Slimming September

Hi ladies,

Excuse the lack of originality in the title. Hope everyone has had a good Summer. I'm starting September at 8st12, a few pounds down from last month (for the first time all year) cause of my horrible lurgy. Just aiming to enjoy September and eat relatively healthily.

Morning OP - can I join? I’m weighing and measuring tomorrow morning - plan on no alcohol Sept, IF 12noon -8pm every day and joining gym!!! Gotta beat the menopause weight creep somehow !

changer2010 · 31/08/2023 11:01

Hi, can I join too? I'm 10 stone 3.5, looking at losing 1.5 stone gradually. I'm calorie counting and exercising.

GaraMedouar · 31/08/2023 11:08

Hi changer2010 - do you have a target for Sept - I’d like to lose half a stone in Sept - reason why it’s quite high is that I’m doing low carb and I normally lose quite a lot initially and then it slows down to a crawl!

GymWanker · 31/08/2023 11:34

Hi, 2 stone to ditch here! I've joined a gym, and got a PT (I figure the cost will probably match my usual lack of preparation and wine cost!!!)

I've told him slow and sustainable, not a big body transformation that I'll ruin as soon as I have a weekend away so he's doing 3 week outs a week (1 with him, 2 myself) and set me a calorie and protein target.

I'm trying not to have a weight target, more a 'if those clothes could fit me again please' target!

changer2010 · 31/08/2023 11:45

I'd like to lose 4 lb in September - I've lost 5 stone already so I'm going slow. Good luck @GaraMedouar !

I hope the PT helps @GymWanker !

GymWanker · 31/08/2023 11:47

OMG @changer2010 that's amazing! Well done! That's a massive achievement.

changer2010 · 31/08/2023 11:53

Thanks! Just need to keep it off...

GaraMedouar · 31/08/2023 15:43

Well done @changer2010 that’s really good going - but yes definitely harder as you go on. I’ve lost around 2 stone over 3 years - sort of since covid times - but have around a stone to go - I’ll see tomorrow what I’m starting at weight wise (tonight will be my last night of wine and peanuts!!! )

I could probably do with a PT @GymWanker but I can’t believe how expensive a gym is already - although to be fair I’ll probably save that quite quickly by not buying wine!

Me1987 · 31/08/2023 16:40

Hi. I would like to join, currently lost 9lbs in 5 weeks with Orlistat and calorie counting, wanting to lose another 5lb in September so starting at 12st9

LBB2020 · 01/09/2023 00:12

Thanks for the thread @Octopus45. Marking my place and will be back to update

GaraMedouar · 01/09/2023 06:36

Good morning all - starting weight is 9st 5lbs so if I manage half a stone this month then I’ll be under 9 stone for the first time since my twenties !! I’m only 5ft 1 ‘’ though.

Gym induction this afternoon - here I go! 😁

GymWanker · 01/09/2023 08:05

@changer2010 you can do it!

@GaraMedouar - I know it feels like a swizz, but I’m hoping that by investing the money, I will commit. I’ve just filled in his stuff on the app, so feeling motivated. Looking at your last post I’m a couple of lbs heavier than you, but 5ft1. What do you want to get down to? I’d really like to skim 8 stone, but now I’m in my 40s I’m not sure? Maybe I’ll change my mind if muscle comes into play!

Come on September - we’ve got this 💪🏼

changer2010 · 02/09/2023 08:58

I'm going to weigh in on Saturdays because the 30th Sept is a Saturday. So my weight is 10 stone 3.25 lb, down from 10 stone 3.5.

GaraMedouar · 02/09/2023 09:45

@GymWanker - I’d like to get to around 8 stone. Gym chap told me to throw away my scales though - haha - can’t do that although I will try not to weigh until 1 Oct - but I know I’ll crack - I’m addicted to hopping on and off! I also got my DD to take some bikini photos - front/side and back view -aargh - they are awful - not going to be putting those anywhere.

First session at gym this morning - did warm up on treadmill and then tried weight machines. So many knobs to adjust etc - feel quite deflated although I know it’s only day one. So next week I’m contacting gym guy to book a PT appt - so we can go through each machine, how to use and adjust , and suggested weight. I’m totally floundering - all I ever did at home was little YouTube videos with tiny dumbbells - but I know I need to get stronger - particularly as post menopause now - and worried about osteoporosis and muscle loss as I get older.

changer2010 · 02/09/2023 12:03

I weigh every day and look at the trend. Good luck with the gym/PT @GaraMedouar !

GaraMedouar · 02/09/2023 14:55

Thanks @changer2010 - that’s a good idea of yours actually i think - I could do a graph plotting my progress 😁

changer2010 · 02/09/2023 14:57

@GaraMedouar I use Happy Scale, it's an iphone app.

GymWanker · 04/09/2023 10:19

@GaraMedouar I know exactly what you mean about all the knobs and leavers etc! I've made it clear to this PT I want to be able to use the machines when he's not there too!

I've started using his app today, so automatically changed my breakfast as I was too embarrassed to admit to 2 crumpets 😂

@changer2010 thank you for the app recommendation, I'm going to download it for myself! x

GaraMedouar · 04/09/2023 12:18

@changer2010 - I’ve downloaded app 😁 thanks so I’m weighing every day to keep track - hope to see a downward trend !

ooh crumpets 😂 yum.
I’m trying to stick to keto at the mo - so just having steak and eggs for lunch - I was listening to some woman on a podcast who said you should have large amount of protein in first meal of the day - can’t actually remember why now but she says you really have to focus on building muscle when older so need more protein than was previously recommended.

GymWanker · 04/09/2023 12:53

Oh @GaraMedouar that's really interesting. I'm going to look it up. I've had greek yogurt this morning, and usually am starving by 12, yet right now, I'm not that hungry so I think the protein helped with that too.

GaraMedouar · 04/09/2023 13:10

@GymWanker - Greek yogurt was one of the foods she mentioned was good and has loads of protein but low sugar and fat.
I'm trying anyway to do a mild version of intermittent fasting - so not eating until around 11am and then finishing by 8pm - I was getting in a bad habit of watching a film in the evening and getting snacks so trying to cut that out. And that’s what it really was - a habit.

GaraMedouar · 07/09/2023 14:49

Anyone doing a weigh in tomorrow morning? As it’s one week in! I will post in the morning 😁

Tonight I’m going to the gym with my son as PT - basically just to show me all the machines and what knobs to adjust height and weights etc.

I went to the gym a couple of mornings ago and after struggling a bit thinking this is awkward I realised I was sat on it the wrong way round 😂 hope no-one noticed 🤫

GaraMedouar · 08/09/2023 06:14

Morning - so first week weigh in I am down to 9st 1.5lbs, so down 3.5lbs in a week - which I expected as water weight anyway - still not under the 9st mark but I just need to keep going now and not crack with some wine as a treat ! Hopefully I’ll lose a bit more next week.

Hope everyone else is doing well. 😁
