Hi all. Just spotted the previous thread filled up so thought I’d start a new one quickly.

Thank you! Yes I’d say I noticed a difference the day after the first dose (inject Sunday before bed) in terms of immediate appetite reduction and not being able to eat much.

To start with, I did it alongside a meal replacement diet, and the no hunger helped hugely with compliance. Then as the weeks wore on and I experimented more, I didn’t need to do the meal replacements as I could only manage tiny amounts of food anyway, so the weight loss continued. I also no longer wanted to drink alcohol, so that also helped with the wine and snacking cycle on weekends!

NigellaAwesome · 08/06/2023 22:30

I've managed 4.5kg loss over 12 weeks, so pretty slow, but it is steady.

Quick meds are out of stock now. I find it irritating to go through the whole consultation and only find out at the end.

Well done everyone else, keep going.

Scaredtobegin · 09/06/2023 16:19

I’m in my first week on 0.5 and the side effects really took me this time! I had a slice of pizza (1 slice!!) last night and have been sick since - bloating, gas, nausea. I have managed to eat an ice cream today.

Also, night sweats? These appear new!

Nimbus9000 · 09/06/2023 16:44

Has anyone found 0.5 is insufficient to reduce their appetite? It seems everyone else can barely eat on 0.25 or 0.5, I’ve been on 0.5 for two weeks and I’m absolutely ravenous all the time, pretty sure I have only lost water weight too 😢

I read those messages too of the tiny appetites and although I’ve lost weight (about 25lbs since March) and I’ve had times of being full very quickly, I can generally eat quite a lot and have to make an effort to keep within calories. I’ve been on 1mg for two weeks and that’s been better but definitely as a larger person (BMI still about 37) I can still eat a lot. I have to limit calories to 1500 max as I would eat more and not lose then. The times when my appetite is completely gone or I can only ‘eat a mouthful’ have been rare!

TheWayOfTheWorld · 09/06/2023 17:12

I find it really weird - I had great success on 6 weeks of 0.25, few side effects, lots of appetite suppression and then go up to 0.5 and I want to knaw my arm off Confused

Nimbus9000 · 09/06/2023 17:42

@TheWayOfTheWorld So frustrating! 25 lbs is an amazing loss though @OzHopes congratulations. I guess I’ll just have to persevere and see what happens when I go up to the higher doses. Quite demoralising though when you’re paying so much and it seems every one else loses 2 stone in the first fortnight 😂 😭

Fortheloveofus · 09/06/2023 19:26

I'm the same. Second week of 0.5 and still starving and can still eat same portion. Nausea has gone but just feel overwhelming exhaustion. I keep losing and putting on same 3lb, which has been the same for past 2.5 years. I despair and I'm skint!

kkr168 · 09/06/2023 21:42

Just managed to order a 1mg pen on quickmeds

RichTeaCheddars · 09/06/2023 22:20

I'm on 0.5mg, I didn't move up to 1mg. But I have been on holiday and have missed two doses. I usually take it on Thursday. How would you go about getting back into it if it was you?

Suffer from side effects quite bad, low level nausea all time and a migraine 24hrs after dosing

Not that I know of. It needs to be refrigerated so I doubt they'd do that. Could you have it delivered to a friend's house? Or would you rather not tell them either? It's a shame you don't feel able to tell your family as it's extra pressure on you, having to explain any side effects etc.

Menora · 10/06/2023 09:06

Can I just ask for anyone who needs to get 0.5 out or a 0.25mg pen - do I inject twice? My pen doesn’t move past 0.25 on the dial but has plenty left in it

I injected twice. New needle each time just to be sure.

I did the first 0.25, kept the needle in whilst I reset it for another 0.25 and held it in until the second dose was done. So only 1 needle and 1 injection.

I managed to order a 1mg pen from quick meds too. I think they refresh their stock on their website at 6pm.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 12/06/2023 07:16

I normally sit down to inject into my thigh. No issues.
I decided to do it standing up this week and have a bruise the size of a 50p where it went in!

Mumofboys8 · 12/06/2023 08:14

Can I ask. Doe your NHS record get updated if you have a boots prescription for Saxenda?
I’m worried about the impact of having weight loss medications on my gp record as I’ve previously been refused insurance in the past.
mid I got to a private service, can you keep it off your record?

I totally agree.
I see constant messages where people with lower BMIs than mine losing loads of weight in very little time! I'm so happy for those people but also sooooooo jealous! lol
I'm definitely on my last pen now. I simply cannot afford to continue with no results. The changes I've made (upping movement significantly and moving to lower carb diet) would have given me a 6 lb loss in 11 weeks and saved me over £500 😨
I've no appetite reduction and could eat like a 6.6 ft builder at every meal!

Peridot1 · 12/06/2023 11:06

I think we need to remember that these are such new drugs that not everything is known about them. There are so many different causes of obesity and we are all different. I wonder if Ozempic works so well for some because those people are lacking that particular hormone which Ozempic mimics. But if that is not the cause of obesity in someone then it just won’t work. It’s not all about appetite suppression.

Talking about OZ not working for everyone, I'd be interested if there are any similataries between those of us who are really struggling to lose anything at all on it. I'll give some info about me and be interested to know if anyone who has not really lost any weight has anything in common:

Aged 52
5"4'
Started OZ on 12.4.2023.
Lost 6lb but have put on and lost 3lb of that at least twice during that time (although have been on away and not particularly made good food choices during this time).
Feel hardly any appetite suppression and can still eat 'normal' size meals.

Been perimenopausal for three years.

Put 2 stone on during that period
which I've found impossible to make a dent in regardless of calorie counting, upping exercise, going really low carb.

I have ME, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, raynauds and osteoarthritis and take certain medications for some of these conditions, ie methotrexate, some painkillers (although I've tried to really cut down on these over last year just because I'm not sure it's good for weight loss and/or bowel movement?)
