I will tag along. I am exactly the same weight as you, and would love to hit 140lbs but I am sceptical I could manage that so will settle for 147lbs as a goal 🙂

GrogusMama · 04/03/2023 09:51

Im wondering if it's achievable but I'll be happy with a stone too :)

Do you have any plans for the changes you'll make?

OP posts:
IAmDoingIt · 04/03/2023 10:28

I started a while ago with making some changes. I had/have a major problem with snacking and snacking leading to bingeing, so before Christmas I was listening to the first few Kathryn Hansen Brain Over Binge podcasts, then after Christmas I read the Glucose Revolution book and started properly on 27th December. I don’t do everything the book says but it has really helped with controlling sugar levels which then helps with avoiding snacking.

I have lost 7lbs since Christmas but have really got stuck the last couple of weeks so having to consider portion sizes etc for meals to take it a bit further I think.

GrogusMama · 04/03/2023 11:53

Oh wow. I have the same issues with eating sugary foods, I'm going to read that. Thanks.

It’s good I think. A few strange ideas which I don’t use but generally it has really helped me stop snacking. The author did a webchat on here too.

Are you mostly going to pick up what you were doing before? How much have you lost already?

Dinersaur · 05/03/2023 07:59

The suz month plateau will have really done you good. Have you seen the research about how havin a break and maintaining for six months helps you not regain? Good luck!

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 05/03/2023 08:13

I will join. And hopefully stick to it!
SW: 12 stone 168 size 12/14
GW: 10.5 stone 147 size 10

So also a stone and a half to lose like you OP. The quicker the better, within reason!

My aim is to just eat less at work, I can get caught up in ordering food from the cafe and then food turns to snacks and crisps. I need to stick to an apple/banana and yoghurt at work. So then I can enjoy my evening meal!

Kicking myself as before Xmas I got to 11s10 and then shot back up and haven't been able to get back down.

moveoverye · 06/03/2023 20:12

Oh my goodness we are practically weight loss twins! Please can I join you?

Starting: today!
Goal date: June 10th (friend’s wedding)

Start weight: 73kg / 160lb
Goal weight: 63kg / 140lb

I bought some new scales today! Ready and all set! 💪Let’s do this!

moveoverye · 06/03/2023 20:18

At the moment my plan is to stick to 1400 cals a day and go for a 30min walk/jog every day.

I’m not sure if this is the right thing to get me to the target but I’m going to give it a go and see how I get on!

moveoverye · 06/03/2023 20:19

Also well done on your weight loss to date! I haven’t lost so much as a gram in my life before, it’s been a solid upward trajectory thus far.

Paesano · 06/03/2023 20:29

I'm in too, and coincidentally exactly the same goal weight loss and time frame. I've lost that much before in that time frame then it all snuck back on and now I'm menopausal and struggling. I really need a boot up the bum because I'm fed up with feeling rubbish about myself.

HerLadyshipsSoap · 06/03/2023 22:58

Another one with exactly the same weight and goal!

Can I join you? I’ve just signed up to Noom and started today. I think the daily food logging will help me focus. I wasn’t very prepared so was already at 2000 calories after dinner. But it stopped me snacking on the sofa tonight which is a start.

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 07/03/2023 06:47

Just checking in that I stuck to 1400 yesterday despite feeling grotty and wanting to eat all the things.
Willpower and stickability are big issues for me. I lose sight of the goal.
My actual daily allowance is 1250 as im very sedentary at the moment. Not going to beat myself up though for 1400

LancashireSquirrel · 07/03/2023 07:45

Can I join?

My weight has also crept up since Xmas and I haven't been able to get it back down! It doesn't help my birthday was in between which turned into more of a birthday fortnight than just one day!

Simonsaysitschristmas · 07/03/2023 08:58

Also joining as my weight has crept up AGAIN and I really want to get it back down.

I just know if I stick to it for 4 weeks the motivation will kick in after seeing the scales drop.

My starting weight is 184

moveoverye · 08/03/2023 10:10

Well, I weighed myself this morning and I am supposedly 1Kg lighter… I’m thinking this must be water loss, nobody can lose 1Kg of fat in 48h (especially when they have also eaten a dairy milk and been liberal with the cheese in that time😬)
How often is everyone else weighing? I’m wondering if weekly is better for seeing more of a genuine loss, or whether daily is better to track the fluctuations? 🤔

My stats are exactly the same as yours. I'm
Desperate to lose some weight. My first mini goal is to get to 160lb.

Nothing I'm doing is making any difference though. I have a very sit down job. I've cut out snacking 90% of the time and definitely eating a lot less than I was.

IsAGirlMumma · 08/03/2023 11:16

Starting (again) 08/03: 168lb
Goal: 140lb

We've got a couple of weddings this year, first is in April. Would love to be below 160lb. But really struggling at the moment

Simonsaysitschristmas · 08/03/2023 13:23

@moveoverye I weigh daily too. I don’t think either option is ideal. Weekly you could accidentally pick a day where you have fluctuated higher and so you think you are making less progress than you actually are. Daily can feel obsessive.

It’s tricky isn’t it!

Currently thinking I might weigh every day in March just to keep myself focused and also get an idea of the range of daily variations, then maybe switch to weekly after that, once I’ve got a rough confidence interval.

Very similar stats to lots here:
Start weight on Mon 6th March 11st 0.8
Goal weight 9.5 stone by summer - have a wedding mid July

Started 2022 with a 7 week old and 14.5 stone. Was really dedicated for first few months and lost lots but have really stalled and after reaching 10st 9 have now started going back in the wrong direction. Need to stop the slide, now.

Can't spend another summer unhappy with my weight.

Plan to restrict calories to under 1400, eat only between certain times, move as much as possible and get back into running (have 10k booked soon)

Jeds55 · 08/03/2023 14:19

I'm going to weigh weekly. I do a Monday currently. First goal - get back into the 10 stones

TangledBlue · 08/03/2023 16:52

I'd like to join in with this please. I started my diet on Monday too. It's my birthday in four months time so that's a good target date for me. And 1.5 stone sounds like an achievable loss (I would ideally like to lose three stone, but that's not going to happen by July).

Start weight (6th March): 13 stone 3 lbs
Current weight (8th March): 13 stone 1 lb
Goal weight (6th July): 11 stone 12 lbs

TangledBlue · 08/03/2023 17:15

*Goal weight: 11 stone 10 lbs

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 09/03/2023 19:14

Feel shocking today and have sabotaged myself with biscuits and chocolate which hasn't helped. Been in a bit of a health slump last few months which hasn't been helped by too much sugar. Need a reset
