Hi all, thought I would create a designated space outside of the newbie zone for those of us who are in it for the long haul and are a few doses, stone, months down the road.

Another interesting article about Ozempic Vs the traditional weight loss industry The $76 Billion Diet Industry Asks: What to Do About Ozempic?

It's behind a paywall, try reader mode in your browser or https://archive.org/web

Can you possibly screenshot please , I am unable to get past the paywall.

@Mydoghealsmyheart The Zoe podcast about Ozempic goes into this in some detail. It's one or two quite specific cancers that if you have a family history may be affected rather than "cancer" in general.
Zoe Ozempic Podcast
There's also a large and prominant footer on the Ozempic website about the contraindications.

Thanks for this information, I’ll have a read. How have you got on with this medication? Also, where can you purchase it from? I’ve had a look at Superdrug, Boots and Lloyds and they all say that it’s not available from them yet but should be “soon”.

Beenalongwinter · 11/04/2023 21:00

Mydoghealsmyheart · 11/04/2023 17:19

Is there a risk of cancer by taking Ozempic? I thought I’d read it somewhere and, if true, it makes me so worried about taking this medication.
I am truly amazed though by the success stories I’ve been reading here. Well done.

manual.co/r/U-O6x8se14VL

Manual looks like a site for men but lots of ladies use it, go to weight loss assessment and answer all the questions you should eventually be offered Ozempic .25 the starter dose.

Manual ask for your Dr if you prefer not to give details they will ask for a torso photo instead .

mumwheresmyribena · 11/04/2023 21:03

I've got in fine with it, I posted on this thread the other day about my experience. The companies you've mentioned are taking about Wegovy which is actually the same drug but rebranded for weightloss, it's been approved in the UK but not available yet. Most people here are taking Ozempic which is the version that's actually approved for type 2 diabetics but sold off-label for weightloss. As I said they're both the same drug but labelled differently. There are many suppliers, I use Quickmeds, but Manual, My Juniper and ukmeds are others. Take a look at the "started taking Ozempic last night" threads. Please, please please do some research about what to expect, how it works and what you need to do to get the most out of it before starting it

I'm still pretty new but not looking for a code, hope it's ok if i post here! I just had my 4th injection. I lost no weight at all weeks 1 and 2, then 4 lbs last week, which surprised me! I am eating relatively normally, but just not snacking much and smaller meals for sure just feeling satisfied. Now when I'm full I really don't want another bite, even if I like the taste, which previously I would continue past the point of fullness if I was enjoying something. This really makes me feel like it is helping rewire my thoughts!
I had terrible fatigue the first two weeks but it seems to be fading now, and bad heartburn one night, but otherwise quite mild symptoms. I did start taking b12. Really encouraging to read all your stories! I like the r/semaglutide practice of sharing your 'stats' but I feel too shy... I will try to work up to it.

mumwheresmyribena · 12/04/2023 00:39

@KaleFairy Yes! I really do feel that the "rewiring" is the thing that makes the difference. I get hungry and I eat, but I seem to be able to tell when the hunger cues matter and when they don't. "Ohh I'm peckish, fine it's dinner time in an hour" rather than "Ohh I'm peckish, I need some thing now". It's not appetite suppression, it's appetite discrimination.

I take B12 too and find it really helps.

Amazonmulu · 12/04/2023 07:11

Has anyone done the Zoe tests while on Ozempic? I'm told my Zoe tests will ship soon but I'm not sure if I can do them while I'm taking Ozempic. I've contacted Zoe but no reply yet. I thought I'd ask here as some people may be in the same boat.

No pressure to share your stats unless you feel you want to later. Glad it’s all going ok for you so far 😀

Peridot1 · 12/04/2023 07:45

Welcome @KaleFairy! As @Twiglets1 says no pressure to share stats. Well done on your loss that’s great. You are a perfect example of how the drug works for some - it has a gradual effect building up in your system and although you feel some changes with appetite you don’t necessarily lose weight straight away.

Can I ask why you and @mumwheresmyribena take B12? I haven’t seen that recommended anywhere in relation to Ozempic or weight loss I don’t think.

@Amazonmulu - I’m interested in doing the Zoe Nutrition tests too but was going to wait a while. I thought it would be helpful as I go forward once I get to my goal. Be interested to see what they say. Obviously the Ozempic would affect your blood sugars so the CGM would not necessarily be a true reflection of your results.

