2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

Oddly my boobs feel smaller this week. I wouldn't mind going back to a 32/34B/C even though I just bought new 36DD bras so it's all good. I'd much rather my bras were on the big rather than the small side. Also I don't seem to have had to do so much wrestling recently to get them into a sports bra!

Weigh day today and 3lbs off. That's 1st 1lb in 3 weeks. Hope everyone else is getting the results they want.

That's amazing. Well done. What are you doing to lose your weight?

That's amazing. Well done. What are you doing to lose your weight?

I am calorie counting and basically staying in a deficit all the time. I have had a scare with having high blood pressure, and it's given me a massive kick. I will have weetabix/porridge for breakfast, brown roll with ham/chicken or egg, and salad. And for tea, it can differ depending on the kids (last night we had wedges topped with chilli), and if I fancy something sweet, I have some dark chocolate or a protein yoghurt with berries. Friday night is the meal I don't calorie count, and then back to it Saturday morning.

Isthiscorrect · 22/09/2023 16:24

@midnightglow29
That's sounds like you are being really sensible. Not being so strict on the calorie deficit that it becomes boring and painful. With time for a treat. That's what I've been doing but it's not working quite as well as you. But I'm plodding. Enjoy your night.

jeomeollibyeoldul · 22/09/2023 16:28

i love @midnightglow29 approach, very balanced! slow and steady definitely wins the weight loss race. i want to continue eating as i am now when im "finished" losing weight, just slightly larger portions and maybe an extra treat every once in a while.

got absolutely drenched walking to the doctor's today as it started pouring down and id forgot my umbrella. ended up grabbing lunch from the shop but just had a wrap and brownie so kept the calories under about 700.

very happy to be back home and working on cooking for the upcoming days. i always cook tons so i can get 2-3 meals out of it.

congrats to those who had losses!

lozrox90 · 22/09/2023 18:01

Weigh day for me today after my first week of calorie counting - 4lbs off which I'm really pleased with. Celebrated by going out for lunch where I had a 10oz steak and chips and a glass of wine, oops 😅 Back on it tomorrow.

Hope everyone is getting on OK and seeing some losses ❤️

RigorMortisRadio · 22/09/2023 18:13

@midnightglow29 I like the idea of one night 'off' calorie counting, I try to stick to 1400 cals during the week so I can have more like 1900 cals on weekend days but might give this a instead.

justsaxy · 22/09/2023 18:42

I am 1.5 kilo down. No calorie counting but eating eggs for breakfast, and following glucose goddess advice. Am being very careful about the carbs that I eat in particular.

Am feeling rather chuffed with myself tonight as I scored 5kilos of bones from the butcher and they are in the slow cooker now to make beef broth.

But no on the soup season!

Evening all. Day 5 for me and going well I think. I'm quite pleased with myself today as Friday is the "Hollywood Wives Club". This is tongue in cheek by the way and is a girls day out to chat, lunch and shop in real life. Usually we hit the pub with the inevitable calorific burden but today we went to a lovely little cafe and I had quiche and a green salad with a mug of black coffee. Not too bad - I made stew and dumplings in the slow cooker so DH and DD1 who came for dinner and DD4 who's staying until she heads off to Japan on Thursday had that. I made a small platter for myself with wafer thin ham and roast pork from the deli, pickles and salad. Just about managed to scrape in at 789 calories for the day according to MFP. Happy with that. Well done to all you losers there's some amazing losses on here. I'm not weighing until Monday which will be my regular weigh day. Fingers crossed I'll have lost something. @midnightglow29 I also like the idea of one meal a week off the wagon. That might work well for a lot of us and help us deal with social occassions when the temptation is to think "sod it I've messed up now so might as well carry on!"

Insidelaurashead · 22/09/2023 20:57

Hi everyone, hoping I can join, better late than never! I've got 35lbs to lose now-having already lost just under 4 stone since last May. Slow and steady and some weeks I gain a couple of pounds, as I relax on holidays etc, but I have a big trip (Hong Kong) in Feb and I'm determined to hit my goal for then.

My plan is a week or two of calorie counting and upping exercise as a little reset, a lot more water and trying not to stress eat. Recently been made redundant so very stressed

@Insidelaurashead that's amazing already. Do you feel different? Tell me it's worth it!

