2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Congratulations on the losses!

I agree, got to find something sustainable especially those of us with a fair bit to lose. Otherwise the weight will come back on too!

I'm really pleased that I seem to be successfully incorporating some treats in this time. I've genuinely come to the conclusion before that I am an "abstainer" and not a "moderator" and simply can't cope with controlling my intake of sweet things, but have been okay. I have been purposely avoiding my typical binge foods and have replaced them with whole food versions of sweet snacks (think mascarpone cheese, honey and cocoa powder with a pinch of salt instead of a bar of galaxy!)

Not eating much below 2,000 cals at the moment and upping my walking and general movement but haven't commenced my strength training yet which I'm really keen on. Been at this for around a month now so if the scales aren't showing a steady loss after my period then that will give me the kick up the bum I need to get going I hope.

sushinelove · 24/10/2023 12:40

Official weigh day today and now sitting at 15st 1.5lb. Total loss so far is 1 st 0.5lb. Going to try and up my walking this week and hope to see 14 something soon.

ILikeItHere · 24/10/2023 18:39

So today I had two shakes and small dinner. Managed without snacks which I am very happy about. My fluid intake is still not where it should be but working on it. As a treat I'll have a piece of dark chocolate.
I spent some time on Fast 800 website. There is a lot of low carb recipes available without signing up if anyone is interested. I will try their omelette tomorrow. Crustless quiche looks good too.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 25/10/2023 12:48

good morning everyone! will have to have a light dinner today as my lunch was quite calorific. feeling optimistic though, i think ill go for a jacket potato which is easy to cook and im craving one atm. still plodding along and waiting for my birthday...i think i read a post from someone here earlier about their birthday where they indulged but didnt go overboard, thats definitely what im planning! i used to be so good at it, until things went haywire this year. feel so much better now im not eating multiple sweet treats a day

Bananas1350 · 25/10/2023 13:00

Anyone think they can still do two stone by Xmas ? I’m thinking I will be a stone and a half ish. I think I would have to cut my calories down a lot to get to two stone. But will be happy just to get to the bottom end of 11 stone. Maybe 11st 3. At a push.

@Bananas1350 I will be more than happy with 1 stone off by xmas. I have lost my way the last week, I'm currently very down and depressed due to other pressures. Desperately trying it pull myself out of it. One of the side effects of this for me is overeating and drinking. I am trying my best to beat this but am struggling

jeomeollibyeoldul · 25/10/2023 14:08

ill be more than happy with 1 stone off by christmas! 2 stone is an ambitious goal and im trying to do the best i can, but its a bit aiming for the moon and being okay if i land among the stars. if its less than 1 stone off by christmas i might have to have a bit of a word with myself (as i started in august) but 1stone+ ill be delighted.

RedDoughnut · 25/10/2023 17:00

Still on holiday and I'm wondering what I weigh?
I've been a daily weigher so it's very odd having no clue.
I'm also not able to make perfect food choices this week
And without my diary I miss seeing my progress
I think we have about 8 weeks to Christmas?
I still want to see my 2 stones!!! It's looking tricky but not impossible unless I've put weight on this week?
I'll update on Monday!

Yes, I definitely still want to lose my 2 st if not by Christmas then New Year!
I have not weighed myself this morning.
Oh and managed to visit the loo the other day 😀.
Had my 2 shakes with almond milk. Black coffee, where I normally drink lattes. It is an acquired taste I guess.
No snacking if we do not count 2 bites (ok maybe 3) of pita with cheese left behind by my kids.
Lasted till dinner that I ate way too quickly as was in a rush to drive them to their classes. No carbs as such.
When I come back home I will reward myself with my piece of chocolate.
I feel really full after dinner, think my stomach shrunk a bit already.

Blue0987 · 25/10/2023 18:42

Joining. I am late but I would be happy with one stone.
I just need to stop snacking especially sweet food.

beeswaxinc · 25/10/2023 20:47

So I don't usually weigh on a Wednesday but am doing okay, starting to creep below the 19st 7lb mark.

A lot of water weight came off in the beginning which was nice at first, but now I'm seeing a bit of plateau on the scale as real fat loss catches up. While I can rationalise it, it's a bit disheartening!

I am feeling a hell of a lot better though.

As I was over 20st 7lbs in September that is already a stone lost with 9 weeks or so to go. I am hoping that is enough time, if I keep at it, to lose another stone. I need to keep that goal in mind to keep me motivated!

Blue0987 · 25/10/2023 21:02

how is everyone managing 900 calories?? It is so difficult

Bananas1350 · 26/10/2023 06:05

@Blue0987 I have a bad gallbladder. And I can only eat foods as low as 3% fat per 100g. My food mostly consists of fruit veg and meat. I could and can do 900 calories alot. Fill urself up on veg very very easily. And not be hungry after for hours. Since I stopped eating sugar foods and processed foods I don’t get hungry anymore.

Bananas1350 · 26/10/2023 06:24

Good weigh in today. Lost two pounds ( I weigh everyday but Thursday is my official weigh in day )

sw - 13.1
cw - 11.11
tw - 8.8

I find it easier when I reduce carbs and increase protein / fat. It is tricky to stay in that limit, especially if you are not very familiar with kcal load of things. I literally check all the packaging on this diet and keep being surprised. No wonder I put on so much, was not aware of how high kcal some foods are. Today I checked the burgers and buns we are having tomorrow for dinner. I will have to skip the bun which normally I'd have without thinking!
Well done to the losers! My scales do not budge yet.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 26/10/2023 22:41

hi everyone, just popping in before bed! had a good day today with everything on track, and the same yesterday. so im feeling pretty good. we got steaks in our shopping this week so i will be cooking them tomorrow once done with work, and we will have them with salad.
staying steady at around ~1500kcals a day here.

