I'm 33.

I'm 1m68 (5ft6)

I don't actually know what I weight and I got rid of my scales last year when getting on them just made me cry every time and I was just too depressed to even try and start loosing weight - I have ordered scales and will weight myself tomorrow.

However last time I weighed myself nearly a year ago I was 94kg (14st 11) and I know that I have gained since then.

I started gaining weight the beginning of covid, before 2019 my very highest weight had been 68kg ( 10st10) and my normal weight had been round 62kg for most of my adult life, so I have massively put on weight over these last four years. (Separation, depression, stress at work, and just general giving up).

My body is ruined by stretch-marks and my boobs that used to be great are now just swollen and saggy and stretch marked.

I'm really depressed by my weight and have decided its time to do something about it.

I have an office job and I'm not at all active.

I've tried to start making small changes, walking to the underground instead of getting the bus, getting the stairs up the one flight to my office instead of the lift but everything feels like a struggle and I have such awful thigh chaffing that walking is often excruciatingly painful.

I how I need to make a change because on top of it being so unhealthy being so over weight just makes me so upset. I've stopped going out as much and have just retreated into a shell.

I also have an appointment with a psychologist tomorrow.

I decided last month that enough is enough and I need to do something about it all.

I've started using face cream, and am finally having laser on my very very hairy thighs and - the point of this thread - I'm going to start saxenda tomorrow.

I thought I'd journal here.

@Saxendastarter sounds like such a lovely weekend!! You'll have to let us know how the tummy massage goes, it's definitely something I'd consider if/when I struggle with constipation as it's quite a holistic approach and they do it at a place local to me so interested to know how that goes!

I'm the same at parties and I'm particularly struggling a little bit today as weekends usually involve a nice breakfast with DH, nice food and social time for me! You still have to live your life though despite losing weight and all of the food sounds like really lovely, nice quality food! All in moderation and sounds like you did great at keeping a handle on things.

My stomach feels a lot flatter than it did at the start of the week and I'm not really suffering with any bad side effects so far!

@cherrypied welcome! 😊

How are you finding it so far?

That's good to know about boots. I'm a bit concerned I'm not going to be able to buy anymore pens once these ones run out if my BMI falls under the recommended ☹️ but hopefully I'll be ok, my BMI is still 32 and I think the cut off is 27.. so got a bit to go yet before I should worry I think. Wondering whether I can buy more early before this lot of pens is supposed to run out.

Saxendastarter · 29/04/2023 17:47

Hi @BinnityBoo Have you got anything nice planned for the weekend ?

I'm just back from the tummy massage, I'm not really into anything holistic but it was really nice and calming, even if it took the whole first half of the massage for me to get used to someone touching my massive stretch marked belly and stop tensing from embrassement and self conscienceless.

The lady used warm oil for the massage and then left me all wrapped up in blankets with a castor oil liver pack and a hot water bottle with some music for a little nap. She also explained to me how to self massage in the shower the the morning with the right clockwise motions and told me that it's fine to do it even with olive oil. It obviously won't be a regular thing for me because of the price but it was really nice. But, it is great to know that if need be the tummy massage lady is nearby. I'm still really freaked out the possible constipation side effects and really don't want to have to ever go down the laxative route - I hope constipation doesn't happen too often as it was just so uncomfortable.

Best of all, I walked home (only 10 minutes) and the desired effect occurred 🤗within about 5 minutes of me being through the door. I'm feeling much better.

I haven't eaten yet today apart from lots and lots of coffee and sugar free squash, I'm not hungry at all, but I'm not sure thats the Saxenda probably more of the long party, lots of booze and little sleep.

Friends are not long up and I think we might go for a short walk before a very light supper and a very early evening!!

Hey, I was thinking of doing a recap post for everyone like the one below (mine as exemple) with my goal for July 31st and was wondering if you would mind if I did for you. I found it hard going through the other Ozempic etc threads to find exemples of different trajectories and exemples. I thought that maybe if you agree we could decide on a format together and like once every two weeks or so do a post in bold with everyones stats? Any thoughts ? And it's totally find if no-one wants to participate or if everyone thinks its not a good idea.

