Ozempic users (not diabetic/non prescription)

I wanted to start a thread for those taking or thinking about taking Ozempic who have not necessarily got diabetes, or who have not had it prescribed through a doctor.
I have a bmi of 30, want to lose 3 stone in about 3/4 months. Hoping it's doable. I have been on it for 1 week and have lost 7lbs. I got it through the Mayfair Weight Loss Clinic. I think it's amazing and I am so excited for my weight loss journey.

You should probably change your thread title OP, Ozempic is only available on prescription, there is no 'non prescription' availability.

This is correct

I think it’s just a bit of a misunderstanding. People think if you get it off the internet it’s doesn’t have a prescription but the reality is that someone somewhere is signing that prescription. This is the case whether it’s for type 2 diabetes, obesity or other medical/epigenetic/endocrine reasons.

Week 6 now and things have definitely slowed. 16lb total so.very happy. My appetite is less suppressed so I am eating more. I love the fact I haven't put weight on which is what would have happened if I was dieting without this aid. Having gone up to 0.5mg my side effects are still minimal. Going to really try and make sure I make healthy choices this week to see if it can get me into the next stone bracket. 🙏

I'm due to get mine soon I hope but I'm worried that my social life will grind to a halt. Single
Mum and dating and don't want to be vomiting on dates! Any advice???

ArcticSkewer · 09/04/2023 22:39

It's done precisely nothing for me .... weird! I just get all the side effects but that makes me more hungry and I constantly feel dizzy. Lost 100g in two months! Not sure that's great value for money lol.

Anyone else it just hasn't worked for?

Circa1840 · 09/04/2023 23:01

@Reddress2023 you night be lucky. I haven't been sick or a dodgy tummy yet. Only once I took myself to bed because I was feeling really nauseous but I know it was because I had eaten more than usual. Lots if carbs too. I read lots of people avoid them on this because they might make you feel sick.

@ArcticSkewer that is so bizarre. Are you on .5mg now and still nothing?

OP posts:
ArcticSkewer · 10/04/2023 03:02

I'm on 1!

I certainly don't give up easily lol.

It's so weird reading everyone's posts. I must be immune 😂
Typical of my luck!

Circa1840 · 14/04/2023 20:55

Just an update. Week 7 today and I have lost 17lbs. Gone from 15.2 to 13.13 which is very exciting. I haven't been in the 13 stone bracket for years.
I was scared to get on the scales this morning as I have eaten a lot of banoffie pie and chocolate these last few days!

@ArcticSkewer any effects yet?!

That’s great news. Well done. I have been following the thread to hear success stories. I’m 3.5 weeks in and have lost 11lbs. I keep thinking - this muse be what normal people feel like! -eating a little and feeling satisfied. It’s frankly amazing.

Circa1840 · 14/04/2023 21:20

@Fatgirlslims that is fantastic. I think the same. It really makes me think about how much I used to eat. And mostly just for a sake of it. I remember my parents never eating breakfast but it has been ingrained in us that we must eat it. I would eat it even if I wasn't hungry. I find myself getting to 12 and then starting to feel hungry with Ozempic. I hope I can keep it up when i stop taking it. Not having the garlic bread with my spaghetti etc. All just empty carbs and pointless calories. Sorry I'm rambling....
It is the most amazing weight loss aid and I am so excited about what could be...
You are on the right track too, do update.xx

I’m intrigued by this after hearing colleagues discussing it. What happens when you stop taking the Ozempic?

Studies show that most people regain the weight, same with any diet. The ones who don’t regain the weight will have learnt some healthier eating habits and be very determined to stick to them going forward even when they no longer have the appetite suppression that Ozempic gives you.

Circa1840 · 15/04/2023 07:28

@EDelafield yes as @Twiglets1 says, studies show many put the weight back on. I have overhauled my diet, the pointless calories and carbs. The almond croissant everytime I meet a friend for a coffee, the kit kat I'd throw in at the petrol station. We never have takeaways, so its just the little things. Being on Oz gives you the space to think about what you eat. I look at calories again. Ask myself if I need it. I know the drug makes me feel full but when I do eat, I eat well. I hope I continue when I stop. I want to lose 3 stone. If I end up putting on a stone I will still be in a happy place.
I also wonder about the studies. They have been on people who were prescribed this drug for diabetes. Not for losing weight. If they studied those who took it purely to lose weight, would the numbers be better?
All I can say is, I have never felt this excited on a diet. Its finally working. I can see a skinny me on the horizon. I will do everything I can to not be fat again. A healthy lifestyle once again. I cannot wait.

