So for the last two days (and will continue today) I’ve been tracking my food a bit differently. I’ve really restricted starchy carbs for a start, no bread/pasta/rice etc. Then for my food, I’ve used my nutracheck app but instead of adding breakfast/lunch/dinner etc, I’ve used the different meal slots to track fats/protein, veg, fruit, and extras (I suppose like what the old slimming world would describe as Syns- eg some sweet chilli sauce , or a yoghurt etc) - it’s helped me in two ways, one I can see much more clearly what my diet actually is and where my calories are going (eg. I don’t eat nearly enough veg), and 2) it’s made me actively try to address that balance. I was aiming for 800 calories worth of meat and fat and then the rest as fruit and veg, with a couple of extras being realistic and necessary for enjoyment. After doing this for 2 days I’ve lost 4lbs 😱- yes, I know that’s mostly water, but the water does have to go somewhere doesn’t it? I did have a red wine last night as well.
So I will continue this today. I’m going out for a run with my friend (I’ve managed a 5 day workout streak so far, either a run or a class every day), and then my food will be:
— a very light breakfast of something protein after running,
— lunch will be leftover crispy mince stir fry with sweet chilli sauce (was dinner last night but dh didn’t eat it so I’m going to have it again!) and then for dinner I have an Asda chicken Schwarma kit which I’ll have with salad. I don’t think I’ll drink tonight as I feel quite headachey after wine yesterday.
I’ve also definitely been drinking more water, I have a 1.5l bottle and yesterday I refilled it as well so nearly 3l drunk.
I’d love to say I feel amazing and energised, but I don’t- I feel tired, a bit hungover, it’s been a very very long week, and I feel quite flat emotionally- but it’s been a rollercoaster few weeks anyway with our building work coming to a finish and starting a new job, and last week I was quite unwell with my dental issues which have carried on into this week.
I will be very very glad for this week to be over!
