2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Can I join please, struggling with any motivation to stick to healthy habits. Think I can get a grip but need to do much more physical movement too. Look forward to company.

My Friday was an unmitigated total food disaster.

I was just so tired of being on a diet. So tired of thinking about food and making decisions instead of just eating what I wanted.

I've been better today. But have events tomorrow and Monday.

It's a bump in the road. I'll get better

@RedDoughnut "I was just so tired of being on a diet"

I hear this loud and clear. It's bloody tedious, isn't it? I am feeling ever so slightly hungry, and ever so slightly deprived most of the time. I know lots of people will be able to fit treats in, but I am cooking "normal" family dinners, and CBA to cook twice, so have to account for that in terms of calorie intake.

I am trying to reframe things a little bit, and remembering that by dieting am I being kind to my body.

In some good news my ankle injury (which was a contributory factor in piling on the pounds) is a bit better, and I'm much less sore after walking, so I've increased my steps a good bit.

RedDoughnut · 08/10/2023 15:41

@PTSDBarbiegirl @sushinelove @TheBushOfYourGarden

All welcome, now 11 weeks to Christmas so that means around one and a half stone loss is possible or more if you have a fair bit to lose.

We are trying to report weight loss on a Monday but as the thread has grown it's harder to keep track of who is doing what.

It's very supportive here!

@recklessgran How are you doing after your blip?

I had a bad day in Friday but I'm better now although not as tightly controlled as I have been. I could make more effort.
Hope you have found things a bit easier

@RedDoughnut I'm still here don't worry! I've been having a think about my strategy. I think 800 calories is tough and the reason that now and again I have these fuck it moments which lead to a bit of a blow out followed by a day or two of more relaxed eating. The problem for me is that increasing calories isn't really an option as even 1200 calories results in a small gain/stay the same because of my under active thyroid & the other meds as I explained before. I can stop my hormone blockers at the end of this month which should help but I'm a bit worried about that. They're the usual drugs you take for 5 years post BC to prevent it coming back but I still can't get my head round stopping them. Logic makes me think that would increase the risk of it coming back again? My doctors say no, 5 years is enough but I'm struggling to believe them ig I'm honest. I guess the underlying anxiety never goes - I really need to pull myself together as I'm so, so lucky to be here! Oh well, the good news is that my annual meeting with the titslammer a couple of weeks ago showed normal [for me] pics. Yippee. Feels like I'm off the hook for another year but even the annual mammagrams stop now. Hmmm. Anyway, enough of my miseries.
Back to diet talk. I'm expecting a gain tomorrow as I've been eating what the hell I want all weekend but trying to be "mindful" so no big binges. Fresh start tomorrow. I have accepted that I'm in this for the long haul and the thing is that no matter how many times you fall off the wagon, it's getting back on that is key. So. I'm back on as from first thing tomorrow with new enthusiasm to get the job done!
Phew!! Sorry for the big essay - it's sometimes good to get your thoughts down on paper. Hope everyone's cracking on and welcome to all the new ones - this is a great place where you'll get lots of ideas and friendly support. Let's do it!

Think you’ve hit the nail on the head @recklessgran . Getting back up every time is what will do it. The only time we’ll fail is the last time we try.

Too late to get to the shops today to meal prep so have made use of a voucher and ordered a delivery. One twix bar included. A far different shopping cart than a few weeks ago when it would have been 8 pack of Coke Zero, 3 sharing bags of sweets or chocolate and at least one full size bag of crisps. I’ve enjoyed socialising with friends this week and don’t feel my usual self hatred/criticism for it. I have really liked the fast 800 during weekdays so am thinking carrying that on Mon-Fri and then relaxing on the weekends might work really well for me, more than doing 1200-1600ish daily. Relaxing, though, not binging. That’ll be the key

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 09/10/2023 07:17

Morning losers. A pound off this week for me. As usual, I was a heading for a 2lb loss until the weekend, but I can't complain.
SW 14st1
CW 13st12
Hope the weigh goes well for everyone.

suneetime · 09/10/2023 07:25

Morning all. I weighed on Friday and had lost a lb. Weighed again this morning and it’s gone back on. Hardly surprising as I had a shocker of a weekend with regard to food and wine. But this thread has made me realise I’m in it for the long haul so I’m straight back on 16.8 today with mostly healthy choices and I’m going to increase my water intake. Going to keep weighing Mon and Fri to try and keep me on track.

CW 13.9

recklessgran · 09/10/2023 07:29

Morning all. As expected after my behaviour of the last 3 days it's a 2lb gain this week for me.
Start weight 15st
Current weight 14st 9lbs
Fresh start today. I'm really not hopeful of getting 9lbs off in the next 4 weeks to make the stone before I go on holiday. Never mind I'll keep my eyes on the prize as I'm in this for the long haul not just for Christmas!
Good luck everyone.

Exactly 11 weeks until Christmas!

I think most of us could manage at least one stone off by then.

