2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 02/11/2023 09:59

@RedDoughnut yes i did! :D i still wasnt feeling 100% but woke up this morning feeling a lot better and i think it was partially because i made sure to eat healthily. will be trying to do more of the same and cooking today.
sorry to hear about your plateau! weight loss actually requires a ton of patience and it can get so tedious. i hope the scales move again for you shortly.

beeswaxinc · 02/11/2023 10:55

Welcome to the new joiners, keep going everyone. Not sure if it's the half term, Halloween and all its treats, the clocks going back or the bad weather but I'm also struggling a bit.

Didn't manage to stay on plan on Halloween in the end as we ordered pizza and I had a few mini treats, but it was still nothing on what I would usually eat on Halloween!

Yesterday I managed to stay under maintenance but still not a good deficit. Was starting to worry and doubt myself a bit but my partner is my cheer leader and when I came home he was so encouraging and it reminded me how much I want to do this and I believe that I can do it this time.

@niairin I can really relate to your post especially the part where you said eating healthily is easy for your but not bingeing is hard. I am the same, I love healthy food and veg, I know some people who cannot stand fruit and veg but that has never been my issue. It's avoiding "treat" food and overeating tasty food which is my issue.

Today I'm eating a little earlier to account for the clocks going back and am having a big salad and pot of Skyr. Feels good to be getting back on track 🤗

RedDoughnut · 02/11/2023 11:08

Are ready meals the answer?
Everything calorie counted, no weighing and measuring.

@jeomeollibyeoldul is right. Weight loss can be tedious. It's taking my brain power than I have to spare on some days!

Of course not thinking about what I was eating to me into this mess.

@beeswaxinc and @niairin

I agree! As a family we eating pretty well, lots of fruit and veg and homemade meals. We are vegetarian and I don't drink alcohol so can't increase fruit and veg or give up drinking to help me

But I think it's the extras, large portions and things like tons of cheese on pasta, big helping of garlic bread.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned that my friends DC saw my Muller diet chocolate pudding and said ' mummy eats those'
And I wondered why as mum is thin and fit. It dawned on me she's probably thin as she would chose the low calorie option whereas I'd buy a pot of Gu dessert at a million calories.

Diet food is not just for fat people. A bit of a revelation to me

Hello! My period arrived today and scales did not move of course. Hoping for a nice drop next week.
Been pretty good yesterday and so far today. Eating out first time since I started! Morrocan salad with falafel for dinner tonight. Cannot wait.
With regards to diet food I would stay away and focus on whole foods. But then who am I to say that drinking SF shakes twice a day 😁. I guess whatever works.

beeswaxinc · 02/11/2023 18:19

@ILikeItHere I had that too recently, keep powering on if you can!

Just wanted to post again to celebrate, I've been on plan today diet wise, and feeling full and satisfied. Chicken and protein cheese salad, Skyr, prawn linguine for dinner.

I didn't get in the amount of exercise I would like due to the whether and starting back at work today but I will try and do better tomorrow.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 02/11/2023 19:31

hey everyone, glad to hear some are doing better...including me... with regards to the diet chocolate pots, i dont knock them at all! they give you a bit of what you fancy without overindulging and make it easy to naturally stay in a calorie range when theyre 100 cals and under. i used to eat them all the time even when i wasnt thinking about my food, and was naturally quite slim...

im really happy with how today has gone, and feeling WAY better which i think is down to getting back on the straight and narrow the past 2 days. its really shocking how one day of overeating really knocked me! ...that all being said, ive got birthday cakes coming in tomorrow and birthday chocos for me so im not sure ill be welcome on this thread for the next 48 hours. 😆

ChickenChipsandBeans · 03/11/2023 07:42

@houseRefurb hi and welcome. I'm 43, but other than that we are very similar. I started during the last week of September at 82.2 kg. Was in denial about how much weight I had put on, but enough was enough! I live abroad and have a trip to the UK mid November. My goal was to lose a stone by the time I fly. Honestly, I didn't really believe I would lose anything near to it, but I am now just 1.3lbs away from that stone with 12 days to go. You can do it. This thread really helps and I've also been keeping a daily journal. Not something I usually do, but I have been surprised by how motivating it is to reread my entries and be able to see the weight loss, even if just a 100g. I'm so pleased that I have stuck with it, but I still have a long way to go....Good luck and keep checking in xx

ILikeItHere · 03/11/2023 09:24

Good morning everyone! Still plodding through, no changes here. Being good with no results is tough. I will be really disappointed if no drop after a couple of days.
Today I am swapping one of my shakes for a bowl of pumpkin soup. Finishing my couscous salad for dinner.
Keep on going, we can do it!

niairin · 03/11/2023 09:25

Morning, I'm going to post daily if that's not against the rules, I am weighing myself daily to try and not get carried away with the fluctuations. Yesterday I had a reasonably good day, although I met someone for coffee and had a cappuccino and a slice of cake. I'm not worrying because I know it's not the odd slice of cake that made me put the weight on, but the unhealthy binges in front of the TV. Other than that, I stuck to all my meals and goals. Weighed myself this morning and lost half a pound, which obviously doesn't mean anything but it's still motivating.

