“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

@FfeminyddCymraeg you need to tell your GP about the pain because ozempic can inflame your pancreas and cause gallbladder problems. See attached from ozempic website.

Sorry this one is better about the gallbladder so you don't have to click on it

It's not come out right so you'll still have to open the photo to read it properly, sorry.

FfeminyddCymraeg · 31/03/2023 07:17

@AlternativelyWired I selected the option to notify my GP but it went away after Buscopan. Think I’d eaten a bit too much fruit on an otherwise empty stomach to be honest 🙈 so I’ll see how it goes.

The sickness is the most prevalent thing though - woke up this morning and it’s still there.

AlternativelyWired · 31/03/2023 07:21

I mean you need to contact your GP today and tell you're on ozempic and have upper abdominal pain. Nothing to do with what box you ticked. Buscopan will help but it's not dealing with whatever is causing the issue and you need to see your GP. Nausea is common but the pain can be a sign of an inflamed pancreas or gallbladder problems both of which will land you in hospital in a lot of pain so best to address this today.

Oh right! Really?? any thoughts on what they would do?

I shall try and get an appointment in that case…😬

Sameiam · 31/03/2023 08:03

Almost at the end of week two and I think I’m definitely constipated. Off to boots later for tablets and fibre supplements. Which ones did people find worked best for them?

Peridot1 · 31/03/2023 08:03

@AllllTheQuestions - like @Athena51 I’ve been on it from when there weren’t many suppliers and I too was advised to start on 0.5 for the same reason. However I do agree with @Twiglets1 that you may be better starting on the lower dose. My theory as to why suppliers are recommending starting on 0.5 is not that they’ve run out of 0.25 pens but more to do with the general shortages that have happened! Good luck with it anyway.

@FfeminyddCymraeg - I hope you manage to see a doctor or at least speak to one. How long have you been taking Ozempic and what dose? Gall bladder pain is definitely something to get checked out as it’s a definite warning in the literature as @AlternativelyWired says. And I may be mistaken but I seem to remember she has a medical background. So is not trying to panic you unnecessarily.

Peridot1 · 31/03/2023 08:06

@Sameiam - I’ve tried a lot. They all work to an extent. I usually take Sennacot. And Fybogel. Drink lots of water too. Oh just remembered a pharmacist in Boots recommended Movicol when I told her why I was constipated.

Ozempicisworking · 31/03/2023 08:17

I am a week in and over the moon to be 5 llbs down! Just 7 days on. I ordered .25 from Manual using a code someone kindly posted , can I just cancel and order my next pen elsewhere? the starting price was great and the support is helpful , I am ok for a couple more weeks but I want to have a new order in the pipeline.
very little interest in food and slight nausea but no other side effects.

FfeminyddCymraeg · 31/03/2023 08:17

@Peridot1 I only started the 0.25 on Wednesday before bed so hoping it’s just too much pineapple or my usual acid reflux. Currently on hold trying to get an appt 🤞

Peridot1 · 31/03/2023 08:24

@FfeminyddCymraeg - it’s unlikely to be serious really at such a low dose and recently started but it’s still worth checking I think. Did it feel like your usual acid reflux? Pineapple is quite acidic I think so maybe not best idea to eat at the moment.

thanks! I was looking at the fybogel, I like that they do the chewable ones not just sachets, I’m not a fan of drinking water with anything in it.

tempted to also get some of those sugar free sweets that I always had to balance carefully since they’re such a laxative effect.

SOWK · 31/03/2023 09:38

End of week 2 and I’ve lost 2.25lbs this week, so not a load but better than nothing. Lost 6.75 lbs in total.

Has anyone else found that they are very cold on day 2 and 3 after the injection?

SOWK · 31/03/2023 09:52

Sorry, another question - how do we dispose of the sharps bin when it is full?

Sameiam · 31/03/2023 09:55

Sorry, another question - how do we dispose of the sharps bin when it is full?

Where we lived before you could get a collection from the council, but here we have to take them to the gp. Don’t know if they will take them for private medication, my partner has type 1 diabetes so his are covered and I’m shoving mine in the same bin.

he did love the tiny sharps bin I got though since it means he now has a travel one.

Hello,

As the thread title says "I started Ozempic last night" 😅 and feeling good and motivated today - and not hungry but suspect that is psychological at this point (and don't care that it is!). I was wondering how people arrange their diet/food intake on Ozempic and what seems to be most effective? I really want to get into good habits so that when I stop the injections I can continue eating healthily. I'm planning on doing intermittent fasting because that feels manageable to me - not eat til 11 and then stop eating by 7. Do people calorie count? I hate doing that.

It did feel like that - I had it lot when pregnant and thought it was gallstones because it came on after eating higher fat foods but a subsequent scan showed no stones so it was just chalked up to reflux 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have an appointment in an hour and I’ll report back with what they say in case it helps anybody else with similar.

LittleDitto · 31/03/2023 12:22

I’ve just bitten the bullet and ordered some! Been trying to lose weight for years now. I want to lose about 4 stone. I’ve been watching what I eat for a considerable time now but sadly nothing is happening.

I hope this gives me a boost.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 31/03/2023 12:39

My first pen has just arrived and I plan to do the first dose tonight then do a weekly weigh in on Saturday morning.

I successfully lost nearly 5 stone 2020-2021 during lockdown using my fitness pal, counting calories and strictly limiting carbs but it's all piled back on since the world restarted.

I have PCOS and insulin resistance so it's always a battle to lose weight as the only way to do it is to basically cut out carbs down to just what's in green veg, I even have to cut fruit or I don't lose at all. Hoping the ozempic will help with that.

I've dusted off my weightloss spreadsheet, set out my 7lb loss goals and set myself some prizes for achieving them.

Here we go again.

summerlovingvibes · 31/03/2023 13:00

How many days after first starting it did people start to notice their appetite disappear?

mumwheresmyribena · 31/03/2023 13:42

It carries a great deal @summerlovingvibes some people notice it straight away others don't see it until they're 8 or 10 weeks in. Some people don't see their appetite disappear at all, they're just able to ignore it and/or get full much quicker when they do eat.

mumwheresmyribena · 31/03/2023 13:43

Sorry, "carries" should read "varies".

I noticed an immediate absence of appetite the day after the injection but by about day 5 my appetite returned and I started started taking Glucomman from Manual day before yesterday and that helping me feel full until the next injection.

Beenalongwinter · 31/03/2023 14:55

Sorry , I forgot to link. It was half price when I bought it . I can get to day 4/5 without thinking about food at all but I struggle the last couple of day thi really helps.