I'm still aiming for 2 stones.

So I lost 0.4kg this week. Really disappointed as I started doing the Fast 800, stuck to my calories on the whole other than Saturday when with friends and we had wine and a Chinese...I also did a 20 minute Bodycoach HIIT followed by a minimum 40 minute walk, most days 1 hour, 5 days last week. I was really hoping for a jump start of at least 3lbs....However, I am feeling better and no longer feel like I need a nap after lunch. I really surprised myself by sticking to the calories as I am someone who loves food. I am lucky that the fast 800 is based on the mediterranean diet, which is where I live, so not hard to adapt food wise, just cutting out bread, potatoes and rice. Hopefully a better result next week. Good luck everyone x

Boyboyboy10 · 09/10/2023 08:22

I'm yo-yoing in the bottom of 12stone. I lose 1lb,I gain 1lb. I need 2lbs off this week to get into 11stone bracket. I'm walking loafs- 10miles every saturday- & doing the gym. It's the food for me and the fact I entertain clients for dinner. Had 5 dinners out last week, 3 this week. I try to pick healthy food. Its the snacking which is my downfall. A handful here and there all adds up. I'm having a huge push this week to finally see 11 Stone. The rules are: if its not on my plate I can't eat it, no handfuls of anything as it can't be qualified for cals etc, I'm not even allowed to open the DH & DC snack drawer let alone eat anything in it, if it's not my food I can't have it (Dh & dc snacks), as low carbs as possible.
Good luck everyone for this week

GoodDream · 09/10/2023 08:34

5.5lbs off this week 😱But my weight's been wonky the past couple of weeks, with a undeserved gain last week I thought was definitely cycle-related bloat. So I think I'm probably averaging 2.5lbs-ish a week rather than it all being loss this week! Bodies are weird things.

WI 3:
Challenge starting weight: 11st 9
Current weight: 11st 1.5
Loss: 5.5lbs
Total loss: 7.5lbs

This week is going to be much trickier, as I'm away for a long weekend with family and for me holidays usually mean letting my hair down! But I'm going to try to be sensible, and hoping to come back with a STS rather than a big gain. Good luck this week everyone!

ACurlyWurlyTail · 09/10/2023 08:37

Week 1 (18/09) Start weight 15.4
Weigh in 14.12
Loss this week 1
Total loss 6
Xmas target 14st
Overall target 11st

was heading for 2lb but I found a 12 pack of Warburtons crumpets in the freezer so needed to eat 6 lol

Losingmymind85 · 09/10/2023 09:11

I'm down another 2lb so the scale is at 9st 8. 9st doesn't seem that far away but it's not a"natural" weight for me so I'm cautious about getting too excited.
Starting exercising this week as my diet is now largely under control. I find if I do both at the same time I always fail so changing it up to see if it makes a difference

shearwater · 09/10/2023 09:11

Well done all, particularly @GoodDream
with this week's loss.

I've had a good week, my weigh in is tomorrow am and am hoping for a 2lb loss to get to the stone off mark.

Crikeyalmighty · 09/10/2023 10:25

@RedDoughnut in theory I could possibly hit a stone, in practice I've got 11 days in california coming up from middle of next week, so will be happy with 8lbs down by Xmas

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/10/2023 12:02

@recklessgran 800 Cala seems so little

If you eat less doesn't your body go into starvation mode and doesn't lose weight as burns diff fat/calories

Or am I talking crap

Well done dream on fab weight loss

Suma2021 · 09/10/2023 12:21

Weigh in this morning:

12.5st Mon 9th Oct
12.7st Mon 2nd Oct
-2lb loss week on week.

-4lb loss in total since I started weighing myself on the 25th September.

It's not crazy, but I'm relieved it's still a loss this past week. It's that time of the month so the last week I have been eating like a ravenous beast!!

Boyboyboy10 · 09/10/2023 13:01

@Suma2021 we are virtually the same weight wise. I'm 12.2st, down from 12.9st and 13st at my upmost heaviest (excl. pregnancy). I long to see 10st on the scale.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 09/10/2023 15:13

hello everyone...omg ive had such a tiring day so far...had to go out twice and work is running me off my feet with somebody messaging me what seems like every 5 minutes. just want a nap ! but nevermind. having chicken and rice for dinner today. my eating has been fine today, haven't had time for anything extra. we've exhausted our snack supply so cooked food and apples is what i'll be subsisting on until next food shop... could be worse...

Suma2021 · 09/10/2023 19:40

@Boyboyboy10
I long to see the 10 stone too!
There was a time when I was early twenties and 9stone and I remember wanting to lose weight then. Now, I look back at when I weighed 10st and think I looked and felt at my best.

I am sick of wearing the same baggy shapeless trousers because I can't fit in my jeans.
Also sick of still wearing my massive maternity pants. Was mortified when I saw my husband had hung the washing up today and my horrible old worn pants were on public display!