Starting Weight 96.8kg
Weight lost to date 1.8kg
Goal Weight 70kg
Time On Saxenda 10 days
Total percentage of weight loss so far 1.86%
Side effets Headaches/Cold Feet/Constipation
Goal for end of July 80kg would be great

OP posts:
cherrypied · 29/04/2023 21:00

Sorry posted too soon.

We are the same height too! I'm ten years older through at 43.

In 25th July go on a big holiday to California and Alaska.

Great idea to do the weekly check in. Friday/ Saturday!

I don't feel hungry but don't feel full! It's weird. Just don't feel the need to constant eat or think about food.

Bloodylovecrisps · 29/04/2023 22:28

Thanks for your kind welcomes! 😊

Sounds like a brilliant weekend @Saxendastarter and you've done amazing at not binging, I know I would have given myself the weekend off....which turns into a week then a month...!

I'm happy to do my stats, should we include dosage too?

Starting weight: 16st 8.9lbs
Weight loss: not weighed yet
Goal weight: 12st
First interim goal weight: 16st
Time on saxenda: 4 days
Dose: 0.6ml
Side effects: nausea* *

I'm hoping this might help keep me for giving up as I have always done!

Saxendastarter · 29/04/2023 22:33

Thanks @Bloodylovecrisps - I have a notoriously short attention span and never stick at anything so I feel I'm going to need support from all of you because my journey is going to be a long one. Dosage is a good idea!

Honestly, yesterday was sort of an off day - I told myself it was okay, but the saxenda must be working because it didn't take restraint or effort to not binge. I didn't have to hold back, I just wasn't as driven to food. This for me is a real positive and gives me hope!

OP posts:
cherrypied · 29/04/2023 22:38

Yes he is supportive but he thinks I just do more exercise and then I'd lose four stone. I tried to explain that unlike home I am not a triathlete and it doesn't really work like that, but he's fine with letting me do whatever I want to.

Feeling cold all over it might have just been quite chill last night though?

BinnityBoo · 30/04/2023 10:25

@Saxendastarter that's a brilliant idea about the recap posts, here are my stats below for my first week

I weigh in stone and convert to KG and finding it a bit confusing so sorry if some of these are a bit off 🤣

Starting Weight 83.9kg / 13 stone 4lbs
Week 1 loss: 30/04: 2.9kg / 6lbs
Current weight: 81.1kg / 12 stone 12lbs
Weight lost to date: 2.9kg
Goal Weight 68kg
Time On Saxenda 7 days
Side effets: small headaches, cold feet, nausea

I'm pretty shocked/amazed at my first loss. It's been so incredibly tough for me to lose weight for so many years so to see that, I'm pretty chuffed.

Ah so glad the tummy massage worked and you're feeling better! It sounds great but yes I imagine it would be pretty hard having someone touch your stomach, I'd be the same!

No weekend plans really but had a few busy weekends prior so happy to chill, my husband has had surgery on his ankle and is casted up on bed rest so think just a quite weekend in store. it's a bank holiday weekend in the UK so not feeling that Sunday panic to get everything done is so nice! Just enjoying a lazy Sunday morning with a coffee in bed currently, it's raining too which always makes it feel cozier 😂

We did sit down and book our flights to Australia yesterday, husbands family live out there, so super excited and feeling really motivated now I have that to aim for. It's 7 months away! So I'm hoping I can reach my goal weight by then.

I felt a bit anxious approaching the weekend this week because it's usually a green light to binge for me but I'm amazed I've managed to still cook a nice breakfast/dinner for us and remain totally impartial as to wanting to eat everything. I was still able to eat a bit of what I enjoy but not go totally overboard and had no desire to at all.