I think it has reduced my appetite, I do eat less, and now I have lost a kg since going onto the 0.1dose.

I can't say it's any type of miracle cure for me though. It's strange reading all your posts! I wish it was like that for me ...

EDelafield · 15/04/2023 16:43

Thank you for your answers 🙏

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 15/04/2023 16:50

Took my third shot last night so 2 full weeks completed and I'm 10lb down. So far no negative side effects just a general dulling of hunger. I still feel hungry but not the gnawing, stomach rumbling, eat everything in sight levels I usually have when on a diet.

Have been focusing on protein and fat and reducing carbs.

BellsandSmells · 15/04/2023 21:25

Anyone got any tips for avoiding the nausea? I’m waiting for my pen to arrive but want to be prepared and have the right foods to hand. I read something that said fried foods, sugary food and carbs in general might make the nausea worse.

Alcohol doesn’t agree with some people on Ozempic.

Circa1840 · 16/04/2023 08:48

@BellsandSmells before I started on Oz I read though all these threads. I stocked up on senokot, ginger tea etc but I have found I haven't needed anything. Just wait and see what your reaction is. Some people are able to eat lots, some just pick, some are taking protein shakes? Just take time to listen to what your body is telling you. You need to eat what you like to eat, remember you are on a diet though, this will hopefully make it the easiest diet you have ever been on in your life!

I will have my 19th injection tomorrow. I have been off since good friday and i haven't been doing my usual food/drink/alcohol/water/sleep diary. Tomorrow will be my first weight check in 2 weeks.

I think I will have maintained rather than gained (lost 10kg in total at the last weigh in)
My stress levels are going up and my sleeping has been poor the last few days (all around returning to work) and I know this will have a resultant effect on my weight loss.

I think I mentioned this before: I was initially disappointed at my slow rate of loss, but I just have to accept this . Working with a coach has really put things in perspective.

The 10kg loss has such a positive effect on my well-being. Isn’t it amazing to be able to comfortably do your toenails and tie your shoelaces after you eat! Also, my pelvic floor is so much better. I rarely need to take meds for reflux anymore more, I’ve not needed an inhaler in 2 months

keep up the fight mes amies!

JoJo196 · 26/04/2023 15:58

Hi everyone,
hope it’s ok that I’m here….
I have been thinking of trying Ozempic, as everything else has failed, even diet pills where the only pounds lost, were in my purse 🙄 Anyway my bmi is 32+ but on reading all the comments… cus I eat barely 1400 calories a day would it still work 🤷🏻‍♀️Why r u not losing weight with so few calories I hear u say❓Well I’m disabled and can not do much exercise, about 10 minutes is my limit, also I take lots of medication, so would I just be wasting my money 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Circa1840 how are you getting on?

Hi, not posted for ages! So I am 21lbs down and today is week 12. I have massively plateaued but there has never been a weigh in where I have put on weight so I am still over the moon. I am due to start a new pen today. Its been in the fridge for a while. I am going to bite the bullet and inject the 1mg (I have stayed on .5 as it was still working). Perhaps the 1mg will give the weightless a boost. People are noticing I have lost weight and I am now in the next size down lift, slim and shape jeans from Next! It's the small things....
How have things been for you?x

Circa1840 · 24/05/2023 08:03

So moving up to the 1mg seems to have kick started it again. 2lbs down this week taking me to 1.9 stone/23lbs. So happy. Will keep on the 1mg now. Next injection tomorrow. I had to switch to Juniper to get the last pen. Hoping I am now just going to be sent them each month as it seems to be a subscription. Would love to hear how others are doing who started around the same time (Feb).x

Fatgirlslims · 24/05/2023 08:17

Hi. I started Mid March. Lost 1st in the first 6 weeks but had plateaued at 1st 2lbs for about 3 weeks now. Started on 1mg on Sunday and the scales have started to move again. I do find the appetite suppressant effect to have diminished a lot since I started so it takes a lot more effort to eat less. I worry as I have still 3st to lose if it has slowed this early. Good to hear about others.

This is my thought too!
From what I've read the weight piles back on and presumably you can't stay on it long term?
I have 2 friends contemplating starting it and while I know it's totally their decision, I feel worried for them!
