“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

Thank you all again for this thread, particularly Peridot1! A wealth of info 😀
So I'm due my 2nd jab tomorrow and it can't come soon enough! From last Thurs til Monday eve I was grand, no side effects, suppressed hunger and no will for eating crap which is my normal evening routine. Monday evening I was ravenous and couldnt stop myself. Someone had given me a massive bar of choc in work and I ate half on Mon and the 2nd half last night. This morning I've had a croissant and who knows how the rest of the day will go?
I'm hoping that it just hasnt settled in yet and the 1st few days were just a placebo effect. I've seen it said that it didnt take effect for a few weeks with others too - fingers crossed!

Disappointed with today's weigh in, only 0.7kg for week 3 and I've eaten less than I did last week when I lost 2.2kg!

Don't be discouraged - day to day / week to week the number on the scale can fluctuate because of a whole range of things - what you've eaten and drunk in the last 24 hours, where you are in your menstrual cycle, whether you are carrying an infection etc etc. The trend over time is what matters. 2.9kg weight loss in 2 weeks is a huge amount.

I use an app called Happy Scale to record my daily weigh-ins and it calculates out what your likely "real" weight is so that the fluctuation is smoothed out. Really recommend it, and v good for celebrating milestones / visualising progress / futurecasting based on the rate of weight loss.

The other thing you can do is get scales that measure body fat percentage as often when the kg number hasn't changed the % of body fat has gone down, which means you've lost fat but are just carrying additional water weight.

Erith1985 · 29/03/2023 12:48

Anyone moved on the 1mg pen yet and have any experience to share? I'm going up to 1mg this weekend. I've consistently lost just under 1kg per week on 0.25 and 0.5 but each time I stepped up the dose appetite suppression wore off after a few weeks - does that also happen on 1mg? I weirdly still get uncomfortable fullness if I eat a large portion so I am still being helped to moderate my eating, but definitely odd being super full one minute and then hungry the next..!

I also got side effects on 0.5 that I didn't have on 0.25 - specifically light headedness / hypoglaecemia and nausea. Anyone find that 1mg brought new side effects for them?

Overall super super super happy - now 10kg down since mid-January, 20 more to go..! Currently on track to hit my goal by November which feels almost unbelievable..!

SmileLikeUMeanIt · 29/03/2023 13:06

Thank you. I think because I'd done so well the previous two weeks it was a surprise. Happy scale doesn't seem to appear on my play store. I do have body fat scales but I don't actually know how to use them for anything other than weight!
Sounds like you're doing amazingly well. I'm onto 1mg next week, I did just over 0.5 this week because I did a second injection with the remainder in the pen.

Sameiam · 29/03/2023 13:29

You can do a version of what happy scale does and just keep an average weight over the last three/five/seven days. It’ll smooth out a lot of those daily movements and you can just do it in excel or google sheets.

Peridot1 · 29/03/2023 14:17

Thanks @Btrsun10. Nice to be appreciated! Try not to stress about the chocolate but maybe just try to limit yourself to a smaller price every night. And a croissant for breakfast???? Where is the protein? You need to help Ozempic a bit! Low carb, higher protein and fibre. A croissant will just set you up to be hungry all day.

@Erith1985 - remember Ozempic is still relatively low doses. The appetite suppression will wear off. Some people have been recommend glaucoma

Peridot1 · 29/03/2023 14:21

Aargh. Pressed wrong button.

@Erith1985 some people have been advised to take glucomannan (not glaucoma!) as they go towards their next dose. I found 0.5 twice a week was better for me than 1mg for some reason. But yes the appetite suppression will wear off. Someone linked to an article on it which I’ll try to find.

UsernameFail · 29/03/2023 15:33

What is Glaucoman @Peridot1 and what is it used for?

RichTeaCheddars · 29/03/2023 15:35

A quick Google will help you.

It's a dietary fibre that helps you feel fuller longer.

Peridot1 · 29/03/2023 16:10

@Beenalongwinter - are you eating enough? You shouldn’t really get hunger pangs. If you are eating enough protein you shouldn’t get hungry. I know for a lot of people they think they shouldn’t get hungry on Ozempic at all but you will. And it’s fine to eat. Just make sure you are eating the right sort of food.

Yes I am eating enough, most certainly enough fruit and veg, maybe I should
Up the protein.

UsernameFail · 29/03/2023 16:30

Thanks for explaining. A further investigation is Glaucomanan is Konjac which is used in 'skinny' noodles.

UsernameFail · 29/03/2023 16:36

@Beenalongwinter I would definitely up your protein. I've been seeing a trainer and watching what I eat for 5months now (this time, tried gazillion times before too) and she suggested extra protein to help you feel full longer

That's really interesting about the noodles . I forgot to say the link gives anyone interested in trying it 50% off I have just spoken to my friend who started taking it last week and she said it helps her to feel dull but she only takes it second half of the week when she feels the injection is wearing off. As promised, I will update once I have tried it.

I've read on the previous threads that people might find less side affects injecting into the thigh rather than stomach. Is that right?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 29/03/2023 17:34

Evening all, have taken my first dose of 0.5 tonight, my fourth injection overall. It was time, I felt like the 0.25 wasn't quite enough anymore?

Interesting what previous posters have said about splitting doses across the week for more longevity in appetite suppression - my box of extra needles is arriving today so I'll be able to trial this should I need to.

I saw this, have done it in my thigh and had no nausea. But I might have been fine in stomach as well.

Amandasummers · 29/03/2023 18:07

@Lavendersquare ive pm’d you x

It didn’t work for me. I tried both but the nausea was the same.

mumwheresmyribena · 29/03/2023 19:03

@SmileLikeUMeanIt There's also Libra and the snapily named Monitor your Weight. They're both Android apps that show weight trend lines. I use Libra and it's very useful - and motivating. Libra also lets you chose how many days you want to average your trend; I choose 7 days. It also projects the trend into the future.

AwfullyAngry · 29/03/2023 21:55
