2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Weighed myself today and lost another 1 kg. Happy with that. Worked out that I need to lose 12.7kg for 2 stone, so still on target. I've bought a new water bottle so this week's goal is to up my water intake. Have a good week ladies.

Current loss - 1kg
Total loss - 2kg
Target loss - 12.7kg

Happy October!

Fell slightly over my calorie goal this week (not logging calories burned though), but Ive managed to lose another 2lb in the last 8 days. on track for Christmas though with a holiday coming up beforehand I'll have to be sensible!

Starting weigh for this challenge: 19st 9lb
Current weight: 19st 4lb
2st for Christmas: 5lb/28lb
Average loss needed to reach goal: 1.91lb per week

jeomeollibyeoldul · 02/10/2023 20:54

i have always eaten carbs when losing weight. i just keep to my calories goal of around 1500. coffee with milk is fine imo. logically its not coffee with a bit of milk that makes you gain weight, its much more significant thing, too much pizza, too much crisps cake etc.

i make homecooked meals and take care to have reasonable portions to help me. i also try to include more veggies, dont have more than 1 treat in a day (i have about 3 a week, small things) and eat filling foods like porridge.

2 weeks in

SW 142.6kg
CW 140.7kg
Loss 1.9kg / 4lbs

From a middling effort with a couple of binges. I’ve started fast 800 today to try kickstart things properly and reset my eating. aiming for 2 weeks but just telling myself to try for one first in the hopes it feels easier. Keep expecting to not stick to it but I really really want to this time. Have done all my meal prepping and today was not as awful as I’d been expecting. Awaiting my usual 11pm hunger surge though.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 02/10/2023 23:24

Weigh in day .

Start - 15st 7lb / bmi 38.9

Today - 15st 1lbs

1lb loss. This week. 6lb total.

I think there was a discrepancy with my last weigh in but seems to be sitting at 15st 1lb.

RedDoughnut · 03/10/2023 07:48

I'm the same weight I was on Thursday last week

Where is my "whoosh"?

Shows how little I should eat not to gain. Sigh.

I don't have scales in the house (I get far too obsessive) so need to nip out to boots to get weighed this week.
I had a decent week. No sweets, lots of salad and veg. Limited carbs. No breakfast bars.
Had a starving day yesterday and had GF Weetabix, banana and blueberries, tomato soup and GF crackers for lunch then dinner was leftover spiced frittata and salad. Ended up having 6 Percy pigs and probably around 12 sour patch kids and I feel like death today. They're not joking when they say sugar is poison. Delicious, delicious poison.

Thanks for this!

When I reduce my carbs I definitely eat less high calorie foods like pizza or extra portions of mash potatoes, so it’s highly likely it’s not the carbs making me fat lol.

I do better when I can have some carbs though as it fits into family/working life better and it’s sustainable, so thank you for your advice.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 03/10/2023 11:07

no problem! unless you are drinking about 50 cups a day im sure youll be fine. i wasnt trying to say pizza/potatoes are evil/make people fat, like i say i still eat them, its just the proper portion that can be the issue. for example today im having mash with lunch but its a portion with only about 290 cals in it. i dont weigh or log everything but i do try to have an idea of what it is in cals.

also need to go to the doctors tonight so ill probably pick up a small dinner when out. very sad to report that after being delighted to fit into my favourite jeans again, i suddenly notice theyve got a rather large hole in the inseam. new jeans it is...

I was just thinking about this recently. I look, sleep and feel much worse shortly after I’ve had a sugar binge. As I have a sweet tooth it’s actually good that I feel the ill effects of sugar, as it acts as a bit of a deterrence.

Yesterday I just couldn’t be bothered to cook dinner and wasn’t hungry enough to order a takeaway ( they do quite big portions at my local) so I went to sleep without dinner.
I’ve kind of figured out if I don’t eat past a certain time I often can’t be bothered to cook/eat a proper meal. So I’m planning to eat my last meal by 8pm from now on and avoid having any snacks in except fruit. So if I don’t make dinner before then I’ll just have fruit instead.

Goneback2school · 03/10/2023 12:30

89.8kg today. Down a total of 6.6kg from when I started. So just over one stone gone! Hope to never see ninety something on the scale again.

