“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

Dyan, that's really interesting, thank you. I wonder would that work in Ireland?

Do you just bring the prescription to any chemist in Europe? I'm going to Italy in a couple of weeks, but my Italian is non-existent.

I have sent you a private message, but the simple answer is yes and you don’t need English. Can all be done online👍

hereforthegin · 16/03/2023 21:59

I ordered on a Friday and it was delivered on the Wednesday after I believe.

NigellaAwesome · 16/03/2023 22:28

I ordered from Daily Chemist last Saturday and still no sign of it. I got an email on Tuesday to say it 'is in despatch' so I don't know if that means it has actually been sent yet. Paid £169 + postage, so not as cheap as some of the others mentioned on here.

Cafog · 16/03/2023 22:32

@DyanDeutsch that's amazing re the EU prescription price. I wonder would that work in Ireland? I'm in NI only half an order from the border

Kidsaregrim · 16/03/2023 22:33

Hey! So just found this thread 24 hours after starting Ozempic and already think I’ve been ripped off after paying £170 with Health Express!

History, was 22st and had weight loss surgery and then skin removal, 6 years later and it has no effect at all 😩 I lost 10 stone altogether but have since gained about 2st 7lb.

I started .25 yesterday and jabbed myself wrong and then squires some across the room but think I successfully got a dose in!

It seemed to work quickly, I felt a bit light headed and queasy but nothing major and I ate a normal dinner.

Woke this morning and had a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice as I had an early meeting, then realised about 1pm I still hadn’t eaten. Made a 2 egg omelette with ham and cheese and ate about half but again I got a queasy feeling!

At About 4 I had a cuppa soup as I was getting a bit worried that my blood sugar might drop (although I’m dubious of the nutritional value of a cuppa soup).

had dinner about 7.30 of roast chicken, managed a small amount of chicken, half a roast potato and a very small Yorkshire pudding and veg (served on a plate which was between a tea plate and dinner plate).

I feel exactly the same as I did after the weight loss surgery, like I should feel hungry but I’m not hungry!

or maybe this is all a placebo and I’ll wake up tomorrow thinking of buttery crumpets!

Cafog · 16/03/2023 22:34

Sorry didn't read the thread I see you've already answered another poster apologies!

Hello everyone, I have been researching and deliberating for a few weeks and have finally bitten the bullet and ordered from Manual last night, delivery tomorrow afternoon!

My BMI is 'only' 27 but being 52 and peri I feel like I'm growing by the day. I have recently discovered that I have high cholesterol too. I lost weight via calorie counting 4 years ago and it worked really well for me and I lost over 12 kilos but following a house move to a new area 18 months ago and working from home, I have managed to pile it all back on. I am so annoyed with myself but am hoping that Ozempic will kickstart me back into action - my plan is try it for a month or two to see how I get on. Wish me luck, I have really enjoyed reading everyone's posts.

Good Luck @Wtafisgoingontoday

BastardtheCat · 16/03/2023 23:19

I'm also considering Quickmeds and if anyone would benefit from giving me a referral code, please PM me?

Do you all start on the 0.25?

Dressshelp · 16/03/2023 23:29

I’ve been reading up all the threads and thought I would post so I don’t lose my place. I’m 5ft 2 and 13 stone 4. I started my first dose on Tuesday and so far am Really happy with how it’s gone. Im just not hungry at all so eating about half my usual amount. I’ve found it really interesting my ability to just stop eating - before I would have 2 or 3 chocolate bars in one go. I went to get a snack before and I literally had 3 squares of chocolate and was so satisfied with that. It’s amazing!

i ordered manual and then when they were taking ages to deliver I went on my chemist and got the tablets next day delivery. I’m wondering whether to use the tablets when I go on holiday as we are away for a fortnight and the second injection while we are away would be a new pen based on number of doses I’ve used. Hope that makes sense! Has anyone else taken it on holls? What did you all do?

DutifulDaughterWifeMother · 16/03/2023 23:57

@Twiglets1 Thank you for your lovely message!

ZiggZagg · 17/03/2023 05:48

I took my first dose at 12pm yesterday and felt ok. Ate a lot less than I normally would, although not sure if that's a placebo effect. I fell to sleep with DS at 9pm and woke up around 2.5 hours later. I've been awake since 11.30pm and cannot get back to sleep. Has anyone had this issue? I don't feel the slightest bit tired! On the plus side, I have not sat up snacking!

It’s more common to feel extra tired on Ozempic tbh. Maybe you’re just struggling to sleep at the moment because you have a lot on your mind? I don’t think insomnia is a common side effect, though could be wrong.

pisspants · 17/03/2023 06:53

Hello! after reading these threads I've taken the plunge and ordered ozempic from quickness and took my first 0 25 dose on Wednesday night. I wasn't un-hungry yesterday if that makes sense, and ate 3 meals but didnt snacking think about food as much. Stupidly weighed myself this morning hoping for a miracle and had put on a pound! annoying! but definitely not hungry now and may have my breakfast at lunchtime I'm going to stick to bran flakes daily to keep me regular as think it can cause gut issues if I'm not mistaken! I'm 5'2" and weigh 12 st 11 and am hoping to get to below 10st.

swallowedAfly · 17/03/2023 07:35

Video showing how to use clicks to measure doses and the handy tip of marking the doses on the pen so you don't have to count every time. I would definitely go to 0.75 after 0.5 rather than jump to 1 personally.

