2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

i always go for fruit, nuts, yoghurt, cheese, seeds, crunchy veggies for my healthy snacks!

its so late already...will sleep soon, but thought id check in first. great to hear from those who are going well. i havent been exactly on plan today but i did cook and didnt massively overdo it which im considering a win. back to the regularly scheduled programming tomorrow and will try to fit some walking in on a miserable monday... goodnight all 😴

Anothagoatthis · 23/10/2023 06:59

on Saturday the fit day app which is connected to my scales said - “you’re 2kg heavier than last weigh in, is this you? Would you like to claim this weight?” I was tempted to say nah I don’t claim this 😂 but it is what it is - I’ve had to cut back on exercise for the past weeks so I guess the effects are now showing on the scale.

I weigh myself every other day but I just open the app to record it every so often so I guess last time I’d recorded my weight on the app I was 6 pounds lighter .

I did rein it in over the weekend as a result and walked 25 minutes each day - can’t manage much more atm due to still not being a 100% after a virus.

my weights been bouncing up and down around the 11stone make for months so I’m really hope to make it to 10stone 3/65Kg for Christmas. It is a bit harder since I can’t exercise much right now and I’m restricted to only about 1200 calories to be in calorie deficit .

Morning all this weigh day Monday.
Start weight 15st
Last week 14st 5.25lbs
This week 14st 4.75lbs
That's half a ponnd off this week which I am really pleased with considering my terrible week with my mother which I'm pretty sure is about to get worse. I truthfully was expecting a gain after eating toast twice and a ham roll as well as McDonalds [emergency dinner on the hoof ]. The main difference last week is that I didn't snack. In the circumstances I would normally have been chomping my way through mountains of chocolate biscuits and piles of toast and marmite but I ate no biscuits and only ate toast twice and on both occasions stuck to two slices. That is a big win for me. Hopeveverybody else is doing O.K. It's a brand new week so keeping eyes on the prize as @RedDoughnut says!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/10/2023 07:43

well done @recklessgran - all losses count!

I've lost a pound this week.
SW 14st 1
CW 13st 10

I have a VERY challenging week ahead though. I'm off work all week, and I fare far better when I'm not in the same place as my fridge. Plus we have visitors in the back half of the week, and a v-e-r-y extended set of birthday celebrations for one of my DC, which will involve meals out over three days. I will be thrilled just to maintain.

Boyboyboy10 · 23/10/2023 09:16

SW 12.9
weight on Friday 12.1
Weight today 12.4

I did a 7k run on Saturday. I have not stuffed myself stupid all weekend , so how the hell have I put on weight ? It's not muscle gain. So sick of it all now tbh. I'm working my ass off in the gym. This week has to be a huge push to get into the 11 stones bracket.

Feeling very disheartened.

Isthiscorrect · 23/10/2023 09:48

@Boyboyboy10
I absolutely feel your pain. It's the same for me. Although I weigh daily so I know that for 5 days this week I weighed half kg less. Which I feel would be fair based on my eating and exercise this week.
Keep going it will happen. That's what I tell myself.

ILikeItHere · 23/10/2023 10:41

I have just realised how I drank around 200 kcal worth with my morning lattes. I always have 2 with lots of whole milk. Cut them out this morning, only added a tiny bit of milk.
No change on scales today.

Boyboyboy10 · 23/10/2023 10:55

@Isthiscorrect we've got this. We WILL win the battle. This week I am trying to have THE best week EVER in terms of snacks/drink/exercise. Weigh in is on friday. sending you hugs and positive vibes.

ToddlerMumma · 23/10/2023 11:13

Another pound off this week so I'm averaging 1lb a week instead of 2. At least I'm going in the right direction!
5 weeks until Christmas so I could reach a stone off if I really step up and increase to 2lb a week from now, wish me luck!!

We've got this. We will not be downhearted. Hugs to you the slimline you 🤗

jeomeollibyeoldul · 23/10/2023 11:26

good to see everyone weighing in again, sending energy to those with disappointing results and flagging! i have difficult periods myself and trying to 'trust the process'
feeling fairly motivated today, dont have any junk in the house so eating healthily should be pretty easy. will make chicken tonight. onwards and upwards

Bananas1350 · 23/10/2023 11:51

@Boyboyboy10 do u weigh urself everyday. What weight did u weigh last Friday? I weigh everyday and I can put on or lose a pound during each day. U couldn’t put on that much weight in that short amount of time. So I only weigh Ona certain day if I know what I weighed the week before on that day

ACurlyWurlyTail · 23/10/2023 11:53

Its all gone wrong....rugby world cup is getting the blame. However, diner with the girls, celebrating leaving work, start of a week off, the cake I didnt need.

2lbs up this week

oops

Boyboyboy10 · 23/10/2023 12:31

@Bananas1350 yes I weight every day. I feel so very demoralised. Another week of no drinking, eating lovely food and pounding away at the gym. Feel so drained by it all. Just wish it was easier to lose the weight

beeswaxinc · 23/10/2023 12:52

Keep going everyone! We can do this.

