Jumping through June

Octopus45 · 31/05/2023 08:38

Hi ladies,

Here is the new June thread.

I've actually managed to cut down on carbs over the last few days, not out but down and I've managed to lose two and a half pounds since the weekend. I know it will be water but I feel as if I might be getting on the right trap. So this morning I weighed in at 9st1.25. I'm going to be ambitious for once (yes I know its only three and a bit pounds) and aim for 8st12 by the end of June.

Can't believe it's going to be June tomorrow!

@Octopus45 that's a good plan. And losing 3 and a bit pounds is nearly a pound a week, so wouldn't be a bad loss at all! How tall are you?

I would like to finish June at under 70kg. On Monday I was 72.4kg (though have been heavier since then - think it's water weight). So it is very possible. I will be continuing to do a proper weigh in on Monday or Tuesday of each week.

Octopus45 · 31/05/2023 11:53

@ScottishBeth I'm 5ft5, would be delighted with just under a pound a week. I'm sure yours is water weight, it will probably be gone in a day or so. Know what you mean about it being nearly June, dont know where this year has gone.

OP posts:
ScottishBeth · 31/05/2023 12:01

@Octopus45 what is your goal long term? 9 stone sounds like a good weight to me! I'm 5'4 and haven't been as low as that in decades!

And yes, I've mostly been eating to plan and I think my period is due, so really hoping it'll all come off at some point in the next few days.

Octopus45 · 31/05/2023 13:22

@ScottishBeth it should be, but I'm quite small boned so I'm one of those people who looks better at the lower end. My current weight puts me at a size 12 on the bottom and I know of a lot of women who wear size 12 when their BMI is overweight. I'm not trying to lose loads cause I'll lose too much weight in my face and look older. I'd be happy to be between 8 and a half and nine, which I haven't been for a long time, apart from for a few stressful weeks in 2021

ScottishBeth · 01/06/2023 07:54

@Octopus45 makes sense! Maybe this will be the month! Losing weight is hard though.

LBB2020 · 01/06/2023 08:05

Good morning ladies, I can’t believe how quickly June has rolled around!
Thank for the new thread @Octopus45.
Weighed in this morning at 11st (although my scales randomly said 10st14 😆), so that means I lost 2 or 3 lbs during May. I’m still exercising regularly and have added another class weekly so am doing 4 sessions a week consistently. My eating has been mostly ok but it was my wedding anniversary over the bank holiday weekend and went off track and haven’t quite got back on track yet this week. Would love to drop a few lbs this month but will continue to focus on exercising and eating more mindfully, water intake needs increasing massively!
Sounds like you are doing really well @ScottishBeth

swallowedAfly · 04/06/2023 07:20

It feels like every time I check in there's a new thread - this year is zooming by.

According to fitbit and my scales I've lost 20lbs since mid February so it's slow but good especially as I haven't been active due to health stuff. I also reached a new milestone. I still have plenty to lose. I'm 5'7 and big boned - not a lie, I struggle to buy bangles and bracelets that fit properly. Upper mid zone of healthy weight band is good enough for me now though if I ever get there maybe I'll feel differently but it would take so much work just to maintain I think. Aiming for 11st - or a bouncy zone of 10st12-11st2.

Currently 12st6 so next goal is a reliable 12st and it would be nice to get there by end of term which is about 7 weeks away so possible but depends on whether there's a bumpy bit to get through (my weight loss is definitely not a regular linear path - sadly my weight gain is a linear zoom up path since my mid 40s and I was about a stone lighter just over a year ago then piled on weight after getting ill and have had to re-lose loads).

If I can end June at 12st 3 even I'll be happy.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I know some parts of the country have had nice weather over half term - sadly not so much here but hope those who have had it have enjoyed it.

Octopus45 · 05/06/2023 08:13

@swallowedAfly I know what you mean its flying by. Massive well done on your weight loss, think your goal sounds good as well. I'm about the same here, about a pound a a half down from just over a week ago. Being so so at the moment, which is better than abysmal which is normally the case for me lol

OP posts:
ScottishBeth · 05/06/2023 09:39

I always think a slow weight loss is fine, as long as it stays off long term! (Little bounces up are fine as well.) So well done @swallowedAfly and @Octopus45

I was 72.3kg this morning - so a tiny loss of 0.1kg! But my week hasn't been the best for eating. Although in some ways I still did really well. I went to a party the other day with a buffet. I didn't drink (not a choice really - I had to drive, but it still helped). And I only had one plate of food and then I stopped eating. No cheeky sausage rolls or anything!

Looking at my diary this week I don't have much on, and no organising things, which I have found very stressful over the past week. So am confident I'll eat well this week.

LBB2020 · 05/06/2023 19:09

You have all done so well!
I went a bit silly with sweet treats at the weekend but back on track today. It’s my birthday at the end of the month so am really going to give the next few weeks my best! If I could lose 3/4lbs this month I’d be very happy!

ScottishBeth · 12/06/2023 07:58

@LBB2020 it's hard when there's something on isn't it? And there always is! But it's good to plan to enjoy your birthday.

71.5kg this week. That's 0.8kg down on last week, so I'm pleased with that. I had to go and get some new bras the other day, as the vast majority of my existing ones weren't giving me any support any more.

