2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

@recklessgran I'm so glad the information was helpful!

@Blondeshavemorefun I'm on 800 as well, not hungry at all really, just half an hour or so before my first meal of the day around 11.30am. It really depends on what you eat.

RedDoughnut · 27/09/2023 11:57

I bought these little puddings called Chocolate Fix, they are about 70 calories ( and not that nice, quite artificial tasting, which of course they are) and my friends daughter who is 6 spotted them and said
Oh, Mummy eats those.

Which I thought was odd as mummy is young, and slim and fit.
And then it dawned on me, that's probably why she's slim.
My chocolate treat would have been a Gu cheesecake or something.
It wouldn't have occurred to me to get a low calorie anything unless I was dieting.

I know what you mean. I was invited in to my daughters friends mum's house for a cuppa and she apologised she had nothing sweet to offer me with it. "If we buy sweet stuff - we just eat it" She was also slim and fit. My mind was blown 😂

Hi All! My first post, and I know I'm late, but hoped I could join. Writing it down somewhere is helping me (can't be in denial any more)!

Weighed in at 12.9st today.
I've got 3 stone to lose.

I piled on the weight over pregnancy and since my son was born 2 years ago. I found breastfeeding and the lack of sleep made me constantly ravenous and my head just hasn't been in the game.
I am still breastfeeding - so don't want to be drastically cutting calories, but instead focusing on moderation. Previous posters have mentioned the "fuck it" attitude and this is definitely my problem too - being all or nothing, if I have one biscuit I'll tell myself I might as well eat the whole box. I binge eat a lot and really struggle to switch myself out of the binge trance and just stop instead of totally falling off the wagon. For this reason I think I'm going to try and avoid any triggering foods altogether, but if I have them, try to just stop.

I am ashamed about the weight gain and what my friends and family think. In the past I was super fit and worked hard on my physique.
I would absolutely love to lose enough weight to fit in my clothes (and stop wearing baggy ugly things all the time) and to regain some self confidence!

So I will be following everyone's comments as am finding them really motivating. Thank you.

TrialbySourdough · 27/09/2023 13:36

About to make myself a little omelette for lunch, and I really really want a bagel with it. Sigh. A few walnut halves is just as good as bread. It is. Eyes on the weightloss prize. Not on that lovely bagel.

Bananas1350 · 27/09/2023 15:34

@TrialbySourdough i have a chicken sausage omelette every morning. I have the heck chicken ones. Really low calories. But not great if u cook them in the oven so I fry them with the spray fat. I only have the egg white of the omelette. So three whites are only 51 calories and I believe the sausages are 77 calories for two. And I have a banana after. Keeps me full up.

recklessgran · 27/09/2023 16:54

Welcome @Suma2021 you'll be fine here - everyone's lovely in the @RedDoughnut slimming club! I think we're all doing different things with the same end goal. Like you, I love reading all about what everyone's doing and find all the suggestions really helpful. I'm trying hard to keep off the naughty step as it's so hard for me to get off it once I'm on it if you know what I mean.

Createausernameargh · 27/09/2023 20:42

I had to cook copious amounts of pizza & garlic bread for my dcs and their friends after school today. I felt grumpy about it BUT I didn’t eat any of it! Trying to keep the end goal in sight. I love reading how you’re all getting on, really motivating as there are crisps in the kitchen & wine in the cupboard!
I’m sticking to the 800 or less and nothing after 6pm apart from herbal tea. Looking forward to Friday and Saturday though where I’ll have a glass of wine and evening dinner. I find it really helpful drinking lots of water too.

Createausernameargh · 27/09/2023 20:44

Oh but I did have the no carb insomnia last night… and it’s good to be terming about muscle mass. Would yoga be enough with that do you think?

RedDoughnut · 27/09/2023 20:44

@Createausernameargh Wow! I'm impressed with your willpower. I caved when making toast and ate a couple of slices while buttering everyone elses.

I will have to try harder tomorrow.

Down another smidge today to 90.8kg. The 80's are so close!

AngryBirdsNoMore · 27/09/2023 22:36

Bloody hell this thread has been moving far far too fast for me to keep up with the posts!

Ive been solo parenting two under two this week (well, a 3 month old and a 2yr 1 month old - nearly under 2!). This has not been great for discipline in terms of wine and chocolates and I just had an Indian take away. OH DEAR. However I have walked over 15,000 steps for the last four days which is definitely helping me to feel better about myself and means I’m burning around 3000 calories a day. Which has to be having a positive benefit right…?

qualitychat · 27/09/2023 22:39

I would love to join too. Need to lose 2 stone.

RedDoughnut · 28/09/2023 07:27

@qualitychat welcome, 12 weeks to Christmas so it can be done!

Weigh in today (a day earlier than normal for me). Lost 4lb. That's 1st 5lb in since I started on 29.08.23. I have a lot to lose, so I will be carrying on even if I get to 2st mark. Hope everyone else is doing well. Out of curiosity, when is everyone's weigh day?

Bananas1350 · 28/09/2023 10:47

Lost two pounds. ! So I’m now in the underweight category not obese.

sw : 13.1
cw. 12.1

RedDoughnut · 28/09/2023 11:29

@midnightglow29 4lbs in a week is amazing. Especially as it's not your first few weeks.

What's the secret

I was hoping everyone could weigh in on a Monday, or at least report on a Monday so we could keep track
And possibly just before Christmas do a grand total of what we all lost in the course of this thread.

But the thread took off really quickly and I think that parts got a bit lost.

It's just nice to have an end goal, even if like me you have a lot to lose and won't be done by Christmas. I thought a medium term goal was at least feasible.

midnightglow29 · 28/09/2023 12:03

@RedDoughnut yes your right. I did find it hard to go through all the comments, but that just means there is more support. I can't weigh on Monday, but I am happy to share it on Monday after I have done it.
I tend to eat light all day and then have my tea, I have stopped drinking fizzy drinks this week (diet ones) and switched to water only. I am not sure if that has helped, but my bladder hasn't appreciated it. I have started to meal plan also.
Tonight for tea, I have garlic chicken wraps. Tomorrow, I am out for tea, Sunday I have a chicken, spinach, and veg pie with peas, carrots, brocolli, and sweet potato mash.

On a side note on Saturday, I am out for tea with a friend, and we are going chiquitos. Any ideas on what I can have? I have looked at the menu, and the lowest calorie dish is the fish, but if it has bones, I won't like it. Has anyone been recently and got any ideas?

my attitude to eating out is that I'm not going to agonise too much over the menu. last week I had a pub lunch, and chose freely for the main course, but skipped booze and pudding, and tried to make extra-careful choices for the rest of the day.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 28/09/2023 13:22

i continue to order what i like at restaurants. last time i went i had a hot dog with chips. i just reduced my breakfast and dinner to make up for it. mexican style food is actually nice and nutritious with beans, avocado, meat and veggies etc.

im busy this evening from 5:30 so will have to get something quick for dinner. had a bigger, hot meal for lunch to hopefully keep me full. tried on an old work skirt today and it fits, its tight but it does fit! in a few weeks i should be able to wear it comfortably. id much rather be able to use my older clothes than have to buy new ones.