I know everyone has different approaches and they all work, but I do tend to agree with the advice, particularly for women, against daily weigh ins. Weight can actually fluctuate a fair bit across days and cycles so a weekly or 2 - weekly weigh in might be better for morale?

I also cycle track (roughly) and keep an eye on symptoms anyway so I am aware that some gains will just be hormonal water retention.

Also, I don't know about anyone else, but weight loss or no weight loss, I am certainly feeling much more energetic and on top of things on a healthier diet with less crap. My life isn't revolving around my next meal or treat and that's also very freeing. I'm enjoying taking action, it's good for my self esteem being more in control, and am taking actual "me time" to exercise which is improving my physical and mental health further.

The benefits aren't just the number on the scale, hold on to that when you are feeling down 🐥

TrialbySourdough · 23/10/2023 15:37

Bananas1350 · 19/10/2023 10:38

@TrialbySourdough i weigh everything. People don’t realise how much things actually are. As an example 100g of new potatoes is actually just three potatoes. People are always shocked when I tell them that.
Even when I have finished this diet next year. I will weigh and check the calories of everything

So true about portion sizes - they are SMALL. I do try to be careful, but I'm not always successful. I find just cutting the carbs out of one meal each day helps - so cheese on pear slices, not a sandwich. Peanut butter on celery or apple slices, not on toast.

I have cut out alcohol completely and not eaten any sweets, not even low-cal ones. If I want a snack, it's fruit or a small handful of nuts.

And no going back for seconds. Ever. I eat a salad or carrot sticks or something at the end of the meal, so I can keep eating if necessary without adding calories.

I haven't weighed myself at all, but at the start of September my Size 18 clothes were tight. Now the size 16s fit ok.

I'd love to be in a size 14 for Christmas. But equally, I'd love to be a size 14 at Easter, and if I am still eating like this by then, I will be massively impressed with myself!

Bananas1350 · 23/10/2023 16:44

I was in food warehouse today. And my husband picked up something ( some meat thing ) it was 145 for one stick of whatever it was. But one stick had 39g of fat in it. 39!!! Now I am low fat becuase of my gallbladder. But blimey 39g. I don’t care what the calories say. That cannot be helping with weight loss eating something like that.

My gallbladder problems have really opened my eyes to a lot of foods and how to read labels properly.

ILikeItHere · 23/10/2023 17:00

It is only day 4 for me and already went above plan devouring some sausage rolls my DD did not eat at school. Cold and not even that appealing... oh well that was bound to happen!
Earlier I was on a trip to Tesco to stock up on healthy snacks and some chicken for my salad.
Anyone having issues with regular bowel movements? Sorry to be so direct but it worries me slightly. Not feeling constipated or bloated but it's been 4 days. I have extra fibre in my plan and thought that would aid things a bit.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 23/10/2023 18:14

@ILikeItHere it probably means you arent eating enough. personally i aim for about 1500-1600kcal a day...seems to keep things moving as they should. 😆

WinterStar1 · 23/10/2023 19:33

After a smaller loss last week I've got a 1.9 kg loss this week. Luckily no temptation put my way this week which helps loads. Halfway to my 2 stone loss for Christmas. Good luck for the coming week everyone.

Current loss - 1.9 kg
Total loss - 6.8 kg
Target loss - 12.7 kg

SecondStarOnTheRight · 23/10/2023 20:03

Happy Monday!

I'm 100 days in overall now and I've finally dropped a dress size. I may have dropped more than one technically as I've lived mostly in stretchy/baggy clothes this last year or so. Maybe I should try like for like clothes.

But in regards to the challenge, I'm almost half way there with two months left to go! Let's do this 😁

SW for this thread: 19st 9lb
CW: 18st 11lb
LTD for challenge: 12lb
Loss to hit target: 16lb

Are you drinking enough water? Sometimes people change the way the way they eat, but also give up sugary or calorific drinks, too, and don't drink enough water to compensate. Dunno if that applies to you, though. Hope it gets sorted!

Goneback2school · 24/10/2023 09:50

Weight check today, down 1.4 kg to 87.2kg. Total loss- 9.2kg

ILikeItHere · 24/10/2023 10:42

Probably not drinking enough but will try my best bit by bit every day. I have upped my kcals last night too. I think I would like to see results so badly I am being too restrictive. Not sustainable over time.
Another day without loss. I guess I should stop checking every morning. But it is so hard!
Well done all the losers!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 24/10/2023 11:52

good morning everyone! i always recommend sustained realistic long term weight loss, i think having a "kickstart" week or 2 when doing a goal like this christmas one can work but eventually you'll need to start eating in a way that you can do time and time again each day.

yesterday was a really good day, didnt overeat or snack etc. cooked a really nice chicken dinner with rice and had the leftovers for breakfast. i think im saving a ton of money now too eating this way! which is great 😊