I'm just 0.7kg away from the target I set at the beginning of the year! So am hopeful I'll reach that next week.

swallowedAfly · 12/06/2023 19:18

Well done everyone.

I’m basically maintaining or losing tiny bits at the moment which is ok for now so long as it doesn’t turn to gaining. I sometimes think of a sticky patch as consolidating a new weight—till I start putting it back on again—

What I’d like to do sometime soon is go for a Swedish massage. It’s lovely anyway but I also remember years ago having them when trying to lose weight and it helping-possibly just getting the lymphatic system flowing and mainly water loss but it seemed to help.

Octopus45 · 16/06/2023 07:44

Sounds as if everyone is doing well. @swallowedAfly Swedish massage sounds good, I might look into that.

Had stayed about the same but went out for a meal with my bestie last night and made the mistake of weighting myself, 3 pounds up lol. Think I do retain water in the heat as well, even though I drink gallons of the stuff.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 16/06/2023 16:07

Hope you enjoyed your meal @Octopus45!
I haven’t eaten that well this week but have dragged myself to the gym which has been a struggle in this heat!

swallowedAfly · 17/06/2023 10:11

I’m up a bit despite burning more calories. Not sure if it’s the heat or particularly poor sleep this week but will endeavour not to stress but to keep an eye on it.

LBB2020 · 17/06/2023 11:19

Keep going @swallowedAfly you're doing amazing!
I think in the heat we definitely hold onto a bit more water than normal (and I don’t drink anywhere near enough to start with!)

Octopus45 · 19/06/2023 08:59

I second that @swallowedAfly . I'm not doing very well despite my positive start to June. Went away for the weekend and ate far too much. Also feeling very hormonal. I've decided not to weight till the end of the week.

OP posts:
Nojumpingorrunning · 19/06/2023 17:10

Can I join and do an honest daily food diary for input, advice and accountability?

I ideally want to lose 1 stone 5lbs. I am better doing less /fewer meals of ‘normal’ food as I go totally off the rails if I try to be too restrictive.

today I have consumed in a 6 hour period:

cup of tea with splash of milk
beans & sausage on toast
x2 shortbread biscuits
handful of chocolate raisins
apple
small bag kettle chips
glass of milk

will just have water and green tea now until bedtime

mikado1 · 19/06/2023 20:14

Hi all, lots of you doing well! One weekend won't ruin it on you octopus. I am somehow still losing, down to a new low of 8st5, but I'm not actively losing weight now and I'm eating plenty, but out of interest got on scales on the weekend and was surprised. That's a 20y low I'd say. I'm 5ft2 for those wondering and I'm not scrawny with it but fitting comfortably into those clothes at the back of the drawer which is super. Feeling good all the time with no sugar or flour, and plenty of everything else.

ScottishBeth · 20/06/2023 08:59

@Octopus45 not weighing for a few days sounds like a good plan. A couple of days of overeating won't stall your weight loss. And hope you had a nice weekend away.

@Nojumpingorrunning welcome! Are you doing intermittent fasting?

@mikado1 well done, that's amazing!

I had a disastrous few days with overeating over the past week. So wasn't expecting much when I weighed myself this morning (one day late). To my surprise I was 70.8kg, which was a loss of 0.7kg I think. I am delighted but think it might be slightly artificial. I have a UTI so am peeing constantly, I don't know if that might make me slightly dehydrated. Also last night I was due to have pizza (shop bought an all accounted for). But I was feeling so dreadful that I didn't want to eat delicious food but not enjoy it. So instead I had one slice of peanut butter on toast, a small amount of brie, and an apple. So that may have helped.

Regardless I am 1kg off the goal I set myself at the beginning of the year. I am hoping to meet that by the first Monday in July, which is achievable I think. When I meet the goal I'm going to buy myself a new bikini.

Nojumpingorrunning · 21/06/2023 07:26

@ScottishBeth sort of- some days a week anyway when it makes sense. I find it pretty easy tbh when I’m busy.

yesterday I had:

protein shake
cheese & biscuits
prawn & veg stir fry
6 chocolate digestives 🙈

some of you have done very well on here! Hopefully I’ll stay inspired

Octopus45 · 22/06/2023 10:42

Welcome @Nojumpingorrunning sounds as if you are doing well. @mikado1 massive well done, that is an amazing weight. Well done to everyone else. Hope everyone is enjoying the weather.

OP posts:
Nojumpingorrunning · 22/06/2023 19:29

@Octopus45 I will find out tomorrow when I do my first weekly weigh in! 🙏

yesterday I was at an event so had a very junky day…

sausage bap
milkshake
chicken wrap
handful of chips
can of coke
flapjack

today in a 6 hour window:

Slice of toast with peanut butter
tuna baked potato and beetroot salad
flapjack left over from yesterday
bowl of strawberries and blueberries with cream
earl grey tea with milk and half sugar

I’m not listing non-calorie drinks like water or green tea.

Octopus45 · 23/06/2023 09:25

I weighed myself on Tuesday and I was a couple of pounds up. This morning they've gone, so I'm pleased with that

OP posts:
swallowedAfly · 23/06/2023 09:53

Pleased for you.

I’m finally down, another pound below where I was when I got sticky and bouncy on the scales.

5lbs till next real goal, 19 to the big goal.
