2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Hey all am a bit late to this and know I won't lose 2st by xmas. Contacted doctors today as my weight gain shot up since stopping mini pill 3 months ago and am so upset to be 17.6 stone at 5foot9, particularly got big around middle. This has happened despite starting to calorie count, cut certain foods and get back on my exercise bike

Catsknowbest · 09/11/2023 18:38

Wow you have done amazing

RedDoughnut · 09/11/2023 19:04

@Catsknowbest you could easily lose one stone though!

OP posts:
Catsknowbest · 09/11/2023 19:10

Yes that's what I'm hoping 👍

RedDoughnut · 09/11/2023 19:12

@Catsknowbest if you have looked at any of my posts I was over 18 stones in the summer, so it can be done! Welcome to the thread!

@Catsknowbest welcome and good luck!
another fairly nondescript day here of being on plan and a bit bored with it...
need to do shopping again today
think i will get some steaks, need something more interesting to eat 😆
so glad its almost friday...

Catsknowbest · 09/11/2023 20:24

Definitely inspired me! Thanks 😊 am getting married in May too and so don't want a dress in current size

ILikeItHere · 09/11/2023 20:40

Hello, no news today. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since I started! It is a slow paced journey... I skipped dinner today to finally see something, we shall see. Drinking lovely christmas tea, would be yummy with milk and sugar but oh well.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 09/11/2023 20:56

@ILikeItHere i love christmas tea! i would never give up milk as i need the dairy and calcium, i dont get much else of it, 😆love drinking tea though its good for you, delicious comforting and almost no calories...

@Catsknowbest ooh congratulations on your wedding!

ChickenChipsandBeans · 10/11/2023 07:59

Hi everyone. Not my official weigh in day, but I weigh myself everyday so I can see the fluctuations and today I hit my target of a stone loss!!! I can't tell you how happy I am. I didn't really believe that I would lose anything when I started six weeks ago if I'm completely honest. So many times I start trying to lose weight and it just doesn't happen, I fall off the wagon, get demoralised, eat badly and feel even worse... so the fact that other than the wine lapses, I have eaten healthily every single day and done a 20 minute hiit followed by a 5km walk 5 days a week without fail for the last six weeks. I feel so much better, I'm fitter and have really toned up. Still a long way to go until I reach my ideal weight but this is such a good start. I fly to the U.K on Tuesday and I can't wait to see my family, see all the Christmas loveliness (I live in a Muslim country that doesn't celebrate Christmas) and treat myself to some new clothes. My goal for my time there is to enjoy myself, but not go mad. Cherry bakewells, ginger biscuits, mince pies and every other lovely treat that I only get once a year are calling me....

Well done everyone, we are doing so well. Let's keep going xx

SW 82.2KG
CW 75.5KG

ILikeItHere · 10/11/2023 10:00

@ChickenChipsandBeans congratulations! A stone is a great milestone and you've done so well in only 6 weeks! It is such a nice feeling when you see things moving in the right direction, your body changing and all those beautiful clothes calling us! 😄
@jeomeollibyeoldul I did not give up dairy completely but significantly reduced. I will reintroduce once on my target weight. It is a sacrifice to drink black coffee but I was surprised to discover how calorific whole milk was and I do not enjoy skimmed or even semi. So all or nothing for me!
Did my weigh in today, skipping dinner last night paid off, 1 lb less making it a bit over 2 lbs / 1 kg this week. That is almost 4 kg less overall, cannot see any changes in my shape yet though. Anyway, I am happy enough and will keep on plodding. Good luck everyone, weekend ahead.

Boyboyboy10 · 10/11/2023 10:01

huge well done to all the losers. I have stayed the same, for about the 4th week in a row, I am pleased at that as I have snacked on crap but I am cross at myself as I could have lost if I didn't snack on crap. I weigh every day but use Friday as my official weigh in day, if that makes sense. I reset every Friday and plan to have a better week next week. I never do. Next week HAS to be the week I change that. I could see 11 stones on the scales this time next week if I really tried. But my will power is weak, so very very weak. I WAH everyday and we have snacks for the DC. I am surrounded by snacks and bread and treats every single day. Trying to stay focused on the goal. I am currently trying everything in my will power to resist having a bread roll. Once I start on the snack wagon, I often don't stop. If I don't start, then it's easier. Throwing myself into work today to try to resist.

Off to a party tonight. I need to resist the crisps/snacks. I love crisps/savouries with a glass of wine. Drinking gives me the munchies. The host won't touch the crisps/snacks, I have observed her before and noticed that she never touches anything that's put out as a snack. Whereas I am usually trying to eat anything and everything. I will try to follow her example tonight. Wish me luck !

beeswaxinc · 10/11/2023 12:07

Welcome @Catsknowbest a goal of a stone sounds great, good luck!

Well done @sushinelove, @ChickenChipsandBeans for those milestones and here's to your next lb coming off so you're in 14 st something!

