Hi all. Just spotted the previous thread filled up so thought I’d start a new one quickly.

@caringcarer - I was on 1.25 for a bit but have come back down to 1mg due to the supply issues. It didn’t make a lot of difference for me. I’m holding out for Wegovy next year I think. I’ll keep going as long as I can on Ozempic - only have one pen left and one ordered but no idea when I’ll get it.

I've got 3 doses of the 1 pen left and a new 1 pen unstated in the fridge. My GP is prescribing mine for me as I started with 60 BMI and very high blood pressure. The new 1 + 0.25 prescription has gone across to the chemist this morning. I've been told to wait 4 days then pop over to the chemist to see if they are in and start adding a 0.25 pen immediately. The prescription is for 4 of each of the pens so will keep me going for ages if I can get them. Last time my chemist had to order them in for me so it took 10 days. I have to go back to my GP nurse in 2 weeks for another weigh in and I have agreed to increase my steps every day and add in a second swim each week as summer hols. I've had to agree never to eat anything after 6pm too. I'm already drinking 2 1/2 litres of plain water everyday.

A very frustrating update - my delivery from Bury was stolen on its way here, apologetic postman rang the bell with an empty bag
I think I have to rely on Bury to claim against Royal Mail and replace the syringe or refund, I'll let you know how I get on with that
So frustrating when its so hard to get and I nearly had one!

Doobydolly · 27/07/2023 11:54

Hello, given supply issues with Ozempic, has anyone tried Trulicity or Mounjaro, the latter being heralded as the next big thing in the battle against obesity??

Peridot1 · 27/07/2023 12:26

@Doobydolly - I don’t think Mounjaro is available in the UK as yet. Not sure about Trulicity.

mumwheresmyribena · 27/07/2023 12:37

Mounjaro was refused NICE a couple of months ago. They asked for more info from the maifacturer. They're reconsidering on 1st Aug. Trulicity is approved in the UK for T2 diabetes, unsure if it's available for weight loss though but could still be used off-label.

MotherofTerriers · 27/07/2023 12:52

Well today the postman brought my missing Ozempic
A bit worried its not been kept chilled but at least it's here

Peridot1 · 27/07/2023 13:00

Oh that’s good @MotherofTerriers.

For anyone looking for 1mg pen, Rightangled had 4 available a few minutes ago

Doobydolly · 27/07/2023 17:49

Trulicity is available for off label use from Manual - and it's half the price of ozempic. Was thinking of giving it a go.

OpheliaABC · 27/07/2023 19:24

Hi all,

Newbie here, I have recently started to research and consider Ozempic/similar alternatives.

What's best to do right now please due to low stock?

Buy an alternative (and if so, what, and where?) I would love the most cost effective solution too, even if the effects are a bit smaller and slower. I can't justify spending more than £100-£150 a month or thereabouts.

Both my parents and my sister are now diabetic and I'm terrified. Does going via GP and requesting something make any difference due to family history? My BMI is 31 and I have been struggling with my weight for more than 10 years but this is heaviest I've ever been. Due to a stressful family/work life I have to grab what I can when I can and I think that is the issue. As much as I try to make healthy choices and actually walk quite a lot, worrying about it and feeling down about it adds to it all. I'm really struggling for time and energy and headspace, and following traditional means to lose weight just feels like a mountain and adds massively to the stress levels. I need an aid. Please help. 🙏 😔

Peridot1 · 28/07/2023 08:19

@OpheliaABC - I really wouldn’t recommend even trying to start Ozempic at the moment. Supplies are just too scarce. And really expensive. And any similar medications are basically the same shortage wise due to the supply issues with Ozempic. Whilst you would be eligible for a private prescription from on line suppliers at your BMI it’s going to cost more than £150 per month at the moment. If you are at risk of diabetes your GP might prescribe it but even then it is still impossible to get hold of for most people.

Have you tried going low carb? And cutting down processed foods? Long term that is basically what we all need to do anyway as those are the foods that contribute to both obesity and diabetes.

Morning,

I'm sure this has been asked loads of times but I don't have the ability to search.

Has anyone been sent a fresh pen and been unable to receive it over the weekend and it's not been refrigerated immediately? I'm wondering if there have been any issues

Thanks

Kfjsjdbd · 28/07/2023 09:47

Hi, if anyone sees 1mg available anywhere I would be really grateful if you could let me know please?

Wendy2003 · 28/07/2023 11:11

Has anyone started Ozempic off label and under the required BMI for weight loss only?

Peridot1 · 28/07/2023 12:15

@Wendy2003 - yes some people have. Which has contributed hugely to the current shortages.

I’ve had both a text message and email from MyJuniper about supply issues. Has anyone tried Phentermine as an alternative?

AlwaysGreen · 28/07/2023 22:04

@UsernameFail @MotherofTerriers my last pen took about a week in the post, and when I asked this from supplier, their reply was along the lines although should be refridgerated... "As long as the liquid inside the pen is clear and colourless, it will be completely safe to use."

UsernameFail · 28/07/2023 22:36

Thank you @AlwaysGreen ! I read that somewhere on the net too.

I reckon it will be fine for a few days, especially as it's not blistering hot here at the mo

AlwaysGreen · 28/07/2023 22:45

@UsernameFail I hope so 🤞 I've not yet started it, but I was going to keep it in the fridge also after I've opened it.

mumwheresmyribena · 29/07/2023 11:29

@Wendy2003
You'll struggle to get it prescribed. Given the world-wide shortage at the moment and (unless you have comorbidites) are under the cutoff BMI for prescription it's ludicrous to even try to start it now.

Yep, discovered that pretty quickly! I'm going to wait and see what happens with Wegovy in the future and with Saxenda/Ozempic supplies. I'm hoping to lose weight naturally until then but was really hoping for some help to kick start losing. I struggle MASSIVELY with motivation until I see results. Once I start eating I just keep going and I need something to take food off my mind. I'm now considering Mysimba - any experiences?

egowise · 30/07/2023 14:22

Can anybody recommend needles? There are so many and none look right?

Thank you!

Hi, looking for advice/feedback re side effects from increasing from .25 to .50. I’ve taken .25 for five weeks with no negative side effects. I move up to .50 next week and heading away for a two week holiday. What’s the likelihood I’ll develop side effects? Thanks