Yesterday I had
2 pieces of bacon on a sandwich thin
3 m&s chocolate chunk cookies with a coffee
For dinner my husband fancied burgers, so I had a 3% fat beef burger on a brioche bun, a slice of reduced fat cheese and a really tiny handful of chips
Kitkat

I tracked calories yesterday just to keep an eye on things and it still came in at 1,334 and I felt satisfied!

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend whatever you're up to ☺️

Bloodylovecrisps · 30/04/2023 15:12

I keep meaning to ask, those of you staying on the 0.6 dose for longer meaning your pens last longer (yey!) What are you doing for needles? I've been getting mine through Asda as you can just get 1 pen rather than 3 at a time but you only get 21 needles per pen but sticking at 0.6 means that a pen lasts longer than 21 injections. Can you buy them? I have some left over from the last pen that I didn't finish because I was too sick but after they run out I'm not sure what to do. Any one have an answer? Thanks 😊

Saxendastarter · 30/04/2023 19:46

@Bloodylovecrisps I got a massive box of 100 needles sent to me with my order so I'm okay for needles. I'm not in the UK but I had a quick look and you can deffo order them online - or maybe you can just pop into a pharmacy and buy some you need to ask for "greenfine needles 32G 4mm" - they cost about a fiver for 100.

Quiet day today - out for brunch this morning with friends and then pottering round and reading.

Day 10

Breakfast:
1 Coffee with milk
Sugar free squash

Brunch:
Açai bowl with museli, raspberries and peanut butter ( Sugar bomb - I know)
Butterfly pea flower oat latte ( I looked like a hipster, it's blue and doesn't taste great - best thing going for it is the name Clitoria ternatea 😅)

Snacks:
Sugar Free Squash
Fizzy water

Supper:
Not hungry

Tired today - but think that's due to Friday evening more than the Saxenda - not that used to very late nights!

Saxenda alone won’t make you lose weight. I won’t give you a diet plan because that might make you get more anxious/stressed, feeling you are not doing it right. You don’t need that. Whatever you re eating now, just eat half a portion and walk briskly for an hour a day. You will see a difference and then you will find your own way. Best wishes.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 01/05/2023 01:42

My weigh in is Tuesday so I'll update tomorrow, but my stats for last week are:

Starting Weight 101.5 kg/ 15 stone 14 lb
Week 1 loss: 2.3 kg/ 5 lb
Week 2 loss: 1.2 kg 2 1/2 on
Current weight: 98 kg/ 15 stone 6 lb
Weight lost to date: 3.5 kg / 7 1/2 lb
Goal Weight 70 kg / 11 stone
Time On Saxenda 14 days

Weighed in kg so some rounding errors on stone/pounds.

I had a pretty ordinary week. My DSs are still on school holidays so I guess I'm on 'treat' mode, but I'm around 1/2 kg down for the week.

Constipation has been terrible so I bought some Metamucil and will be taking that regularly, it's just flavoured psyllium husks so something I could sprinkle over cereal etc, but I keep forgetting to....

My friend came over to watch the F1 Grand Prix yesterday evening and I prepared a nibble board with dips, cheese, meats, etc, but she brought over a paella she had made as well and I felt bad not having some, so I felt a bit overfull by the end of the night. But I know I ate a lot less than I would normally have done. What really affected me was the second alcoholic drink - I think my limit is one drink, the second one made me feel awful last night. Good thing I found out at home, rather than out and about!

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 01/05/2023 01:43

@BinnityBoo - whereabouts in Australia will you be visiting?

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 01/05/2023 02:15

Starting Weight 101.5 kg/ 15 stone 14 lb
Week 1 loss: 2.3 kg/ 5 lb
Week 2 loss: 1.2 kg 2 1/2 on
Current weight: 98 kg/ 15 stone 6 lb
Weight lost to date: 3.5 kg / 7 1/2 lb
Goal Weight:70 kg / 11 stone
Time On Saxenda: 14 days
Side effects: first week - headaches; both weeks cold feet, especially on the first/increased dose days; less tolerance for alcohol (tastes wrong after a glass); starting to feel the Saxenda injection - not the injection itself but the Saxenda as it goes in.