I am not expecting any losses this week annoyingly, as I did eat a fair bit over maintenance on Tuesday, but am so happy to be back on plan. Upping exercise for me goes hand in hand with getting my appetite in control for some reason. When I'm not being very active I think about food all day.

I've been having these lovely veggie omelettes in the morning with loads of veg and that Eat Lean grated cheese. They're definitely hitting the spot. I need to remember how much better I immediately feel when eating healthy and being active, even without considering weight loss.

I wonder if I will make 2 stone by Xmas at this point, but 18lbs down already feels so much better than waiting til the new year to "start again"!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 10/11/2023 21:56

hey everyone hope youve all had a good day.
i wont lie, i havent exactly been on plan today, but its been my first period day and ive been feeling really sick. have done some comfort eating as a result...
okay with it though as ive been fine for rest of the week and theres not that much junk in the house.
will try again tomorrow.

RedDoughnut · 11/11/2023 13:19

How is everyone on the thread?

Just over 6 weeks to go!

I'm out to eat tonight but have been ok for the last few days. I'm hoping I can still get one more stone off.

Suma2021 · 11/11/2023 13:43

@Boyboyboy10 I found that having a really substantial and balanced meal before heading out staves off my munchies (in the same way that going food shopping when I'm full means I buy way less munchy food)! But drinks give me the munchies too. If I have one crisp, I'll have lots. I do better avoiding altogether. It's annoying, you don't want to "deprive" yourself but I would totally finish a bowl of crisps if I started nibbling.

It's been a bit messy this week; I ate loads of chocolate and nougat a few days ago on top of loads of other food, then the following day trying to claw it back and stick to healthy foods - but then end up falling off the wagon again. That's been the general trend all week so I'll be surprised if there is any loss on the scales on Monday. I am just trying not to obsess in an unhealthy way. It's done now. Focusing on nice Autumnal walks with my husband and son. Gardening jobs and lots of fresh air (not letting myself go entirely and vegging out in front of the TV all day with snacks and takeaway).......

Bananas1350 · 11/11/2023 14:19

@RedDoughnut doing really well. Have lost over a stone and a half since I started in September. Does help I cannot cheat because of gallbladder problems. But keeping on going. Hoping to be near the bottom of 11 stone by Xmas. Then hoping for a ten on the scales at new year. Xmas will not be about food this year.

ILikeItHere · 12/11/2023 17:26

Hi, what a quiet Sunday in here! I had a nice surprise this morning, lost half a pound. That was after going off plan and having KFC twister meal yesterday! Today had a lie in and skipped bfast. Greek salad for lunch. Then lovely harissa meatballs from Fast800 recipes. Some coleslaw. Not sure I will be eating any more tonight, feeling pretty full.
I cannot stop shopping for clothes, trying to buy slightly smaller than my current size to give me motivation.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 12/11/2023 17:52

hello everyone! have been on plan today and omg am so full. had steak for dinner. hopefully no snacks tonight, late night snacks tend to be my downfall. i get peckish in the evenings. but im doing well, so i want to keep sticking at it. everyone keep chugging! not too much longer now until we'll all be weighing in and seeing how we did...

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 13/11/2023 08:56

Morning all! Was slightly worried about today's weigh in after a couple of late night cheese and cracker sessions. Although I managed to get away with it I do need a reset today - there's only so much of that nonsense my hips can take.

SW 14st 1
Loss this week - 1lb
CW 13st 8

So the good bits - that's my first half-stone, and I'm on target for my original (if slow and modest) goal of 10lb by Christmas. BMI down to 28.1. And I'm less bloated.

Bad bit - I can't tell! I don't look slimmer, things don't fit more easily. Hopefully the next half stone will bring some more noticeable benefits.

RedDoughnut · 13/11/2023 09:59

Results After 8 weeks

Red Doughnut

Starting Weight 16 7lbs
Current Weight 15 9lbs

Total Loss. 12lbs.

It really should be 16lbs after 8 weeks but being ill didn't help me. I need to tighten up this week and try to get 3lbs off as a minimum to catch up

Well done to those who have dropped and commiseration's to those who haven't.

This whole experience has been very interesting for me. I've never dieted before hence the reason behind my current weight. I've been tracking what I've eaten and calorie counting since June. In that time I've lost 9kgs. And that's great. I do know why I haven't lost more. It hasn't been snacking, I've cut down on alcohol (none at home), eaten less when out. But I haven't exercised, eaten enough protein and I haven't drunk enough water. My diary shows that times when I've done more exercise and/ drunk more water and eaten more protein I've made better progress. Pretty sure I'm the only person who doesn't know this stuff.

I've never looked at my body (because I hate the sight of it) but Ive been talking more note of it and everything else and I'm making progress. I know what I need to do. Just need to do it now. It's been like a series of light bulb moments.
