“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

I can see someone also asked earlier but I can't see a response does everyone start at .25
If you think you are pre diabetic as lots of slightly overweight older ladies might be might it be better to start at .5?

You could try but you risk it giving you worse side effects. I still lost vet half a stone in the first 4 weeks on 0.25

Where do you guys keep your pen once it’s been opened and therefore no need to be in fridge?

I still keep mine in the fridge. I buy the higher dose pens and stretch them over 8 weeks which is over the recommend use by. I'm hoping by keeping it on the fridge it will last.

Lndnmummy · 17/03/2023 17:38

ODFOD!!

I decided to ignore and report the sanctimonious teeny tiny.
I wish I'd thought of eating less and moving more, ground breaking.

This is why I hate concern trolling. They hate fat people but they also hate us having access to anything that might help us because we are supposed to pay for our "sin" of excess weight by suffering until we are fit to join society.

Absolute twats.

HolibobsinApril · 17/03/2023 17:44

@Athena51 I agree. I made the mistake of reading some comments on a Daily Fail thread on Ozempic and some of the comments were utterly vile. I've not read something so vile.

No the Ozempic drug guidance itself says starry at 0.25 and remember it was made for diabetics. If you go to the website it says 4 weeks on 0.25. X

My friend is type 2 diabetic and was prescribed ozempic nearly 4 years ago, she started on 0.25mg and slowly built up. She’s lost over 4 stone and is no longer diabetic, she takes 1.5mg weekly and will do for life.

swallowedAfly · 17/03/2023 17:49

Thankfully I missed that little lecture!

I'm afraid I've now forgotten your name but wanted to say a wow and well done to the lady who has lost 5stone - how long did that take?

I ordered with QuickMeds yesterday and my pen arrived this morning. Going to take my first dose tonight.

@Athena51 oh no poor you! Rookie mistake! Never ever read the Daily Fail! Xx

Sooooo in the interests of full disclosure….

My lunch has just, er, come back on itself. All of it. 😬

So while it feels like nothing at all is changing in my brain, maybe something is changing in my body? My stomach was too full?

Ha!, I honestly had to laugh at this!,,Sorry!,

Not many people on Mumsnet have reported vomiting compared to Reddit, but I experienced that too, several times. I couldn’t work out a pattern to it ( apart from the first time when it followed 2 Proseccos) so please let me know if you work out what causes it! In my case it definitely wasn’t always gay my stomach was too full as Ozempic had a drastic effect on my appetite

stillavid · 17/03/2023 19:21

I vomited after having 2 glasses of red wine. And now can not tolerate red wine at all, it actually brings me out in a rash.

MuMuMuuuum · 17/03/2023 19:23

I had one spell of vomiting around 3 weeks in but it was after a meal out which was high fat and carbs (pasta and cheese) and a couple of glasses of wine. Felt rough for days afterwards Since then I eat little and often and avoid alcohol with no issues.

alwayscheery · 17/03/2023 20:10

Thank you so much to whoever gave me a Manual code . It was actually a hundred pounds off. Here is mine which should give someone else £100 off.

themuminator · 17/03/2023 20:39

Can anyone tell me what happens with Manual after the first 4 weeks? Does it auto renew? I'd rather switch to somewhere cheaper like Quick Meds. But I'll need to do that quickly if they just take the second payment!

Week 3 weigh in, and I'm stuck at the same weight as last week. Annoying. The loss is not massively dramatic for me. It's gonna take me some time to do it slowly I think.

No vomiting etc for me but then I don't drink alcohol and I've been very careful not to eat big meals or high fat food. Just metallic mouth and the need to drink more.

Adarajames · 17/03/2023 21:41

I spoke to my GP today, and she said they are only allowed to prescribe for people with BMI over 40, so I’m not allowed to get it.

She also said she’d rather I restarted on blasted metformin (I stopped because it made my sleep so bad I was only getting 10 mins a night!!) as she doesn’t believe that caused the insomnia! 😠so a month more on that, another blood test and doesn’t want me to purchase the pens although if I can work out a way to do so, I may just go for it anyway as really need something to help kick start some weight loss as I’m really struggling alone

Oigetoffmylawn · 17/03/2023 22:12

So my period is due in the next few days, and I'm craving a bit of sugar. I'm my next dose tomorrow as well, so today has been a bit harder than usual. This evening I looked in the pantry cupboard and found some chocolate that I bought on Monday and didn't eat in the cupboard! I'd completely forgotten about. That never happens. Just shows how much of a difference this medication is making to my brain.

It says that when follow link, then when go through it it offers you a 35% off for first purchase, and if you delete that and type yours in, it says it’s invalid?! It’s very user unfriendly!

RainyDays8 · 17/03/2023 23:20

orangelotus · 17/03/2023 18:00

Ha!, I honestly had to laugh at this!,,Sorry!,

I wasn’t laughing 😆

Thanks all for sharing your experiences on this less-than-pleasant side effect. I’d had a very pedestrian lunch of cheese sandwich, apple and a packet of crisps 😂 sadly no Prosecco!

Well, I am astonished to say this, but since then, I haven’t really been hungry. But then I’ve not been sure whether that’s the Ozempic or just the fact that, well I’d been sick and didn’t fancy eating again!? Anyway, I had a light dinner and one cookie and although I am feeling a bit peckish now I’ll be off to bed in a bit.

So, unsure as to whether it’s actually kicked in after all yet but tomorrow is another day!

ZiggZagg · 17/03/2023 23:26

Is anyone able to send me a My Juniper code please? Having to order Tuesday (payday) and trying to price up best prices.

Also if I were to buy 2 pens, as long as they are unopened I can keep in the fridge until expiry?

Thanks 😊
