Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

Hi everyone! I am on Rybelsus 3mg (Oral tablets) and since starting 5 weeks ago I have lost 10lbs in conjunction eating in a calorie deficit.

I originally bought it via private prescription, but then approached my GP and to my surprise, they have granted via NHS. I actually had a catch up call with the GP and is so happy with the progress, that I will be starting 7mg soon.

My goodness, this medication is a god send! For the first time in years, I do not obsess about food. I have never has this feeling in all my life. As someone who has struggled with disordered eating all of my life, this feels like freedom!

Beenalongwinter · 29/03/2023 15:35

How much would Ozempic cost via private prescription compared to say Manual or juniper please?

RichTeaCheddars · 29/03/2023 15:36

Juniper and Manuel are private prescription

asSASSin8 · 29/03/2023 15:40

I believe you can get it via private prescription through an online pharmacy for about £150 a month. I was going to continue if I didn't get it through the NHS. I didn't want to be tied into a subscription service with coaching.

@Beenalongwinter pm me if you want a code for £50 off at Juniper.

LovelaceBiggWither · 30/03/2023 05:45

Hey guys, this is supposed to be the thread which doesn't have discussion and requests for codes. There's another thread for that.

The dedicated codes thread unfortunately got closed by Mumsnet ( for advertising?). But seeing as this thread is supposed to be about people who are “a few months in” as per the thread title, it would be better to talk about codes on the thread for people who have just started using Ozempic.

@Prettybubblesintheair @Beenalongwinter

glucomannan does pretty much the same thing as psyllium husk, except psyllium is an awful lot cheaper. You can get it in capsules or by weight. I just put a tablespoon into a small glass, add a dash of sugar-free fruit squash, top up with water and chug it down. Psyllium doesn't have a taste so it just tastes like bitty squash. I've also added it to yogurt (water the yogurt down to counteract the the Psyllium thickening it) and smoothies.

HolibobsinApril · 30/03/2023 08:46

I'm really struggling with constipation this week. Been once in 2 weeks, I feel so bloated and not lost a lb!

Is that what people are using the pyslilliam husks for and the other product?

Any other tips?

Peridot1 · 30/03/2023 08:54

I think the initial recommendation for the glucomman was to help keep people feeling full as their jab wears off - I think people were advised to take it the few days before their next jab was due.

I get badly constipated too on Ozempic. Various things work. I take Fybogel sometimes. Which is basically a flavoured psyllium husk product. Or sennatabs. At times when it was worst I took Ducolax. Magnesium can help. Some people swear by prunes.

whatever you take make sure you drink lots of water too.

mumwheresmyribena · 30/03/2023 09:01

Psyllium does the same @Peridot1 That's how any bulking fibre works. It swells with water when you swallow it and that keeps you feeling full longer as well as helping transit through your gut.

Peridot1 · 30/03/2023 09:03

Yes I understand that @mumwheresmyribena but I think the initial chat about the glucomman came from people being recommended that in particular and it was to help them not feel hungry.

Yes that's how I read it too. But what I'm saying is that psyllium does the same thing, it fills you up. It's generally sold as a fibre supplement but to do that it bulks up in your tum and fills you up. glucomannan and psyllium both do the same things in the the same way. Am I misunderstand? It wouldn't be the first time 😄

I’ve searched the threads but can’t find a link to the properly fine needles, only 32 gauge ones. Does anyone know where I can find identical ones to the ones in the box please? Thank you.

Peridot1 · 30/03/2023 09:30

No it’s fine! I get it! Grin. I was just trying to explain where the initial recommendation came from. I know what they do. And have decided I should really use up the bag of psyllium husk I bought!

Oh thanks for letting me know! I didn't realise that happened.

Still we probably need to steer clear of doing codes if that was why the other thread was deleted.

nellyelloe · 30/03/2023 10:38

Wow, being on 2mg has helped no end as this week, I have lost 5lbs! So happy 😊 it's also taken me under a stone bracket (from 14st something to 13 st something) which feels brilliant 🤩

Quite the opposite, unless the the glucomman is taken with lots of water it has a tendency to cause constipation as can Ozempic which is why Manual say you can take it but you must ensure you drink extra water . I have tried the husk but I don't like the gritty bits in my Youghurt. My Glucomman has just arrived from Manual and I only ordered it yesterday. I will report back tomorrow.

mumwheresmyribena · 30/03/2023 10:46

👍

mumwheresmyribena · 30/03/2023 10:52

@Beenalongwinter I'm not a fan of it in yogurt either, I don't mind it in smoothies though, it gets lost because there's more liquid and the slight thickening is quite nice.
You can buy Psyllium capsules too, I'm not sure if they're cheaper than glucomman but it's assume they were. Maybe worth a look??? I've also capsuled my own psyllium before now, you can buy empty capsules from amazon.

Beenalongwinter · 30/03/2023 10:59

As the Manual Glucomman

Capsules are half price with the link I am going to use those and will order again if I get on with them . I am not sure I have the patience to make my own

mumwheresmyribena · 30/03/2023 11:03

I've been taking Ozempic since 17th Feb, I'm sure my 3rd 0.5 jab this coming Friday. Today is the first day I've seen all negatives in my Libra app. All of the figures are rolling time periods so I may have weighed more (or less) on other dates but this is one of my motivational challenges - to get and then keep all date ranges in negative ranges. I'm the grand scheme of things it's a tiny and mostly irrelevant thing but it makes me happy

Ozempic - For those of us a few months in
LovelaceBiggWither · 30/03/2023 11:05

I started in the last week of October, initially the weight just fell off. I stayed on .25 for as long as it was working due to the shortages here. Went up to .5 mid January and while my blood glucose remained awesome, the weightloss just stalled.

Went up to .75 and still no weightloss, I actually gained a kilo. I started 1mg on Sunday night and on Thursday morning had lost 1.4 kilos. Over all I have lost 10 kilos (22 pounds). I've got another 5 kilos to go and then will be happy to stay at that weight. I am on ozempic primarily for blood glucose control, the weight loss is a lovely side effect.
