I wanted to start a thread for those taking or thinking about taking Ozempic who have not necessarily got diabetes, or who have not had it prescribed through a doctor.
I have a bmi of 30, want to lose 3 stone in about 3/4 months. Hoping it's doable. I have been on it for 1 week and have lost 7lbs. I got it through the Mayfair Weight Loss Clinic. I think it's amazing and I am so excited for my weight loss journey.

Thanks for the thread. Week 3 for me

Snap, today is 21 days since my first dose and I'm 12lb lighter with 5cm off my waist.

Secretboringsister · 21/03/2023 09:29

@Lavendersquare well done! I bet you feel amazing

@Lavendersquare well done! I bet you feel amazing

Yes, this week I'm starting to notice the difference in my clothes, waistbands not so tight and generally clothes feeling more comfortable. Still a long way to go.

I'm currently 14s 2lb and ideally want to be around 11s to be in the healthy range although that will take a while.

What about you? How are you doing? Have you had any side effects? I'm suffering with constipation and then chronic diarrhoea once a week, which I've nicknamed the poonami. Not pleasant but bearable and hopefully will reduce as things settle.

SaltyGod · 21/03/2023 10:15

Can I join? I'm 2.5kg / 5.5 lb down in 5 days. No side effects at all so far.

Some days I'm hungrier than others and I'm just going with that, eating if I'm hungry.

I'm not being strict with my diet, eg still having the odd biscuit, what is everyone else doing?

troppibambini6 · 21/03/2023 10:18

Hiya can I join you?
I'm on my second month of ozempic. I started on saxanda at the end beginning of September but found it stopped working quite quickly after I got to the maximum dose so swapped to ozempic.
I've gone from 14 stone 4 to 12 stone 6.
The first month of ozempic didn't really work I think probably because I'd been taking saxanda before. This month has been better I feel like it's starting to shift again.
I was at a st pats do on Friday and a lot of people commented I'd lost weight so that was a nice boost.
Hope everyone's having a good daySmile

Lavendersquare · 21/03/2023 10:19

@SaltyGod sounds like you’re doing really well. Like you I’m not ‘dieting’ I’m just eating a lot less and in particular the snacks and nibbles between meals.

SaltyGod · 21/03/2023 10:24

@Lavendersquare

Me too, generally I am eating less and snacking less, particularly in my danger zone when I used to not be able to stop myself grazing on whatever I could get my hands on.

Im also thinking about food less too.

I think I'd formed some bad habits, keen to reset on those

Circa1840 · 21/03/2023 11:53

So I have made the 1 stone mark... on day 25! Unbelievable. Easiest stone I have ever lost. Nice to see lots of you starting the journey.x

How much does it cost? What happens when you stop taking it? I'd love a magic pill. Overweight but not obese, would I get it prescribed?

when you stop taking it your appetite will go back to normal, and more likely you will gain weight back.

My mum was on Ozempic, (been prescribed by the doctor) but in Poland is a big problem with supply at the moment, so she had to stop taking it.

her appetite is normal now, not sure if she gain weight yet but deffinetly she eats more now.

In starting this at the weekend. Hoping to reverse my fatty liver.

StressedToTheMaxxx · 22/03/2023 21:41

I took 2 doses and stopped. The vomiting, diarrhoea, weakness, dizziness and fatigue were just too much for me, it really knocked 7 bells out of me.

I didn't lost any weight however it's supposed to keep you feeling full for longer (I think) and diminish hunger. The thing is, I don't eat because I'm hungry, I constantly eat because I'm greedy. Even when I don't feel hungry.

Back to the drawing board for me.

Circa1840 · 22/03/2023 21:54

Oh @StressedToTheMaxxx I'm sorry it made you feel so bad. Definitely not worth all those bad symptoms.x

Four weeks after starting with ozempic and I've lost 14lb, I'm over the moon!

Side effects have so far been minimal, constipation and diarrhoea once a week which although not pleasant are manageable.

Just going up to 0.5mg this week, so fingers crossed it goes well.

Stonetolose · 28/03/2023 14:57

Hi I started last week. Only a stone to lose though. But so far the benefits of Ozempic don't seem to have kicked in with no particular diminishing of appetite. I can only conclude it may not work for me, or work as in my case I don't have a lot to lose. But on the bright side it will save me £150 every 4 weeks.

I took my Third dose yesterday and am struggling. The nausea is awful and I’ve been physically sick a few times. I’ve only lost 5lbs (I’m over 13 stone at 5ft2) and I’m wondering whether to push through or give in now. I know I’m due to increase my dose soon and it is making me panic a bit. That said, the first week was amazing - my appetite just went! My snacking has crept back up this week, although it’s still much more controlled.

Only you can say when the side effects feel bad enough to give up. My advice though is not to increase your dose while you are already feeling bad & being sick. Stick with 0.25mg for a bit longer and hope that your body can adapt to it shortly, before you think about injecting a higher dose.

I am on week 18
Im getting it via Embla, which is a huge Danish company that has recently started in the uk
I have been very slowly increasing due to side effects and I have been on 0.75mg for 3 weeks.
The app and the health coaching are a huge part for me, I log all food/fluid/sleep and exercise. (Well almost all….)
I video chat with my coach every 2-4 weeks
i use the sms part to reflect and she messages me at least once a week
i have lost 10kg so far, another 10kg will get my bmi to 25.
Its the only weight loss journey that I have ever consistent with, I was hoping for quicker loss, but them’s the breaks!
I have always been a volume eater and suffered from regular hangry attacks: this is where the drug has helped IMO.

My script is £94 a pop (lasted 8 weeks on 0.5mg dose)
My membership is £34.50 month
They have only recently got their CQC registration this month and they are able to now arrange their own prescription and delivery of the same. I’ve been getting my prescription from one of their affiliated private GPs and I will continue to do this as I want to support my community pharmacist by taking the private prescription there

Good luck everyone!

Congrats on your 10kg loss, its probably about the same rate of loss I'm experiencing around 1-1.5lbs per week, not as much as I'd hoped but still losing at a healthy rate . I've taken a look at the Embla website and looks like quite interesting and looks like they're offering a similar service to juniper but more focus on the coaching/support side. However their website states subscription is £249 per month which includes medication, and £69 for a coaching only subscription - how are you getting it for a lot less?

bellac11 · 06/04/2023 06:49

You should probably change your thread title OP, Ozempic is only available on prescription, there is no 'non prescription' availability.

I am considering starting this - my bmi is 40 so I really need to do something radical! Did any of you find that you didn't want to drink alcohol whilst taking it? I think my wine/crisps habit is one of my biggest weightloss demons!

I had less interest in alcohol & crisps while I was taking Ozempic. Unfortunately the interest came back when I stopped taking it but it certainly works at reducing the snack craving while you’re on it.

If you do drink alcohol on Ozempic, chances are you will only do it once and not want to do it again so the risk of continued alcohol is low! X
