I'm really out of shape.
I need to lose 3 stone.
I keep eating too much & failing to exercise.
I am going to start here & post progress if anyone fancies joining me?

Meeeeeee!
I need to also lose 3 stone.
I've been walking 5-10km every day for the last 2 weeks, and drinking loads of water but I need to start focusing on my diet now, it's pretty shocking.

So I'm with you! Let's do this!

WhoWants2Know · 14/03/2023 21:20

I'm the reverse- a few days into a diet but I need to start getting some more exercise! I'm aiming for 2-2.5 stone initially and then I'll see how I feel

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2023 21:26

Me, I started the year wanting to lose 23lbs and I’ve just had such a rubbish year. I’m a very keen exerciser but I’ve just totally lost my mojo and I just eat too much food. I’ve started a new job wfh and this means i should have time to focus on some of the better habits- planning my meals, getting my steps in, toning and yoga, drinking 2l water. I’m feeling really crap right now, so unhealthy and unfit.
someond pointed out its now 10 weeks til whitsun holiday which was originally my 23lb goal, and I really need to knuckle down and get on with it.

anxiousatnight · 14/03/2023 21:37

I'm in. 1.5 stone to loose, maybe 2. Don't mind exercise but I need to stop shovelling crap into my mouth!!!

HelloDaisy · 15/03/2023 06:59

I’ll join you all! I’ve got 1.5 stone to lose, preferably by the end of May.

I’m on my feet all day at work etc so usually do 10k steps each day but eat far too much crap which needs to stop.

Hoping this will give me the motivation to stop shovelling it all in!

mamatoTails · 15/03/2023 08:06

Hope everyone has a good day.
I struggled in the mid- late afternoon, once the kids get home. I find i pick.
Probably not even hungry at that time, but have got in the habit of opening the cupboards and picking!
Off to fill my water bottle, got a poorly DD home so not sure I'll get my steps in. Will do housework and maybe a workout on YouTube.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/03/2023 08:20

I just weighed myself, I’d been ignoring /putting off to be honest, 163.5lbs. I started the year in 169 so what’s that…. 5.5lbs down? Not great, at the end of Jan I’d lost 9 😂

so…. I went out for an icy run and now getting ready to start work, it’s hard getting used to WFH. Lunch will be salad, feta, tomato soup. For dinner I have pork steak and veg. I’m going to attempt a sort of fast800 (ish) as I know that’s worked for me in the past. I just need to get my head in the right place.

Wow that's a fabulous start!
Am going to take my dog out for a 5-6k in a minute. After my coffee ☕️🐾

I work from home too and have no excuse! Imagine all the extra time we have from not commuting! Let's use at least one of those hours to exercise today 🙌🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

@MintTeaAndChocolate I have christened it “the golden hour”. After years of working in school admin, at my desk at 7.15 am, our lifestyle/childcare is already set up to be really conducive to me getting stuff done in the mornings. Little ds goes to a childminder at 7.40 and big ds walks to school independently. So the hour (and a quarter?!) is mine all mine! I have decided I will try to have 30 minutes exercise and 30 minutes domestic stuff - result… well I’ll be skinny with an immaculate house in no time, right? 😂

How's everyone's day going?
Heading in to my danger hours!
So far so good, but i am out for dinner with friends tonight.

MintTeaAndChocolate · 15/03/2023 19:37

I've eaten a veggie sausage sandwich, tea, coffee, and some yogurt.
Aiming for a veggie cauliflower cheese for tea.
Exercise was just a 1hr dog walk. Aiming to get to the pool tomorrow!

Diet wise, today has been pretty good. I'm under my calorie goal and don't feel like I need to go rummaging in the cupboards.

Exercise is not going brilliantly. I'm knackered to my bones by the time I get home from work. But I found out today that my vitamin D is low. I have a prescription to build it back up over the next 7 weeks, so hopefully that will help with the energy 🤞

HelloDaisy · 15/03/2023 21:15

Have had a fairly good day as feel more motivated. I managed to resist eating loads of rubbish and now feel better in the evening watching tv as not bloated! Funny that I would never admit that to anyone irl but it’s a relief to say it on here..

MintTeaAndChocolate · 15/03/2023 21:19

Definitely exercising tomorrow. My FACE is looking fat today! 🙈🙈🙈

Top tip: if you were thinking about beating your cravings by chewing a load of sugar free gum...
Don't!

Why not? Is it due to being a laxative?

Did it help though as I have just bought some!

WhoWants2Know · 16/03/2023 07:32

It helped while I was chewing it, but then I spent ages in the loo.

mamatoTails · 16/03/2023 09:09

Morning, how did yesterday go for everyone?
Pretty good here, and planning another good day today! Running out of food though as need to do a food shop tomorrow.
Have a poorly DD so only managed a quick 3km walk this morning.

Foxymoxy68 · 16/03/2023 11:06

Nothing seemed to be working for me so I've decided to try a low carb, high protein, high(ish) fat regime and tracking it on Nutracheck. Working well so far-I've lost 5lb in my first week. I was 12 stone 2 and I'm now 11 stone 11. Trying to keep my carbs under 100g and being so careful not to eat fruit or veg which is high in carbs, with lots of lean meat, fish, nuts and full fat Greek yogurt. I've also had a few glasses of wine but been sure to add those to Nutracheck too and keep within my calorie allowance of about 1400 a day. Dry white wine is low in carbs. I'm coeliac and gluten free bread is crap so it's easy to resist!!!
Good luck everyone!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2023 06:24

So for the last two days (and will continue today) I’ve been tracking my food a bit differently. I’ve really restricted starchy carbs for a start, no bread/pasta/rice etc. Then for my food, I’ve used my nutracheck app but instead of adding breakfast/lunch/dinner etc, I’ve used the different meal slots to track fats/protein, veg, fruit, and extras (I suppose like what the old slimming world would describe as Syns- eg some sweet chilli sauce , or a yoghurt etc) - it’s helped me in two ways, one I can see much more clearly what my diet actually is and where my calories are going (eg. I don’t eat nearly enough veg), and 2) it’s made me actively try to address that balance. I was aiming for 800 calories worth of meat and fat and then the rest as fruit and veg, with a couple of extras being realistic and necessary for enjoyment. After doing this for 2 days I’ve lost 4lbs 😱- yes, I know that’s mostly water, but the water does have to go somewhere doesn’t it? I did have a red wine last night as well.

So I will continue this today. I’m going out for a run with my friend (I’ve managed a 5 day workout streak so far, either a run or a class every day), and then my food will be:
— a very light breakfast of something protein after running,
— lunch will be leftover crispy mince stir fry with sweet chilli sauce (was dinner last night but dh didn’t eat it so I’m going to have it again!) and then for dinner I have an Asda chicken Schwarma kit which I’ll have with salad. I don’t think I’ll drink tonight as I feel quite headachey after wine yesterday.

I’ve also definitely been drinking more water, I have a 1.5l bottle and yesterday I refilled it as well so nearly 3l drunk.

I’d love to say I feel amazing and energised, but I don’t- I feel tired, a bit hungover, it’s been a very very long week, and I feel quite flat emotionally- but it’s been a rollercoaster few weeks anyway with our building work coming to a finish and starting a new job, and last week I was quite unwell with my dental issues which have carried on into this week.

I will be very very glad for this week to be over!