Amazonmulu · 12/04/2023 08:04

@Peridot1 that's what I was thinking too. My next dose is due today so I'm hoping Zoe get back to me soon so I can decide what to do.

mumwheresmyribena · 12/04/2023 08:55

@Peridot1 B12 is often recommended for fatigue and as fatigue can be a side-effect of Ozempic I got some to try and forestall it before I started taking Oz. I bought ginger tablets and tums too but haven't needed them 😂 As a supplement B12 is considered to have such low toxicity that there's no maximum dose, so other than cost there was no real reason not to take it. I now have enough to last 3 months, once they're finished I won't buy more unless I get fatigued more than I do while taking them

Re Zoe, @Peridot1 & @Amazonmulu I'm very interested in the Zoe Nutrition thing too. My thinking is similar to yours, the slower gut transit would probably throw the results too. It will be interesting to see what they say

mumwheresmyribena · 12/04/2023 09:54

@Beenalongwinter I can't really screenshot the article's too long. I posted a link to a non-paywalled version but it's been quarantined by Mumsnet. So copy the link, visit archive dot ph and paste it in there 🙂

I'm interested in the zoe tests. I did the Manual blood test as i was given a 50% off link but they are geared towards men so zoe will be better . My testosterone and vitamin d were low.

Peridot1 · 12/04/2023 10:47

Thanks so much for the link to that article @mumwheresmyribena. Really interesting. Especially how the different weight loss companies are thinking of the drugs. Especially Weight Watchers. And Noom. A lady who works for the supplier I used for buying Ozempic lost 7 stone by taking Ozempic and going to Slimming World. I can see that using Ozempic along with a structured weight loss programme could really help people. Also interesting the backlash that WW got from some people. I think the future of obesity treatment and weight control will look very different.

mumwheresmyribena · 12/04/2023 11:06

I think you're right @Peridot1 Interesting about taking Ozempic & doing slimming world etc. I've never been a "joiner", so wouldn't suit me but I'm very enthusiastic about using Ozempic to change eating and health habits. I was reading a piece the other day about foods that could also act like Semaglutides, from memory they were not dissimilar to the low carb, high protein we're supposed to eat on Ozempic. I'll see if I can find it again. I've got far too much time on my hands atm, I'm confined to barracks because I have covid 😅

Peridot1 · 12/04/2023 11:40

@mumwheresmyribena - rubbish about covid. Hope you are not feeling too bad. The article about foods sounds interesting too if you find it again. I’ll have a Google myself. I think low carb and high protein is definitely how we should be eating. It tends to also naturally lead to an avoidance of overly processed foods particularly those addictive foods that are deliberately produced with the combination of sugar to fat that makes them addictive and even more so with the addition of certain additives. The food industry has a lot to answer to.

mumwheresmyribena · 12/04/2023 11:52

@Peridot1 Link to article about food with similar effects to GLP-1 meds. Science Alert Ozempic Is a Weight-Loss Sensation, But These Foods Give The Same Effect

If you're insomniac and looking for a very dense, boring, but scholarly article about the same thing try Improvement of Glucose Tolerance by Food Factors Having Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Releasing Activity it's really heavy going but ultimately quite interesting and supports what's most of us are saying and eating on ozempic. Even more interesting for @Beenalongwinter and "her" glucomannan (and me with psyllium husk) is the part about dietary fibers (2.3 Other Factors) and how they also work on GLP-1 secretion. It would appear that it's not only the fibre in your tum and the feeling of fullness that contributes towards the feeling of satiety, the fibre stimulates GLP-1!

You've probably heard about the medication Ozempic, used to manage type 2 diabetes and as a weight-loss drug.

Thanks @mumwheresmyribena. I’ll have a read. Looks really interesting. Must start using the psyllium husk in my cupboard more often!

I am starting to feel more informed, really interesting links there, thank you for sharing.
While it's not completely easy on Ozempic it is most definitely possible to lose large amounts of weight and it is helpful to have a greater understanding of how Ozempic works.

mumwheresmyribena · 12/04/2023 12:01

Thank you for asking@Peridot1. It's my 3rd Covid day. It isn't too bad really, I just feel like I've been to a 3 day rave, I'm utterly and totally exhausted. But I have no other symptoms at all so I think I've got off quite lightly 🙂

Prettybubblesintheair · 12/04/2023 13:07

Anyone heard any wegovy news recently? They were saying April but no news yet I don’t think…

LovelaceBiggWither · 13/04/2023 05:25

We were supposed to have supply restored to normal by April here in Aust but we are still waiting.

I've now been on ozempic for 6 months and have lost 12 kilos/24.4 pounds. 3 more kilos and I am at my goal weight. Just fished out my winter clothes and lots of them are too big. In addition my blood glucose is perfect.

Makes up for gastro effects I endured last night :/