Foxymoxy68 · 03/10/2023 13:32

Back from holiday and ready to roll!
Doing calorie deficit, low carb and high protein as well as cutting out the booze and sugar. Only on day 2 but feeling positive. Logging everything on Nutracheck helps me to stay on track.
I also have scales which sync to my phone and can calculate BMI, body fat etc. The graphs are a visual reminder of my progress (or lack of! 🤣)
Day 1: 12 stone 4lb. Weighing on Mondays.
Keep going everyone!

shearwater · 03/10/2023 14:12

Another 1lb off today, down to 12st 8lbs from 13st 6lbs. Had a big loss (8lbs!) in week one then it was 2lbs, 1lb, 1lb, so 12lbs altogether, 1st 8lbs to go. My waist has gone from 34" to 31" and I'm really pleased about that, would like to get it to 28" if possible. I've been doing 5:2 and 16:8.

Next goal is a stone off in total by next week.

Oh I did 104,000 steps last week too, the most I've done in ages. I ran for an hour yesterday- well, run/walk as it was rather warmer outside than in the gym but I really enjoyed it, though my legs ache today.

SundayCherry · 03/10/2023 14:54

Hello all, would love to join. Weighed in this morning at 14st exactly which is the heaviest I’ve ever been and I’m only 5ft4. I’ve had a tough year, a break up, gone no contact with one of my parents as well. I’d love to lose and start new year on the up.

With 11 weeks until Christmas Id love to be 12st 4 on Christmas Day but we shall see! That would be a loss of 21! I’m going to weigh in on a Tuesday morning :)

current stats

Start- 14st 0
Target- 12st 4
Loss- 0 pounds

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/10/2023 15:08

Does anyone not weigh themselves at home?

My new scales arrived yesterday and so I’ve checked my weight today and upstairs tells me I’m 14.3 and downstairs tells me I’m 17.10!!

I want to check it more accurately but I’m not sure where to do it to.

Someone earlier in this thread said they went to Boots.
My guess would be the old scales need a new battery. I think I recall people have said this before 😢

RedDoughnut · 04/10/2023 07:48

@1month That's a massive difference! I have 2 scales that are about 5lbs different ( I use the one that makes me lighter!)
What's your best guess to which of your is more accurate?

I never weigh upstairs because of the wooden floors, so I weigh downstairs because of the hard floor.

morning all! i have a fairly busy day today which wont end until quite late so im hoping to keep my eating on track - usually it works as im distracted so wont be mindlessly snacking or anything like that. my cravings are pretty much gone which is good. ill focus on eating hearty healthy food and a lot of water today. more fruits and veggies!

GoodDream · 04/10/2023 09:42

I have to admit that a good few years ago I bought some rather expensive Marsden medical grade scales because I was so stressed out by scales weighing 5lb different if you moved them half an inch or looked at them funny 😂

In the past I've also weighed once a week at my gym for a while, and there's always the option of a slimming group with scales.

blimmy · 04/10/2023 10:24

I've been taking my measurements intermittently since I started.
Despite the actual weight loss seemingly slowing down and only losing one pound over the past fortnight, it seems I'm still losing inches - my waist has gone from 38" to 34" and I can actually see some semblance of a waist, as opposed to a round barrel-like shape that I was before. 😁
Non-scale victories like this keep me going when I feel like I'm not getting anywhere!

Bananas1350 · 04/10/2023 11:06

@blimmy i found that if the scales didn’t move on weigh in day it really messed with my brain. I now weigh everyday and I cannot tell u how much better that makes me feel. Seeing some days not move at all. And the lows and highs. I used to feel like a failure when I hadn’t lost weight. But now I just shrug and say that’s okay I know I have lost this week. So much better for my brain.

I tried to measure. But then every time I went back I couldn’t remember where I placed the tape measure. 😂

recklessgran · 04/10/2023 11:33

Morning all. I'm plodding on here. I'm trying very hard to stop snacking apart from one Cathedral City mini mid afternoon to give me a protein boost. I realised looking at MFP that almost a third of my 800 calories was going on snacking - albeit relatively healthy snacks. I have increased the size of my dinner with much more veg so hopefully that will help make me feel like I've had a substantial dinner. Eyes on the prize as I really want a stone off before we go on holiday on 5th November. Halfway there.

1month · 04/10/2023 12:18

Thank you all.

My goal is 12.5lb which if I’m 14st then it’s achievable by Xmas but if I’m 17st then I’ve got no chance but I’ll still hopefully lose 2st.

I will try with new batteries and try again tomorrow morning.

If not I’ll have a look in boots and then see what theirs says.

I think I will try with a tape measure too.

If my scales are staying the same in one place, then I may take the number with a pinch of salt but still track the pounds lost, so then I’ll still hopefully be able to see my progress as a loss of weight is more important than the actual number.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 04/10/2023 13:48

Anyone use a smart measuring tape ? I was looking at the renpho ones as i have renpho scales vut thinking it may be a waste of money?
