Hi all. Just spotted the previous thread filled up so thought I’d start a new one quickly.

@eloquent Protein shakes are UPF too, they can be part of the problem.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/05/2023 23:26

I do enjoy and appreciate not having to fight the urge to snack on an evening.

On a typical day I have
no breakfast (not hungry),
Lunch is a thin with ham and salad on it and an apple.
These were both the same pre-ozempic, but I'd be v hungry by dinner time.

Today I was out and had a steak and cheese panini for dinner. And I've not been hungry or tempted by sweet stuff all evening. It's a pleasant change.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 12/05/2023 06:07

Do you think this is how people without snacking/overeating issues feel? I used to roam the kitchen searching for something to cram into my mouth. Now, not so much!

I think it is. Had the same conversation with my sister.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 12/05/2023 06:41

@eloquent - hence all the comments I get from my husband about "just stop snacking". They make you feel like you're being lazy and weak willed; they just don't understand the intrusive food thoughts 😔

Nobody does, unless they have been through it!

That's been the most unbelievable thing for me, I really didn't think it would change my need to snack late at night!

I've shared the below on the long term users thread but thought it might be useful here too:

Weighed in today - I'm now ten weeks in and have lost 25lb. I'm still on 0.5 and haven't yet needed to move up. I use a 1mg pen and count clicks for best value.

Here are my thoughts on the last ten weeks:

For the most part, I have no side effects anymore. Very occasional nausea. I need to make sure I take my psyllium husk daily but I've only very rarely needed proper laxatives. I do get tired at times but I'm sleeping well at night and it is manageable.

I aim for minimal carbs in my day but am not totally adverse to them. I've had pizza, burgers etc as part of my diet. I've socialised. I can drink but I don't particularly fell the need to.

I just cannot binge anymore at all. I'm not constantly consumed by where my next meal is coming from and what it will be. I'd like to get to a point where I don't track my food at all, but I need to currently to keep an eye on my protein intake.

I'm hoping to increase my exercise this week. I've been focusing on daily steps until now.

I've 2 stone still to lose to get to my first goal. I'd like to have the chunk of that off before the summer holidays and that feels really doable.

I am really happy with my progress and so pleased I tried this.

JinroStrawbs · 14/05/2023 11:07

How much did everyone get out of their 0.25 pen? I know it’s a 1.5 pen so technically should get two more 0.25 out of it but it looks like there’s far more than that in the little viewer window compared to how far along the pusher is after four doses…

mumwheresmyribena · 14/05/2023 11:17

@JinroStrawbs I posted a link to all of the patient info sheets which list the quantities in each pen over in the "few months in" thread the other day. The 0.25 and the 0.5 pens both hold the same amount iirc.

JinroStrawbs · 14/05/2023 11:33

Ooo thank you, will take a look

Peridot1 · 14/05/2023 11:54

@mumwheresmyribena - was it you who mentioned foods that help mimic the Ozempic effect or am I mistaken? I’d like to do a bit more research into that.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/05/2023 12:22

I got 4 x 0.25 and 2 x 0.5 out of my first pen.

mumwheresmyribena · 14/05/2023 12:30

@Peridot1 Yes it was. I'll see if I can find the original article I read about it

Peridot1 · 14/05/2023 12:48

Thanks so much @mumwheresmyribena. Yes I did mention “Why we eat (too much)”. I have just bought “Ultra Processed People” by Chris Van Tulleken too. And I have a few Tim Spector books to read. I want a holistic way of eating healthily going forward that will help me maintain the loss from Ozempic.

OP posts:
mumwheresmyribena · 14/05/2023 14:22

@Peridot1 Yes, the whole subject interests me and chimes so much with what I've observed over the last few years. I'm very much with you on using the "ozempic time" as space to educate (and reducate) and create new habits.

Peridot1 · 14/05/2023 16:05

Yes definitely. And after years of punishment with various diets and feeling such a failure etc it feels so good to have the weight loss taken care of and to be able to just focus on a holistic healthy approach to food for health rather than punishment.

I just took my first dose! Joining you all x

Kitsmummy · 14/05/2023 18:59

I've had my first dose! Juniper ended up honouring £195 after I complained.

I'm a bloody idiot though. I stuck the needle in, watched it go back to zero then stopped pressing the button but kept it in for another six seconds. So I'm not sure if I got the full dose Confused

Rosie219 · 14/05/2023 19:06

@Kitsmummy I did that the first time, too, but it must have gone in because I felt the effects straight away. I think unless you had liquid where you injected it, you will be fine!

Same. I wasn’t sure but I can feel where it went in, can you? It’s all tingly

Kitsmummy · 15/05/2023 05:57

Errrm no it wasn't tingly. But my appetite has definitely decreased (unless of course it's a placebo effect)
I also think there may have been a teensy bit of liquid on my skin)

Ah well, I'll do it properly next Saturday and won't dwell on the potential £50 wasted!!

I have been thinking about this as I am due to go on holiday on a Sunday but early AM and I took mine late PM. I don’t really want to take the pen I can’t refrigerate it, so I might have to skip the week? Can you take it 12 hours early 🤣
