I wanted to start a thread for those taking or thinking about taking Ozempic who have not necessarily got diabetes, or who have not had it prescribed through a doctor.
I have a bmi of 30, want to lose 3 stone in about 3/4 months. Hoping it's doable. I have been on it for 1 week and have lost 7lbs. I got it through the Mayfair Weight Loss Clinic. I think it's amazing and I am so excited for my weight loss journey.

Day 15 and have lost 10lb. First time in a long time gave I hope that something might actually work.

Remember 7000cals= 2.2 lbs of fat. So it will slow down but still a great start.

I am on Mounjaro and am down 8lbs in 17 days. BMI from 29 to 27.8

Lavendersquare · 12/03/2023 08:55

@Circa1840 I started Ozempic just 12 days ago and I'm showing a 9:5lb loss, I'm literally blown away by how this is going so far.

Apart from diarrhoea (absolutely awful) on Friday I haven't had any of the side effects others have reported.

I'm not calorie counting, in fact I'm determined to eat normal food, this is because I've never considered by main meals to be problematic as they are healthy, snacks and chocolate on the other hand are my downfall. Since taking Ozempic I've lost the desire to snack and can quite happily get to lunchtime on a cup of coffee instead of breakfast, a mid-morning snack and probably a biscuit or two. I was always hungry before, craving carbs with a noisy rumbling stomach, but that's now not the case.

I'm really happy so far with Ozempi, even the weekly injections aren't a big deal.

Thanks for starting this thread. I would like to start on it too. Where's the cheapest place to get it from?...it does seem expensive but hopefully worth it?

Circa1840 · 12/03/2023 20:25

I don't know where the cheapest is. Have a look on the various sites... Juniper, quickness, Mayfair weightloss Clinic to name a few. Some may be unavailable. Just have a look around.x

@Lavendersquare that is amazing. I am so shocked too at how the weight is falling. Your eating sounds similar to mine. I do sit down with the family to have dinner but I don't eat much at all. Its all healthy. I also watch my husband snack in the eve (he is eating cheese and crackers right now) but I have no desire to join him!
Side effect wise, I haven't had a poo for about 4/5 days. I have been downing Fybrogel but still nothing. I will have to get some stronger stuff tomorrow.
It's so exciting isn't it. I just have a feeling this may be it for me.

How much does it cost? What happens when you stop taking it? I'd love a magic pill. Overweight but not obese, would I get it prescribed?

I am paying 189 a month. There are cheaper companies. There are plenty of articles on various news sites that can help with your questions. I spent a good week reading up and deciding if it was right. I would recommend it but you need to do your own research.xx

There are several long running threads on ozempic with lots of knowledge and information on.

It's not a magic pill. It's also not suitable if you don't have a high enough BMI.

MayLeaveADentInYourSofa · 12/03/2023 20:52

I am on a similar medication (Mounjaro) and it has literally changed my life. It is a game changer for obesity issues. I'm in the US and many telehealth companies have popped up in the last couple of years offering to prescribe these meds for patients that qualify and I assume a similar thing has happened in the UK. My advice would be to research thoroughly who you choose to go with to ensure they are going to provide suitable ongoing support. Good luck.

No it’s an Obesity drug so you have to have to be obese to get a (legitimate) prescription. Not a magic pill and side effects can be brutal.

Yes, anyone with a BMI of 30 or over can get it legitimately.

What are the side effects? My BMI is 34.8 so I'd maybe be eligible for it and it seems to work for a lot of people

Penguinsmum · 13/03/2023 15:45

This is very helpful and useful. Thank you all 🙂

You would definitely be eligible right now for at least a private prescription.
You need to Google the side effects- they include nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea plus in rare cases, more serious side effects.
Of course, many people don’t get any side effects.

swearymad · 13/03/2023 15:57

I have ordered mine and waiting for it to arrive. Have you started on the lowest dose?

I started on the lowest dose 0.25mg & that is the official guidance to try to minimise side effects

DyanDeutsch · 14/03/2023 06:37

I’m starting on Friday morning. I’m very nervous and not sure what results I will get. I have a lower BMI (just under 30) but was prescribed it by my doctor for additional reasons associated with T2 diabetes. I’m not expecting the huge weight loss results that I’m reading but it would be nice 😁. I’ve dieted for a year down to this weight but then plateaued for months. I will let you know how I get on.

Lavendersquare · 14/03/2023 09:37

Just weighed today, day 14, and in two weeks I've lost exactly 10lb!

Over the moon doesn't describe it 😃

Three week weigh in... 11lbs. Very pleased but it's only a 1lb loss in the third week. Hoping for a 3lb loss this week to bring me to a stone in a month. Again, easiest wright loss ever. Only side effect is tiredness really but you just push on through.xx
