Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

Hi has anyone found that .5 wasn't as effective and that 1 mg makes mpre difference again? Im really disheartened by my weeks on .5 . I found that I was slipping back into bad habits although the sulphur burps after an excess of popcorn mean thst cinema trips will never be the same again!

LovelaceBiggWither · 28/03/2023 03:19

Yes I found my weightloss dropped right off when I moved to .5 and wasn't much better on .75 (I went up slowly due to the shortages here). I started on 1 yesterday and had a truly miserable day. I'm down 600 grams overnight so am very hopeful the last 5 kilos are going to be gone.

My blood glucose has been excellent at every dose so I am very happy about that. I've found that I can eat fruit again with no spike which is amazing. I love fruit and have really missed it over the past couple of years.

MuMuMuuuum · 28/03/2023 06:53

@Karmakamelion I'm experiencing the same as you, on my second week of 0.5 and it's just not as effective as when I started 0.25.

I had read up that this is a common experience which is nothing to do with the dose but our bodies building tolerance to the drug. Despite expecting it I'm frustrated but optimistic once I get up to 1mg appetite suppression will be back.

There was a post a while ago about taking glucomannan in the couple of days before jabs are due to assist with the appetite suppression. I’ve found this really helpful but I accidentally bought a new one that contains chromium which apparently interacts with ozempic. Anyone have any experience of this?

That's interesting , the Manual
Version seems to contain chromium,

4 weeks in and 1 stone down, I'm absolutely over the moon.

I'm due to go up to 0.5 this week but Juniper are late sending my next pen, which is really annoying especially considering they are not the cheapest. I have a fair bit left in my original 0.25 pen and have bought additional needles so would I be ok to just take 2x 0.25 or is there a reason why I shouldn't?

Peridot1 · 28/03/2023 08:36

That will be fine @Lavendersquare. It’s 0.5 after all.

Thanks @Peridot1 that's what I thought so I'll just do that.

Have bought these needles, only £3.99 for 100. www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100

I started on 0.5 and found it worked well. I didn’t find 1mg to be as effective and switched to 0.5 twice a week instead. We all react differently.

What we need to remember is that Ozempic is a drug for diabetes. We are using it off label for weight loss. It is not all about appetite suppression. We still need to use some control. It’s easy to blame the drug not being as effective for us slipping back into bad habits but we need to take responsibility too. It’s not a magic wand. We need to look at how we are going to maintain any weight loss. That will involve control. We also need to be sensible about what we are eating. We need to change our bad habits that led us to being overweight. Ozempic helps but it can’t do it all for you. What we eat is as important as taking the drug and the appetite supression. So make sure you have healthy protein rich meals. Cut out sugary processed foods. If you are hungry eat. But make those calories count. Protein snacks. Hard boiled eggs are great to have in the fridge. An apple and a Babybel is a good snack. Oatcakes with peanut butter. Sometimes we just need a glass of water.

we also need to remember that we are using Ozempic in lower doses than Wegovy goes to. And they are the same drug. The lower doses are aimed at diabetics and work well for blood sugar control and some weight loss. Some people never need to take very high doses. But Wegovy is the version aimed at obesity. It’s used in higher doses.

I just ordered from Quick Meds for the first time yesterday and they sent me a few messages via WhatsApp. It’s reminded me I need to eat well. They recommend a higher protein, low carb, high fibre varied diet with a variety of fruit and veg. And they said I will need to engage some willpower to keep portion sizes down towards the end of the week. (I didn’t get any info like that from my previous supplier and I’ve been on it over a year!)

It’s very easy to expect Ozempic to do all the hard work but we need to work at it too. Especially if we don’t want to put all the weight back on afterwards.

polopolopolopoo · 28/03/2023 09:03

@Peridot1 💯 agree. I've used Oz to reframe my eating pattern and it's let me reduce carbs and sugar to nearly zero. I'm losing weight but v v slowly and I'm happy with that. I'm still on a low dose, prefer to rely more on habits changing than the drug itself. Hope that when I stop using this crutch that my new habits will stick.

leilani83 · 28/03/2023 11:55

Just about hitting two stone loss since I started...just over two stone left to goal weight! Have got over the plateau with another 1kg gone and plan to work harder to avoid any slip-ups. Tried on an ancient bikini and it's beginning to look OK 😁

MuMuMuuuum · 28/03/2023 12:25

That's amazing @leilani83 well done you!

I also saw that but I wonder if it’s not intended to be used while on ozempic?

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 28/03/2023 15:43

I've taken Chromium with Ozempic for the last 8 weeks with no ill effects

Prettybubblesintheair · 28/03/2023 16:52

That's interesting did you order the Manual one ? I might check with my coach and see what she says .

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 28/03/2023 17:14

@Beenalongwinter No not the Manual one. I was just taking it as a general supplement anyway and didn't stop when I started Ozempic. It's had no noticeable affects on my blood sugar or anything.

ErmineAndPearls · 28/03/2023 19:52

Thanks to @Twiglets1 and @Prettybubblesintheair for sympathising with my gross side effects. I’ve now emerged from three days of “morning sickness”. Def not pregnant, but that was what it felt like! I just came back to say that even when I’m not feeling awful, the appetite suppression that I’m getting is amazing. I’m deep in the menopause and before this I was ravenous all the time. I feel like I‘ve been freed from that, I’m losing weight slowly and somehow I feel like I’m getting my dignity back. (Not when I’m hugging the toilet, obvs). Now I just need to build up some resistance but yes, I will cut down my dose if I have to.

Prettybubblesintheair · 28/03/2023 21:30

I asked manual using the messaging app where you can speak to a clinician and they confirmed you can take their glucomannan with chromium.

I'm interested in the folks that are injecting twice a week. Can anyone clarify their thinking on this for me?

RichTeaCheddars · 29/03/2023 14:46

Not sure I fully understand but the coach in the Manual group chat said this about splitting doses:
"Ozempic has a half life of 7 days - this means that after 7 days since your injection, there is still half the amount of the injected medication in your system. If you split the dose, taking successive injections that are closer than 7 days apart, you will end up overdosing in time so please don't split the dose. "

Peridot1 · 29/03/2023 15:00

Interesting @RichTeaCheddars. I started doing it following advice in a FB group I was in which was run by the supplier I got Ozempic from at the time. One of their staff members did it too.
