Ozempic - For those of us a few months in

Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

Great result @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa. And great you are doing so well on 0.5.

MuMuMuuuum · 14/05/2023 09:38

Fantastic results @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa well done!

CheetahCheetah · 14/05/2023 11:38

All the shortages are very worrying. Has anyone had any difficulty getting it from Juniper recently (as an existing customer)?

I am nearly at a healthy BMI but finding the last bit very hard to shift. Would ideally like to get to BMI 22ish. I started at BMI 37.

I’m now considering trying to wean off my Ozempic and signing up to Zoe alongside it to support maintenance.

Peridot1 · 14/05/2023 11:52

Wow @CheetahCheetah. That’s an amazing result. How long have you been on Ozempic?

The shortages are worrying. For weaning down you could maybe switch to the tablets?

I think signing up to Zoe is a great idea too and something I’m thinking about too.

Just an FYI I managed to get 1mg from Quick Meds yesterday. Definitely worth keeping trying to get it there, they seem to have occasional deliveries

Teddypops · 14/05/2023 18:23

Quick meds have stock but don't know how long for.

Twilightstarbright · 14/05/2023 18:55

@SquirrelSoShiny i have an autoimmune disease and it’s been great for me so far.

Twilightstarbright · 14/05/2023 19:03

@Teddypops thank you, I’ve just ordered a 1mg pen so feel much less anxious about running out in two weeks.

Dressshelp · 14/05/2023 20:21

I’m 9 weeks in but had 2 weeks off while I was on holiday, have lost 12lbs so far which I know doesn’t compare to some of you guys, but I’m happy with the steady rate.

I’ve got a subscription with Juniper but just panicked and bought a ‘spare’ pen from quick meds. I’m on 0.5 for the last 2 weeks and (touch wood!) have been feeling fab on It. I had a really rough few weeks at 0.25 and have been terrified of it returning, so utterly thrilled to not be feeling crap.

HolidayHappy123 · 15/05/2023 09:55

Quick question: when using the 0.25 pen to ‘squeeze’ 2 x 0.5 extra doses out, do you just inject 2 x 0.25 each time or does the pen go to 0.5 if you turn it further?

Just taken my third dose of 0.25. No real side effects. Lost 7lbs in week 1, nothing last week but I did have a night out on Friday involving a bottle of wine and a kebab, followed by a spa weekend involving cocktails and some big meals, so at least I didn’t gain weight.

I felt the effect had tailed off by the end of the week so I’m trying to transition the day I inject to mid-week to get more benefit at the weekend. So I will do next week’s jab on Monday night, then the next one Tuesday morning etc. Has anyone go a view of which days they get optimal benefit after the jab? I’m thinking maybe days 3 and 4, so doing the jab on a Wednesday would be optimal.

mumwheresmyribena · 15/05/2023 11:41

@HolidayHappy123 I don't think I notice much difference, but on the 6th & 7th day I try to be rigorous about taking my psyllium, taking an extra desert spoon in the afternoon if I'm home and not actively occupied. I also try to be particularly mindful of what I'm eating (not that I'm very good at it. I've never been much of an alcohol drinker so it hasn't made much difference for me there - It's never taken much effort to go for months without it.
I take mine late on Friday evening, the rationale for that was that it leaves Friday evening as the 7th day so any side-effects could have been slept off, I don't actually get any side-effects but don't see any need to change. I think I may have changed to Fri if I'd started taking it in Monday though (not sure that makes sense!)

Prettybubblesintheair · 15/05/2023 13:31

Has anyone asked for a copy of their private prescription? I’ve asked juniper for mine as I spoke to a local pharmacist who said I might be able to buy through them if I can show them my prescription!

That's interesting, please let us know how you get on.

GreenGarlic · 15/05/2023 17:36

Can anyone give me a recommendation for companies that ship to Rep. of Ireland? Virtual Slimming Clinic (who sold me my last few pens) seem to have stopped. Thank you.

Sameiam · 15/05/2023 17:50

Not sure if it’s related to ozempic or not but took my first dose of 1mg last night and was starving at lunch and then pretty much fell asleep at my desk this afternoon (despite good night’s sleep). Not sure if it’s just bad luck and I’ve caught something, also jeans are feeling a bit tighter today so must be a bit bloated. Fingers crossed it settles down, otherwise I’ll probably drop back to 0.5 next weekend

As it builds up in your system you may find you get the effects quicker. I inject on Friday afternoon and Saturday and Sunday I can barely eat.

Prettybubblesintheair · 15/05/2023 18:34

So they sent me a copy of my private prescription but the pharmacy also require a hard copy, I’ve asked them and said it’s for taking abroad so we shall see!

I injected this morning and I’ve been bloody starving all day 😬

But you're only on 0.25

MiniCooperLover · 16/05/2023 08:02

I do sometimes get the feeling of being starving (am on 1 and have been for a couple of weeks now), usually a small snack like a boiled egg or some protein sorts me. I'm not overly satisfied after it, but the starving feeling is under control. Hunger feelings aren't going to just go away, but they can be dealt with on a smaller scale than I would have previously.

Peridot1 · 16/05/2023 08:23

@HolidayHappy123 - I found if I have a carby breakfast I’m hungrier all day. Make sure your breakfast is protein heavy.

LittleDitto · 16/05/2023 09:56

Does anyone else feel constantly exhausted on this?

I find I'm "properly hungry" on ozempic. What I mean by that, is that I don't just feel hungry, I show the signs of hunger - bad breath, low blood sugar, slightly faint, slight nausea from stomach juices. Not to the point of being unwell, just that I absolutely need to eat breakfast now! It's helped me distinguish head hunger and body hunger. I still maintain that pre ozempic I was feeling genuinely hungry (rather than eating when not hungry) but I suspect that it's because my hormones and chemical signals weren't in optimal health.

I did at first. It wore off.

mumwheresmyribena · 16/05/2023 11:39

@Peridot1 That's me too. I can't have carbs more than around 20gm of blueberries for my 1st meal. If I do, I get hungry and eat much more through the day. It's a blood sugar thing and regulating that is the main way that Ozempic works. @HolidayHappy123 if I remember correctly you're not far enough along for this part of Ozempic to kick in yet. Hang on in there, reduce carbs if you can to tamp down the hunger (you may have done that sorry if you have).
