I was doing slimming world until last night. I was doing it since June and haven't lost a single pound since Aug.

I think it's time for change. I am starting WW on Tuesday. Any body else up for joining me.

would have kicked my DH too!

any suggestions for summery/no soup lunches that aren't too high in points but very filling?

lizandlulu · 09/05/2008 20:30

salad/cous cous and chicken i have lots and its lovely.

oregonianabroad · 10/05/2008 08:39

HI all, well done on the losses. I am really trying hard but seem stuck now, must be making up for dramatic loss in the first weeks.

the nice weather makes it easier to get out and walk tho (how many extra points do you get for lugging a lo in a backpack & pushing a toddler?)

have a good weekend!!

oregonianabroad · 10/05/2008 08:40

summery lunch: smoked salmon, extra light cream cheese, bread of your choice or bagel.

smoked slamon salad w/new potatoes and spinach

RiaButterflew · 10/05/2008 09:50

anyone know the point for gojo berries? I bought some for DH as a joke (don't ask) and he'll have to eat them now, but needs to count them.

I was going to try no count this week but went shopping before I read the book...

Have a great weekend.

lizandlulu · 10/05/2008 10:56

no idea about gojo barries, would they be simmilar for raisins?

emmabemmasmom · 10/05/2008 12:26

Hi everyone! I have decided to try and loose my baby weight. I have about...oh god I just did all the math and it is like 2.5 stone to loose! Ok well I didn't think it was that high and so now feeling disscouraged again! I have been putting it off with every excuss...SO...not quite sure how to start. I have never dieted before as I never really needed to before my husband did this to me haha...

WW seems interesting, but I have read about a lot of others and that stupid pink patch seems very alluring. Any suggestions?

Should also add that my husband is the perfect weight and if I asked him to give up some foods or diet with me he would laugh as he opened another pack of crisps...he would then tell me I don't need to loose weight (which would make me glow for about 5 seconds till I saw my muffin top in the mirror)...but he would be encouraging...while still buying 'the good stuff' just knowing it is in the house would kill me...so how do you do it without condemning your entire house to a 'diet zone'??

RiaButterflew · 10/05/2008 13:05

oops, goJI berries (I blame FIL). they are, I think, 1 point per 1/4 pack. just in case anyone wants to know for future ref.

DH is happy - I made him WW BLT for lunch

lizandlulu · 10/05/2008 13:52

hiya emmabemmasmom, i think you just have to have a bit of will power. all the adults in our house are doind weightwatchers, apart from dh, who says he is then eats crap anyway!
but dd is 2.6 and has lots of goodies. it is hard to not eat them, and we all cave in everynow and again, but for the most part, you just have to control yourself

emmabemmasmom · 10/05/2008 14:17

hi lizandlulu...thanks for your message and yes I know...will power...gotta get some of that

Just hard when hubby is tucking into a Snickers and I feel as if I have eaten cardboard all week and all I can think of doing is snatching it out of his hand, pushing him over and locking myself in the bathroom with the 'Snickers' like I am 5.

As long as I just imagine that and don't act on it I am fine...really. I am fine

mixedmama · 10/05/2008 14:45

Emma - it doesnt have to be like eating cardboard, i find planning meals really helps me get good variety and i dont really feel like i am missing out. I also add extra chilli / coriander type things to everything to make sure they dont taste too bland.

If i fancy chocolate i just have some choclate otherwise i will crave it all week and then when i di cave in i will over indulge. My advice is to make sure that if you wnat it you just factor it in to your points allowance.

Smoothies are great for summer. I have become addicted and just discovered that if i have tall cap instaed of a grande from starbucks it only cost one point (skimmed milk obv). Very pleased.

emmabemmasmom · 10/05/2008 15:09

I guess that is the thing...I am not sure where to start and what to start to be precise. I have never done WW but have heard so much about it. I don't have a book, which I have read that people have...and don't know the point system.

I went to the website, which does not give much info unless you sign up and also I tried to find first, how many points I should be eating, and second how many points things have and all I found was a very scary algebraic equation that I cannot even begin to do.

So! I would be willing to give something a go (and know I could do it) if I knew just what to do. I work out and go for long walks with the baby, but it is not working cause I have not changed the way I eat. So...time for an overhaul...just where to start?? confused and having a fat day

mixedmama · 10/05/2008 15:48

Are you thinking of actually joining a meeting, cos if you do then they will give you all that info. Otherwise i think a few people on here have bought the points book online, which gives you the points for almost anything.

Just start small... things like having sweetner instead of sugar and skimmed milk instead of whole or semi etc etc. Anything you can substitute for soemthing a little better so low fat options and stuff.

Joining a meeting was the best thing for me. You can even take the kids along and just get weighed you dont need to stay for the meeting as they give you helpful little leaflets each week.

I always eavesdrop on people talking about what they have done different each week.

If you really cant join a meeting then just bear in mind that you can eat as many veggies and salad as you like, so just try to fill half your plate with these and then one quarter protein and one quarter potatoes or whatever. also if you feel hungry throughout the day you can snack on most fruit for 1 point, breadsticks are 0.5 and so are rich tea biccies.

mixedmama · 10/05/2008 15:50

i menat buy the book on ebay

emmabemmasmom · 10/05/2008 15:58

Thanks for the advice!

I did a search and there are meetings very close to my house.

I will look into the book too.

I didn't want to invest in something unless I knew something about it first!

oregonianabroad · 10/05/2008 19:01

emma,
you will be able to find low-fat alternatives for a lot of your favourites. OK, they are not always as tasty, and you have to manage portion control, but I could not live without the occassional pack of reduced fat crisps (the ones from Aldi, of all places, are really nice) or WW carrot cake.
I have been doing this for just over 3 weeks, I've lost 8 pounds and feel great, and I have not yet felt deprived as I have on other diets. I do the on-line thing, never go to meetings, and it just suits me really well.
Hope that helps and good luck.

oregonianabroad · 12/05/2008 12:07

ooh, ooh! Another pound, that makes 9 in 3 & 1/2 weeks, whooooooo-hoooie!

mixedmama · 12/05/2008 14:41

Well done... my weigh in is tomorrow hoping for 3 pounds as will then be a round (excuse the pun) 11 stone.

ShortandSweet · 12/05/2008 20:16

Hey ladies I am back on line now. Took pc world 2 weeks to fix my laptop.
Have had a pretty good week but I did have a pizza without cheese which probably cuts the points nearly half.

Has anyone got any really yummy recipes?

OP posts:
oregonianabroad · 12/05/2008 21:51

fingers crossed for you, MM.

Hiya S&S.
I've had a lovely grilled salmon steak on wilted spinach with new potatoes. Used a little bit of basalmic vinegar and lemon juice, it was really nice.

we had chicken fajitas from the WW cookbook, easy peasy and nice too. I'll post the recipe if you want it.

Am doing penne & chicken breasts with marinara sauce & melted low-fat mozzerella tomorrow night.

Must stop now, am making self hungry again.

lisa34 · 12/05/2008 22:09
