this week - I think I could have done better but at least the loss is downwards so I'll take that as a victory.
@RedDoughnut I'll definitely e here after Christmas and more most of next year at the rate I'm going!
@Wolfathedoor we went to The Bull Costa Canaria in San Agustin. It's perfect for a fly & flop but probably not for everyone as it's quite isolated although there is a lovely beachside promenade that you can walk along. We go there twice every winter for a rest [unfortunately we have an especially stressful life with lots of caring duties, plate spinning and juggling which I won't go into here] . Great hotel, adults only with a Spa and heated outdoor pool [I'm a wus] the all inclusive is brilliant and the food good, Cava at breakfast, decent bottles of wine given freely at dinner [Rioja in our case] great food cooked to order at the pool bar at lunchtime, lovely grounds but an older demographic and mainly German clientele which doesn't bother us at all. Entertainment every night some of which is really good. Best bit of all is you choose your own sunbeds on arrival, attach provided name tag and they're yours for the entire holiday - none of that ridiculous sunbed dash early in the morning. We always had a policy of never going back to the same place twice but we just haven't been able to improve on this hence why we keep returning.