@houseRefurb great to hear your successes, like you I think reflecting daily is probably what I need.

Boyboyboy10 · 03/11/2023 15:39

I've had yet another week of letting myself down. I am so cross, angry and upset with myself. Xmas day is now only 7 weeks away on Monday. I HAVE to reach goal of 1 stone off. I cannot tell you how elated I would be with that. I would then be 11 stone and I have not seen that in YEARS. My problem is WAH every day. My employers gave up the office several years ago .. BUT they have just confirmed use of an office as from Monday next week if staff want to use it. I'm thinking I need to book a desk for every day, as it will stop me from being any where near food (I would have to go out to buy food at the office). Hmm ...

Well done to all the losers - keep going everyone !

Good morning! I am so annoyed to be stuck with the same weight for so many days. It feels like my period will never end.😁
Was a bit hungry last night and had a snack of babybel.
Keeping fingers crossed for everyone!

Upwiththelark76 · 04/11/2023 11:22

I’m in! My motivation is high because in two weeks of not having a drink I have dropped 5lbs . And literally all I’ve done is cut the alcohol . I have been drinking way too much for way too long. 15stone 2 right now . Aiming for at least a stone by Christmas

niairin · 04/11/2023 15:05

Had a mixed day yesterday. I went down the country on my own for the weekend. Time on my own and car journeys are always big risk factors for me. I had a handful (6) chocolate digestives in the car, and a burger and chips for dinner, as well as a big bowl of granola that night. Not exactly healthy, but on the other hand, I did a supermarket shop for my weekend away and didn't buy any binge foods at all.

Limited as to what I can eat here, but so far I had brown bread and eggs for breakfast and brown bread and beans for lunch.

So it's not my planned food, but I have to remember my biggest objective is to stop the huge binges, and spending a weekend on my own without totally going out of control will be a good achievement for me if I manage it.

I'm going to take my own advice - and give it! - and focus only on my next meal, not slip ups from previously.

Crikeyalmighty · 04/11/2023 16:17

@RedDoughnut I find ready meals certainly can help by using them 2 or 3 nights a week- I only eat M&S ones of 450 Cals or less and adds side of broccoli or carrots or green beans or salad

ILikeItHere · 05/11/2023 10:55

Hello on Sunday! Yesterday did not go to plan, I had chicken wrap in food court. Got hungry when shopping. Only ate half though.
100g less today. It is a tortoise pace the last couple of days.
I find it hard to be around bread these days! Hope everyone else is doing fine.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 05/11/2023 14:07

hi everyone! have definitely been off plan as it has been my birthday but i was prevented from seriously overindulging because whenever i eat sweet things now i tend to feel very sick and it lasts for ages! i think the caffeine in the chocolates didnt agree with me either. has made it easier to saying no to the last one or two...i will save them and eat them at a reasonable pace... meanwhile will need to cook again and order shopping again soon as there is a lack of fresh food in the house...
saw people for my birthday and they said i was looking healthier and slimmer! very pleased
motivated again after that and reading about everybody elses efforts
in the past birthdays would trigger month long periods of eating everything in sight...
@Upwiththelark76 brilliant results from cutting alcohol...

beeswaxinc · 05/11/2023 15:43

Hi everyone, so lovely to hear of all the success and the determination in the face of challenges, you are all keeping me going.

I weighed in today and am now 19st 3 which is a total of 18lbs since starting in late September. I am pleased as I had been stuck at 19st 6 for a while.

I need to up my activity as I am choosing to eat a higher number of calories in order for it to be sustainable!

@jeomeollibyeoldul I totally get what you mean about sweet food making you feel sick now, if I eat a really processed snack on its own like crisps or something, I can really feel the effects of how awful it makes me feel. It definitely helps unhealthy food lose its sparkle!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 06/11/2023 07:40

Morning all.
The scale continues to inch in the right direction:
SW 14st1

So another pound off this week.10lb off by Christmas, while a very modest goal that I'm sure lots of you have raced past, still feels doable. Here's to a good week!

Boyboyboy10 · 06/11/2023 08:54

7 weeks today until Christmas. I'm trying a new method this week - no crap, junk, snacks etc and no weighing in until Friday. I usually weigh every day. Couple of 5ks this week then weigh in Friday morning

Boyboyboy10 · 06/11/2023 08:59

I've been binge eating last week. It's going to be very hard this week to be strict. DH is currently making a fry up which I have turned down. That was hard. It smells fantastic
