“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

I will be in Spain for a week and half. I don't particularly want to travel with Ozempic pen that needs to be chilled. Is it okay to skill a week and half and get back to it later? Has anyone tried this before?

Peridot1 · 26/03/2023 15:34

Oh dear @Prettybubblesintheair! That doesn’t sound good. Hope you are ok today.

@Twiglets1 - I think I’ve always enjoyed food on Ozempic. Still interested in it and enjoy it although less of it. I think there were some evenings in the beginning where I wouldn’t have been bothered not to have had dinner but they were few and far between I think.

@caringcarer - I would say that that’s achievable yes. I would say you probably didn’t need to practice eating small portions this week although your 1kg loss is obviously a great start. The whole point of Ozempic is that you will naturally eat smaller portions. And that food will stay in your system for longer making you feel full for longer. You don’t have to rely on willpower.

Peridot1 · 26/03/2023 15:36

@MissLucyLiu - yes I had a couple of breaks and then went back to it. It stays in your system for a few weeks anyway really depending on the dose you are on and how long you’ve been on it. And then it can take a bit of time to build back up in your system once you restart.

Twiglets1 · 26/03/2023 16:05

We’re all different @Peridot1 thats why sharing our experiences is so interesting as many different reactions to the same drug. You are brilliant at giving the view of someone who has been on it a while & sharing your expertise

Movinghouseatlast · 26/03/2023 16:25

I started on Friday evening. I'm not sure it's had any effect so far.

Yesterday and today I have been absolutely ravenous at lunch time. Today for example I had a crumpet, 90g of halloumi cheese and some salad. It came to around 500 calories and I am still hungry.

I'm just desperate to lose my menopause weight. I've put on 4 stone and feel so unhealthy. I have always eaten healthily 90% of the time- I'm lucky that I have no binging/ emotional.eating etc to overcome I just need to eat less than my body tells me to eat.

I know it's only 2 days but I literally feel no different.

ErmineAndPearls · 26/03/2023 10:39

I’ve been on this for six weeks and I’m still having side effects. I’m determined to persevere, but I woke up this morning and was sick. TMI for a Sunday morning, sorry.☹️

Sorry to hear you're having side affects. What dose are you on now - could you maybe lower it a bit? Do you have much to lose?

Dunkindonuts8 · 26/03/2023 16:58

caringcarer · 26/03/2023 15:01

I get my first injection on next Wednesday. I've been practicing eating very small portions this week. I've managed to loose 1 kg all by myself. I'm determined to make it work with Ozempic. I've never been good with dieting but I'm booking a holiday for October half term for just me and DH as we have only had a few weekend breaks for last 2 years due to my weight and not being able to walk far. As it will be 7 months away I'm hoping to have lost 3 stone by holiday. Is this a realistic aim?

I suppose it probably depends a little bit on how much you've got to lose as to whether that's achievable or not? But 1.5 pounds per week would see you at a 3 stone loss by October half term. Good luck I hope it works for you x

Peridot1 · 26/03/2023 17:27

We are indeed all so different @Twiglets1. Which is why the oft trotted out “just eat less and move more” makes me so annoyed. There are so many reasons for weight gain and difficulty losing and no one method works for all. Even the ‘miracle’ that is Ozempic.

are you on the 0.25 dose?
That is not really a therapeutic dose for most people plus the drug does take a while to become effective.
I think we all get into a frenzy and think this is going to solve everything immediately but it's just a helping hand.
i've been on it since december and have lost 26 lbs but it hasn't been regular weight loss plus some weeks i have felt it hasn't had any effect at all.
So don't be despondent- take your time and hopefully it will be able to help you . good luck

Peridot1 · 26/03/2023 17:31

@Movinghouseatlast - if you have only just started it can take while to build up in your system. If you read the thread you’ll see many people say the same. It sounds like it may be starting to have an effect in an odd way. I’m much hungrier in the morning and at lunch time but not necessarily in the evening - you may be reacting in the same way. If you’re hungry eat but eat protein. And have some water.

Movinghouseatlast · 26/03/2023 17:35

Thanks! Yes, I think I'm just being impatient. I'm on the lowest dose, yes.

It's listed on weight loss chat threads.

ErmineAndPearls · 26/03/2023 18:39

Thanks, @Dunkindonuts8. I’ve continued to feel gruesome all day - not great as I have work to do! I’m on 0.5 mg now and this is my second week on that dose. I have the injection on a Saturday, so maybe that had something to do with feeling ill today. I don’t have an enormous amount to lose - maybe three and a half stone. That would take my BMI from 30 to 25.

ErmineAndPearls · 26/03/2023 18:43

Beenalongwinter · 26/03/2023 10:48

That's very unfortunate Ermine, try mint tea or ginger and lemon. Sorry you are struggling.

Good idea, @Beenalongwinter. I do have some ginger and lemon here somewhere…

Prunes, strong coffee, orange juice… not of it is working! I used to be a regular once a dayer, but now I haven’t been since Thursday, and even that was very er, small. Help!

I got the mildest senna tablets from Amazon (Boots also sell them) - took one at night and went easily the next morning 😊

Sit in the loo with your phone and do a big online Tesco shop 😁. Works for me every time! 😂

Well, I have to say this is some kind of miracle. Well into week 2 and appetite has almost completely gone. Have to force myself to eat. And so far, no side effects. Dare I imagine the future where years and years of being overweight and being so depressed about it may be in the past?

Yes it's amazing. When did you start?

Sorry I see you said just over two weeks

NigellaAwesome · 26/03/2023 20:46

Hi all, I'm just catching up on the thread and hope everyone had a good week.

I did my first injection last Sunday night, and I haven't really felt that different. I wasn't even that sure if I had done it right as I found it quite stingy. I don't think I have lost any weight.

The only changes I have noticed are a bit of heartburn from time to time, a few burps (and I don't normally burp), but not much. I have noticed on a couple of my evening meals I have only been able to manage half of my dinner, and I have been craving fruit / yoghurt for breakfast rather than anything heavier. I have been really quite hungry at lunchtime, and it has been quite a disrupted week in terms of routine, so I think if anything I have eaten a lot more carbs than usual. Hopefully this week will settle down a bit more.

I don't know if it could be connected at all, but my existing knee pain has flared quite badly and I have felt really very emotional about it. I burst into tears during the week when someone asked if I was ok. Chronic pain is very wearing anyway, along with the lack of sleep that follows, but I also wondered if part of the emotion could have been low blood sugar?

2nd injection due tonight. Right - I'm off to read the rest of the thread and see how you have all got on.

Oigetoffmylawn · 26/03/2023 21:14

NigellaAwesome

Sorry to hear about your pain. I don't think the pain is related to ozempic (but I couldn't guarantee that) however I totally get what you mean emotional and low blood sugar - I've had to look for other signs I'm hunger beyond simply feeling hungry and one of them is my inability to regulate emotions.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 27/03/2023 07:42

I've lost an additional 5lbs this week. That's one stone in three weeks. I'm amazed!!!