ZiggZagg · 17/03/2023 08:19

Thanks @Twiglets1 managed to grab an hour before waking up in a panic to get everyone to school!!

Not feeling hungry at all, but I do normally skip breakfast anyway so will prepare myself a nice lunch.

Have a good day everyone!

zoinkss · 17/03/2023 09:00

So first injection yesterday, had normal dinner and have now been up since 5am. I'd normally be ravenous by this point, but I'm actually ok. A bit peckish but going to be sensible and start listening to my body and wait until I actually feel "properly" hungry, rather than just eating because I feel I should.

I really hope this is the thing that works for me 😄

RainyDays8 · 17/03/2023 09:06

First injection yesterday.

Ate normally throughout the day (nearly 2000 calories 🫣), and have woken up today feeling normal and, well, a little hungry really! Thinking about having some breakfast.

I’m going to be one of those for whom it doesn’t work, I just know it! 😑

RainyDays8 · 17/03/2023 09:07

Is there anyone else for whom it took a few days for Ozempic to kick in?

Loads of people.

Lots on the first and second thread. Lots of people have been on it for several months now so it's hard to remember that far back! But you have to remember that 1mg is a therapeutic dose, 0.25 isn't supposed to have an effect, some people are just lucky!

RebelGeek76 · 17/03/2023 09:50

Hey everyone, just catching up on threads. I'm six weeks in now and happy with nearly 12lb loss so far. Had a big loss my first week and didn't lose anything one week but am pleased I'm averaging 1-1.5lbs per week. I've been less strict with my low carb eating (had been aiming around 20-30g but probably having 50-75g) and still losing which is great though don't want to become complacent about this as the carbs are definitely my downfall so don't want to sneak back into bad habits. Clothes definitely feeling a lot looser especially around waist which is where I carry most of my weight.

Still get the odd bouts of nausea, feels random sometimes like had a day last week where I felt it all day and normally feel better when I eat something but it wasn't happening that day, I wonder if perhaps I had low blood sugar causing the nausea? Constipation is a pain at times but trying to take magnesium to help. Need to remind self drink more water as barely drinking any now, Ozempic must also suppress thirst as well as appetite to some extent.

WhyDoesItAlways · 17/03/2023 09:54

Stepped on the scales this morning feeling like I wouldn't have lost anything but 2lbs down and I'm premenstrual so was expecting a bit of water weight. I was on my second dose last week, due to take the third today and haven't felt the appetite suppression much but have been able to say no to snacks and unhealthy food but otherwise I don't feel like I've eaten much less than I ordinarily would and definitely not enough to have made me lose any weight before I started taking ozempic. I do have PCOS and suspect that the effects that ozempic have on my insulin may be just as beneficial for me as the appetite suppression. I've also got much more energy, no longer feel tired and sluggish all the time. So far so good.

imaginationhasfailedme · 17/03/2023 10:09

Urgh, healthexpress have despatched the tablets to me (despite live chat requests and a contact form to cancel it). Purely because I'm now pissed off with them (and will keep tablets for back up), does anyone have a discount code for manual or juniper by any chance? Although when i go through the manual consultation, they suggest Alli which I can't change so maybe Juniper

theproblemchild · 17/03/2023 10:27

Hello everyone

Pleased to find on my weigh in today that I'm down just over 5kgs at week 4. It feels like progress and I'm already feeling more comfortable in my own skin. Like a PP said on an older thread it's amazing when you pick up a bill bag of rice/ pasta and realise that's what you've carrying around. Hopefully my body will thank me for this kick start.

I originally ordered via Manual through referral and on pp added a ref code. What I didn't realise that the discount does not extend to future purchase of weight loss products so my next pen will be full price at £200.

Time to switch I think! Recommendations and any referrals much appreciated...

SOWK · 17/03/2023 11:19

Just taken my first dose but I think it did something wrong because there was still liquid on the needle when I took it out. Also the injection site still hurts 15mins later and I generally have a high pain threshold. Any ideas?

Can you try a cool pack on the injection site. The needle is so fine and short it shouldn't have done any damage as can't reach lower structures and just sits in the subcutaneous fat below the skin. Were you particularly nervous? Could you have scratched yourself as you injected or 'jiggled' the pen with an unsteady hand? I could be the shock of injecting yourself for the first time but hopefully it will get easier. Just observe the site, you may develop a small bruise which will fade over the next few days..

My needle returns with a small bead of solution and I regard this as normal. Once I've administered the dose I hold the pen in situ for a few more seconds before withdrawing it, it still has a bead but I've continued the practice as I did with fragments injections post CS. Lx