@OldFatLadyTriesAgain Welcome! It can be a slog and I'm just doing what I can. Not even day by day or meal by meal, it's now mouthful by mouthful!

It's great to see that this thread has taken off so well. I'm hoping we can keep the momentum going for all who join.
I've been on other threads that fizzle out.

We have to keep going for 13 more weeks!

@shearwater I'm very jealous of you, smaller boobs make such a difference to both shape and comfort.

Having always been an hourglass shape I'm somewhat alarmed to see that menopause has turned me into an apple. So far my weight loss has been around the hips and thighs, and the blubber around my middle isn't budging!

mellongoose · 23/09/2023 07:26

Is it normal to fluctuate between 4 and 5lb depending on what time of the day you get on the scales?!! It seems to be my normal, but also seems like a lot.

I wonder if I'm eating something that doesn't agree with me 🤷‍♀️ ?

Me too Seddon I wasn’t hippy before but now carry all of my weight forwards in boobs and stomach. Makes dressing very challenging. I am now officially an apple and I never feel stylish with disproportionally enormous norks!

This week has been good and bad for me. Quite a bit of stress related to dealing with other people. I haven’t hit my exercise goal which I am annoyed about. Done better with food. I find having x 3 cooking sessions a week really helps so there is always something healthy in the fridge; even if I just roast veg in the oven.

Earlier in the week I roasted red onions, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, a courgette, x 3 garlic bulbs in their skin, and a couple of those large mild chillis. Lightly covered veg in olive oil to roast and flavoured with garamasala, turmeric chilli flakes and S&P. So simple - ate with a small portion of rice one night - then turned it in to soup for a couple of lunch times.

Another thing which has helped with sweet cravings is making a compote of lightly stewed windfall apple and pears with lemon rind, plenty of cinnamon and a little sugar. It really does seem to suppress cravings.

TeenLifeMum · 23/09/2023 08:18

I managed to hit my mini target - get the scales to start with 11 by today… 11st 13 it is, helped by a mammoth migraine yesterday with sickness. Not quite the plan and now I still feel rubbish for today’s family wedding. Hoping migraleve will be more effective today.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2023 08:20

Strolls in and waves to all

On one thread but happy to join another

Would love to lose 2s for Xmas but unlikely

I'm usually a snail at lb a week

But restarted

3 last week and 3 yesterday so 6lbs off so far

Sure next week will be back to lb loss as body gets used to diet

Good luck all

suneetime · 23/09/2023 08:56

A bit late to the party but I’d love to join to stay accountable. Been doing 16.8 since 1st Sept and 5lbs down. Only 3 and a bit stone to go and I’ll be at goal! I think 2 stone is a bit ambitious by Christmas as I seem to lose slowly but as long as it keeps going in the right direction I’ll be happy with that.

blimmy · 23/09/2023 09:15

Morning all,
Pleasantly surprised to step on the scales and see a 1lb loss today, so I'm 12st 5.5lb. ☺️ I've not had the best week due to emotional eating/drinking, which I need to learn to stop. I wasn't expecting to lose anything so although my average has slowed down, it's still something.

Like pps, menopause has completely changed where I hold weight. A month ago I looked pregnant and found it hard to bend over cos my belly got in the way - I can already tell it's shrinking ☺️ and I'm sure my boobs are shrinking too 😀
I really need to find a way to fit in exercise now and maximise my weight loss!

Flowerbfbfbf · 23/09/2023 09:18

Joining. Brushing my teeth and taking meds after dinner, so no reason to eat more later. Late evening was when a few chocolates and some crisps were adding some unhealthy calories.

hi everyone and welcome joiners. personally im aiming for about a stone off by christmas but anything extra would be a welcome bonus.

just finished my morning porridge...also had a kitkat as a boost...going out this afternoon and then itll be pork eggs and rice for dinner.

ive honestly not even felt like im on a "diet" the past month and a half, but the results have still been great. put my favourite jeans on this morning and they were loose on me! so pleased

Omg, that is totally amazing. Can I ask how you are doing this ? I'm doing v low carbs, lots of protein/veg, some fruit, a hell of a load of gym work (not building muscle, losing lbs). I've stalled a little. Lost half Stone.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 23/09/2023 12:27

2 lb down
chipping away at it
been really focused at lunch time , protein and salad but in the evening I struggle not to
pick after main meal ,
this week I will focus on that and start cutting it down , then hopefully out

well done to everyone!