Whatever you re eating now, just eat half a portion and walk briskly for an hour a day. You will see a difference and then you will find your own way. Best wishes.

Thanks Lifeboat!

But the reason I'm taking Saxenda is that I have tried to just eat half and walk or up my activity - I can't stick to it alone and it doesn't work for me.

Up until 4 years ago I had a BMI of max 22 for all my adult life so I do know what healthy portions are and what decent levels of activity look like.

I don't need a diet plan or advice, I've had plenty. I just need the Saxenda to help me curb the ever present hunger that has set in these past three years. And the Saxenda is helping. As are the other lovely posters on this thread who are sharing my journey.

I speak only for myself, but the choice to turn to Saxenda was a long and though out one - and honestly telling me that it won't change things alone or that I'd need a diet plan but that might make me anxious of stressed isn't very helpful or kind. Even if it was meant in a nice way.

OP posts:
Saxendastarter · 01/05/2023 08:20

@OrderOfTheKookaburra The constipation is the worse - I hope it gets better for you - have you got a squatty potty or something to put your feet up on in the loo? I find it helps strain less. The alcohol ration is strange isn't it ? I'm just a lot less interested and I've always been quite a heavy drinker ...

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 01/05/2023 01:43

@BinnityBoo - whereabouts in Australia will you be visiting?

Mostly the gold coast, as that's where my partner's family live, mermaid waters/Burleigh heads area but will probably do a bit of travelling while we are there, we usually let DH's family plan it, we're thinking of popping down to Sydney or Melbourne. We usually go every year at the same time. I did notice your username, are you from Aus?

BinnityBoo · 01/05/2023 11:59

@Saxendastarter you definitely speak for me too in that this decision was not taken lightly. There are so many more factors involved than just 'move more, eat less'. That comment is the exact reason we haven't shared this with anyone and I am seeking support from other people on this thread who understand! I'm sure we've all tried everything under the sun, but I'm not going to explain myself or defend it. This was the right decision for me, as I am sure it was the rest of us here and that's all that matters.

Saxendastarter · 01/05/2023 12:20

@BinnityBoo Sounds like a lovely trip planned! @OrderOfTheKookaburra I actually went off to google what a Kookaburra is - sounds like an amazing bird.

Concerning Lifeboats' comment - in French we use the expression CQFD Ce qu'il fallait démontrer - I think the English equivalent is Q.E.D in maths at least. And it is exactly why I won't tell people I'm on Saxenda ... Of course I've tried eating less and moving more, I'm a somewhat literate, sensible adult... Comments like that really annoy me and I find them condescending.

OP posts:
OrderOfTheKookaburra · 01/05/2023 13:53

@BinnityBoo - yes, an Aussie but in Adelaide so very far away from where you're going!

Yes, quite agree about the eating less moving more comments. Like we somehow missed that memo...🙄

I had some Metamucil late afternoon and as a result barely ate dinner. Too full...!!

Weight in tomorrow morning and then I go up a dose to 2.4.

I'm hoping to get something resembling a beach body by the time summer hits in December. Not to mention the half a dozen family weddings in the next 2 years!! I want to buy what I call a "slinky malinki" dress, with sparkles! I'm tired of attempting to hide my size with my clothes, I want to have fun with clothes! I want to have more energy. I want to run around with my DSs in laser tag, or even get in a go kart with them, or climb a Go Ape style tree climbing course. I want to sit on a plane seat without touching both arm rests.

I picked up a 5 kg bag of potatoes, it was heavy. There's no way I could carry 6 bags of them, and yet that is how much excess weight my body is carrying, and I can't wait to get it OFF!

Saxendastarter · 01/05/2023 16:39

@OrderOfTheKookaburra I too want a slinky dress - I actually have lots from before all wrapped up in bags in my basement. I can't wait to feel less massive and not have to squash into the red chairs that have side handles in the office. ..
