2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

I've hit a plateau.

I'm going to have to reduce my calories even more arent I?

I'm using all my willpower as it is.

I'd lost weight before I started this thread. I don't want to stop now but I'm finding it harder.

@RedDoughnut

I hit a plateau when I lost weight a couple of years ago and after three weeks of losing nothing a big chunk came off, so just keep going!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 06/10/2023 10:02

welcome @MrsBobo ! and congrats to losers.
im waiting for my shopping to come today with all the new food ingredients i need. will marinate a chicken tonight, happy :)

work isn't going the best today so i'll probably have a small treat to keep me going. my vice of choice at the minute is still bueno bars but i be sure to keep them within my calories! quite fancy some malteasers as well... maybe next week.

going out tomorrow so will get some exercise in. feeling quite optimistic at the minute.

If you’ve been losing on the calories you’re eating then I would carry on exactly as you are.

The scales don’t take into consideration fluid retention or if you need a poo etc and women’s weight fluctuates.

I’d do the same as you’ve been doing and give it a couple of weeks as the PP suggested, as chances are you’ll then get a big drop.

Boyboyboy10 · 06/10/2023 11:56

I haven't exercised all week due to work and other time constraints. Today, I can either do an hours work out in the gym which would be weights 30 mins then running 20 mins or I can go for an 8 mile walk which would be 2 hours.

Which one would be better ?

RedDoughnut · 06/10/2023 12:17

@Boyboyboy10 if the weather is nice here you are go for a walk as it could good days will get fewer over the winter and you can go to the gym when it's cold and rainy.

Boyboyboy10 · 06/10/2023 12:27

@RedDoughnut thanks, good call. Yes, currently lovely weather where I am.
I will be attempting lots of walking and gym over the weekend and the following week, with an aim to try not t weigh again until a week today. That's hard as I usually weigh every day.

HELP!! I've fallen off the wagon big time!
Toast and marmite this morning then went to McDonalds with g/f. Quarter with cheese meal. FFS.
I've given myself a talking to and TIED myself back on this wagon. I can't work out why I do this - nothing wrong in my life, no-ones upset me or anything. I don't get it.
Sorry for rant!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 06/10/2023 16:09

woah! there's nothing wrong with a mcdonalds every so often! i had it last week. don't beat yourself up, what's the use of it? you seem like a practical lady so focus on what you can take action on. you enjoyed the quarter pounder didnt you? the next step is simply to look to the future, and think about your choices over the next week, as you've already had a treat. as for why you did it, perhaps you were hungry? do you use a calorie counter? you might still be able to still end your day at around 1500-1600 depending on the choices you make. good luck!

about to start work on my chicken, its a huge one! hoping to get 3 meals out of it. (itll be mainly me eating it, my housemate might have a bit too).

Oh, I can relate! I've made some terrible choices lately. Absolutely no reason for it - I'm not stressed, I was super happy and proud of my progress.

We just have to keep looking forwards and committing to do better!

That is so frustrating but please don't feel bad!

If you must do something, could you make some tweaks without reducing calories? Add/increase fasting window, add protein/reduce carbs, add/increase resistance training - something to surprise your body a bit and make it sit up and take notice Grin

mellongoose · 07/10/2023 06:23

Hi all!

Am enjoying the scales chat (see my earlier comment about mine)! I don't think I've lost more than 3lb but I'm told my shape has changed so will try to find a tape measure.

Still plodding along though.

Can anyone give tips on how to start craving veg rather than carbs? I'm not really having much success.

Well done to all of you. Great losses!

chalkyc2 · 07/10/2023 07:24

Hi @RedDoughnut - I hit a plateau and upped the exercise which seemed to get things going again - could you try this? More exercise, more water, same food?

chalkyc2 · 07/10/2023 07:31

Are we 3 weeks in now?

So scales - I put mine in exactly the same place every morning. I'm not trying any other scales - that would scare me!!! I weigh every day to keep track - it's infuriating when what you see doesn't seem to reflect the effort you've put in though!

I'm around 4kg down over the 3 weeks. I generally hope for a kg a week and have seriously upped my exercise over the last week or so.

Keeping going!!

blimmy · 07/10/2023 09:39

Finally a bit of movement on the scales! 2lb down this week, taking me to 12lb overall since August bank holiday. Average progress definitely slowing down but I can still see where I need to do better! Still struggling to find time to exercise too! 🙄

Mercedesbenz2022 · 07/10/2023 10:38

3 lb down so far
not a lot but heading in the right direction
7 weeks til a holiday so would like to try to get to the next stone down , 10 lb loss needed to do that so 🤞

Losingmymind85 · 07/10/2023 12:18

I am so hungover.
Body weight in booze last night and really trying not to undo all my good work by eating junk today.
Impossible task I fear

PinkArt · 07/10/2023 12:54

17'13 again and back in the right direction.

beeswaxinc · 07/10/2023 20:19

So happy to hear of the successes on the thread so far!

I am plodding along, did a week well, then fell off the wagon, but have been going strong again all this week.

Have not weighed in yet, weighed in a couple of weeks ago and would like to put some steady progress under my belt first!

RedDoughnut · 07/10/2023 20:39

My Friday was an unmitigated total food disaster.

I was just so tired of being on a diet. So tired of thinking about food and making decisions instead of just eating what I wanted.

I've been better today. But have events tomorrow and Monday.

It's a bump in the road. I'll get better

Bit late to this but I'd like to join please. I'd like to lose at least 10lbs by Xmas

TheBushOfYourGarden · 07/10/2023 21:43

I'd like to join too.
I have 3 st to lose.
Will weigh in tomorrow 👍

ToddlerMumma · 07/10/2023 21:59

2 weeks in and I'm not doing well enough!
SW 4st
CW 13st12lb
Lost 2lb
I need to double that! I had no wine tonight (which makes a change for a Saturday night!) as I think alcohol is one of the things that really stops me losing. Keep going all!

sushinelove · 07/10/2023 23:43

Can I join too please?
I've been hanging around here for the last couple of weeks and think I finally need to delurk. I really need to lose a good 4 stone, but will be delighted with 2 by Christmas. Have been following keto since 19th sept. I weigh in on a Tuesday though because that's what day I started

SW 16 st 2lb
CW 15 st 7lb

jeomeollibyeoldul · 08/10/2023 14:07

welcomes @sushinelove , great job so far!

cooking went well yesterday, eating leftovers today. also going out a bit later for a birthday celebration. looking forward to it. this time of the year we have a lot of family birthdays for some reason!

need to do some food shopping again soon... im trying to cut back on spending a little bit as its a tight month but im not really sure where else i can cut back... trying to cook meat/rice etc in batches at the moment. also trying to keep it all healthy and generally within my calories. if anyone has any midweek, healthy recipe go-tos to share, that would be amazing.
