Ozempic - For those of us a few months in

Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

I've been on ozempic with Myjuniper since January. I have only lost a stone but am still very overweight (probably about 7 stone overweight). I didn't really start losing until I went up to 1ml but now it's really working for me.

I have 1 dose of my current pen left and logged into myjuniper account this morning and it says 0 refills left.

Does anyone know if myjuniper stop shipping to you at 6 months or what will happen?

Has anyone had the side effects come on randomly after you've been on the same dose for a while?

I've now taken 6 doses of 0.25 (didn't want to go up to 0.5 when away) and yesterday I got the sulphur burps and d&v. It could be I've eaten something dodgy or the side effects? I've otherwise been absolutely fine since starting it 5 weeks ago...

I would say it is the side effects. I had the same ones on 0.25mg though mine started around the 3 week mark.
The general advice is to stay on the lower dose for a while if your body is struggling to adapt to the drug.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 30/05/2023 08:36

@Twiglets1 oh no, I thought it was all going so well 😭

MiniCooperLover · 30/05/2023 08:52

SwimmingFree, I didn't think so, have you sent them an email to query it with them? When would you normally receive your next pen?

Twiglets1 · 30/05/2023 08:52

Most people who get side effects seem to be able to get through them and out the other side so hopefully they won’t last long or be too bad.
In the meantime, I would keep your dose low & look after yourself.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 30/05/2023 09:00

I'm feeling fine now, and am on holiday at an all-inclusive resort so thought it could be food poisoning... I took my latest dose on Friday so the vomiting etc was a few days later.

Oigetoffmylawn · 30/05/2023 09:08

@TheWayOfTheWorld yeah I had side effects come on rapidly and for no food reason after I'd been fine for several weeks. It was really unpleasant and I contemplated giving up. But I didn't and now I'm on my 2nd week of 1mg, I just kept at a lower dose for longer.

Oigetoffmylawn · 30/05/2023 09:08

*no good

TheWayOfTheWorld · 30/05/2023 09:27

Interesting. Totally hit me by surprise as have been fine. I was going to go up to my prescribed 0.5 dose on Friday (2 weeks later) but maybe will see how the next few days pan out.

My son came into our hotel room and asked why it smelled of eggs 🤣😭

WhyDoesItAlways · 30/05/2023 10:49

That happened to me after 4 weeks on 0.25 and 8 weeks at 0.5 I got d&v and sulphur burps 3 days after a dose. I have only vomited a handful of times in my life so was very surprised but I did feel kind of light and empty afterwards. I've had no side effects except a bit of constipation so I sort of feel like maybe my digestive system slowed down a bit too much and stuff just needed to come out. Bumper weight loss at the end of the week though and no recurrence of the side effects this week so fingers crossed it was a blip.

I've just had a 1mg refill dispatched from juniper today so they seem to have stock. I would send them an email to query. Maybe they just need to do a review to make sure it's still working for you.

SwimmingFree · 30/05/2023 13:52

Thanks @WhyDoesItAlways and @MiniCooperLover

I've emailed them, they replied to say I need to do a 6 month review and to log in to my account but when I do there's no link for the review. I've emailed them back. Fingers crossed!

Manual have been messing me around- no 1mg pens so keeping me at 0.5mg then said they may not be able to give me any ozempic at all and will switch me to Rybelus. I’m not impressed so am looking for another supplier.

You may be lucky to get any. DH is on Rybulsus and he's doing really well on it.

Ugh my blood glucose is going way too low on 1.25. Not quite sure what to do--increase carbs and then vomit? Eat more altogether and gain?

Talking to GP tomorrow so hope she has some ideas. I might cut back metformin today and see if that helps.

I hope you weren’t serious about the idea of eating more carbs & than vomit?

Talk to your GP, maybe they will have some dietary advice. Maybe reduce Ozempic back down to 1mg to see if that helps.

LovelaceBiggWither · 31/05/2023 07:59

LOL I am vomiting on ozempic anyway and hitting carbs is a risk of vomiting for me. 4th hypo episode in 12 hours, this is not fun.

As I said I am talking to my GP tomorrow so will make a plan then. Not due to do my injection until Sunday.

Twiglets1 · 31/05/2023 08:15

Ah ok. I was vomiting on Ozempic too, from about week 3 onwards.

summerlovingvibes · 31/05/2023 08:40

Has anyone had a 0.5mg pen before with a bit left in at the end after all 4 doses? Is it enough for another dose? I have spare needles, but not sure whether to keep it or chuck.

SarahC50 · 31/05/2023 09:22

Yes to side effects with avengence. Week8 flattened nausea and fatigue,my coach says it's because it has slowly built up in my system uurgh.
Going to stay on the 0.5mg rather than move up to 1mg I am disappointed as my losses have slowed but I couldn't stomach more.

Yes to the saggy neck too. Lost just over a stone I'm 51 and my neck has gone really slack and wrinkly uuurgh x

WhyDoesItAlways · 31/05/2023 09:46

Just had an email from juniper to say they are raising their price to £225 from next month. I'm going to pause as I have been taking a 0.5 dose from a 1mg pen so I have plenty but might have to switch provider again.

I just had this too, hoping e.g. quickmeds don’t increase too!

at least it gives me more motivation to eat well and work out more to get off faster!!!

craftykamo · 31/05/2023 09:57

Just had the message and must admit I'm worried now. The medicine is costing them more than they're charging? How is that sustainable for a business?

MulticolourTriangles · 31/05/2023 10:02

I've had the same message too, I'm literally only just due my second pen this week. I can budget for this increase but if it goes up again then I won't be able to carry on. It's very worrying.

Circa1840 · 31/05/2023 10:03

I got the price increase message too. I'm sticking with them so I know its definitely going to be sent. As @Andrasa says, it will hopefully motivate me to lose the weight quicker. I am sure it will only go up more and more.