ILikeItHere · 27/10/2023 10:28

Today is a week since I started. Almost 2 kg less which is around 4 lbs. I have a 4 days long weekend so need to be strong and do not cave in! Find it easier when busy with work. Drinking my black coffee and then strawberry shake.
How are you all doing, it is a little quiet here.

Blue0987 · 27/10/2023 11:09

how did you do it? What did you eat to lose 2kg in 7 days?

Suma2021 · 27/10/2023 12:37

Hi everyone.
I was 2lbs heavier on Monday (after a weekend of indulgence having guests stay, probably causing bloat / water retention). Since then I felt out of control all of a sudden. Intense cravings for bowls of cereal, and takeaways. I realised, maybe this is linked to all the processed food, alcohol and carbs I've consumed. I had to try really hard to snap out of it. What worked was just "resetting" by sticking to whole, nourishing foods. After a day or two of that, I feel normal again, but it really has reminded me to try to steer clear of that stuff as it just seems to trigger me.

Anyway since that bump in the road I've found my positivity again and trying to keep my head in the game. Focusing on eating as much home made as possible helps.

Currently trying to embrace Autumn and cooking warming meals like roasted butternut squash, pumpkin soup and an oven baked apple with cinnamon. Slow cooked jacket potato and tuna. Not always low calorie and low carb, but healthier and much more satisfying than the frozen pizzas I ate at the weekend....

beeswaxinc · 27/10/2023 13:02

Congratulations again on the continuing losses everyone 💪

@Blue0987 Weight can come off quite quickly when you first start dieting and you rapidly overhaul what you eat.

It doesn't always mean it is 100% fat lost but it should catch up to a real loss if that makes sense. For example, in my first 2 weeks I went down by 1 stone. However, 4 weeks in I'm only lost a couple more lbs than that, so it has evened out over time.

Realistically I didn't lose 7lbs a week for 2 weeks, some of that will be water weight etc.

Some people manage a low calorie deficit by following a meal replacement or partial meal replacement plan, or just by eating low energy density foods.

There's a pretty cool website called Eat This Much - I personally don't use it as I'm starting from a really high weight so am eating way more than 900 cals! But you can put your calorie target in and it comes up with a little plan -

Well this is no doubt old news to everyone else, but to me it was a revelation.

I've been keeping a food diary and I write everything down and calorie count to the best of my ability. Given I haven't lost any weight for the last week although I've been under 1500 calories daily (I've got a lot of weight to lose so this is a very reasonable amount for me). In despair today as I noted down today's weight I started looking back through what I'd been eating. Yep I'd been eating carbs, even though I was counting them but not enough protein or fruit and veg. Makes perfect sense but I hadn't realised this before. I feel like a complete numpty.
Anyway new shopping list and meal planning underway. Let's see what happens. Wish me luck.

beeswaxinc · 27/10/2023 13:08

@Suma2021 You've done amazingly to get back on track, I also have those types of relapses when eating too much processed food and tbh I often don't get back on track Sad

You are so right though that if you can power through those initial days of cravings it does reset, just so hard isn't it!

I've been thinking of creating calendar reminder to prompt me to check I am still actively losing weight as I have not made it past around the 2 stone mark in the past.

Blue0987 · 27/10/2023 11:09

how did you do it? What did you eat to lose 2kg in 7 days?

I lost most of it in the first two days believe it or not. 2 SF shakes a day with almond milk as lot less kcal than dairy. That covered bfast and lunch. Small dinner with next to no carbs. Completely cut out whole dairy milk I normally have with my 2 lattes in the mornings which on its own were probably around 200 kcal. If snacking between meals, I tried not to eat any sugars / carbs, so prepared high protein / fat nibbles in advance. Checking all packaging info for kcals and weighing portions as it turned out I used to eat way too much even healthy snacks, like nuts, before diet. No fruit at this stage to avoid extra sugars, I plan to eat them in moderation after I reach my target.
The only exception is my evening reward if I've been good all day, which is small piece of dark chocolate.
No starchy vegetables, pasta, bread, cereals, fast food. Mainly high protein and good fat foods plus vegetables for volume and fibre.
I only drink black coffee, herbal teas and ginger water. I do not like cold water at this time of year so all my drinks are hot.
I also have linseed for additional fibre to keep things moving.

Littlegoth · 27/10/2023 13:49

Forgot to weigh in on Monday -

start weight: 92.35 kg (14.54 stone)
Christmas target weight: 79.37 (12.5 stone)
End goal: 57kg (9 stone)

current weight:88.85kg - which puts me JUST in the 13s (13.991 stone).

I will be happy if I lose a stone by Christmas and I’m half way there now. I would really like to be down to 83.3kg because the last time I weighed that was Christmas 2015 - I have some lovely clothes from around then that I’ll be thrilled if I’m back in by Christmas.

I can see a difference from my half stone loss. My size 18 tops fit really nicely now. It’s my birthday next week and I might not wear the same sparkly blue top I’ve worn to every special occasion in the last 4 years, because I was quite happy with the way I looked in the mirror when trying on my next size down bag.

Good luck for the rest of the week x
