A thread for if you can’t keep up with threads but want somewhere to be accountable

Taq · 19/01/2023 22:43

Ive tried joining weight loss threads in the past but I always fall off, due to being too busy, getting behind and then feeling like I can’t just post all my crap without keeping up with everyone else’s lives.

So I’m going to be accountable here to myself/any others who join. If you literally just post your daily menu or whatever and then disappear without so much as a by-your-leave, I certainly won’t be the one to judge!

I have 12lbs to lose and I’m the fattest I’ve ever been. I’ve just come in from work and eaten absolutely loads, it’s no mystery as to why I’m getting fatter each day I’m just too bloody greedy.

I’m going to try intermittent fasting and calorie counting. 1400 a day in an 8 hour window. I’ll post my takings each day and I absolutely HAVE to do it this time or I’ll run out of clothes that fit.

It begins now! 💪💪💪💪

Stuck to my low key goals today.
B. Skyr yoghurt, apple, peanut butter 2 coffees
L. Chicken noodles, banana
D. Homemade falafel, hummus & salad pita. Baked banana for pudding.
11000 steps

PartnersInCrime · 31/01/2023 14:05

Sounds delicious @neverendinglauaundry
Hope you manage to get back on board @ThatshallotBaby

I'm doing ok with my 16:8 eating window and have replaced my pastry in the morning with yogurt, berries and nuts.

Last lot of vitamins in the evening is upsetting my stomach so will take one but not the other tonight and then the other way around tomorrow to see which is causing it - might just need time to adjust

Pucarbuile · 31/01/2023 17:15

Three day weekend epic fail so back on the horse today. Luckily, and I don't know how, I'm only up 0.2kg on Friday's weigh in so if I really rein it in I will hopefully be back on track by this weekend.

neverendinglauaundry · 31/01/2023 19:58

@Pucarbuile it's all about the long term!
Today less good & probably quite a lot of calories but I stuck to my aim of no snacks.
B. Veggie ommlette, hot cross bun, 2 coffees
L. Samosa, raspberries, orange, mini egg desert
D. Cottage pie, peas
11,000 steps

Taq · 01/02/2023 06:39

Well I’ve stuck to my calories for ages now, a couple of days over, the worst being 1957cals. But vast majority under. And I have GAINED half a kilo.

Cant understand it. I was probably eating 2500-3500 cals before. BUT I will trust to science and keep plodding on. If I keep eating less than I use then it just has to start coming off soon.

28/1 - 1672
29/1 - 1254
30/1 - 1330
31/1 - 1398

I weigh everything accurately. If I’d done this in my 20s I’d be about 5 stone by now 😂

Never mind. I will keep going!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Today is the 1st of Feb. Ideal day to get going again if you’ve fallen off 💪💪

ThatshallotBaby · 01/02/2023 09:18

@Taq Keep going. I keep thinking how long I’ve been merrily snacking, it’s not going to come off quickly.
Thank you @PartnersInCrime, I’m trying. Hungry now, but not going to eat until 11. Some days it’s fine, other days I just can’t Smile

CherryogDog · 01/02/2023 09:45

I've been really ill with a wretched cough for 3 weeks, just starting to feel better.
Lost my appetite initially for a few days, then got crazy hungry. Had 5 days of steroids which caused insomnia which always makes me crave carbs.
Back on the wagon yesterday, banana for breakfast, salad for lunch and salmon with veg for tea.
The warmer weather makes eating salad and fruit more bearable and me less carb crazy!
Weighed this morning 62.4kg.
Don't really have a target weight but just want to not wobble when I walk, my back fat needs a sports bra ATM.
Also want to fit back into jeans I mentioned up thread!
I did try using MFP ages ago, but found the calories listed varied wildly.
IE, 2 x beans on buttered toast was a different amount to 1 buttered toast x2, portion of beans x 2.
Maybe it's different now?
Also if I found myself with calories to spare in the evening I'd go and eat those calories even if I wasn't hungry.
I've got a history of eating when not hungry in case I got hungry before a meal time at work.
Hope everyone has a good day and stays motivated!

Taq · 01/02/2023 18:10

MFP can be really inaccurate because it relies on user inputted info.
Nutracheck costs £3 a month but it’s really accurate and so much easier to use!

1662 today for me, was 1426 but I’m having a bag of maltesers. Really struggled today though, and a month ago feeling like this I would have just gone ‘fuck it I’ll start again tomorrow’ and eaten 1000 calories of toast and chocolate easily. So this is progress!

The scales still have not budged!
No actually, I tell a lie….0.10kg up 🙄

How!? I have drastically cut my calorie intake. I really don’t get it, it’s so disheartening.

I’m going to cut it further and just keep going. What else can I do!? My clothes are all uncomfortably tight and look awful.

I wonder if it’s because of my age - I’ve always found it relatively straightforward to lose weight, but I’m nearer 40 than 30 now and it gets harder I suppose.

Sigh. Anyway, pity party over. Best get on with it!

That's very frustrating Taq. I find the same sometimes, it's impossible to predict how the losses go.

Cherry, I find scanning bar codes and weighing my portions the most useful way of using MFP. Then my most regularly used items are always towards the top and I get an eye for the portions so I can ease off on weighing everything. I also input my own recipes for regular dinners/baking. Eating out is always a gamble though. I had a Thai green veg curry yesterday which vould have been anything between 250 and 800 cals on mfp. I tend to aim for a mid-higher guess (i picked 600) and hope the rest of the week balances it out.

Weigh in day tomorrow 🤞

MrsDoyle351 · 02/02/2023 10:45

I hear you@Taq I will post my true weight tomorrow morning but struggling to shed much at all 😭😭. Despite eating no sugar/flour/pasta etc

gotta keep going as my knees won’t change their mind about being screwed

MrsDoyle351 · 02/02/2023 10:46

Persistence is key and failure is not an option (pep talk over)…

CandlelightGlow · 02/02/2023 17:53

Just want to chime in and agree with the "persistence is key" message. Had an awful week with PMS but am back to it now. Changing habits is an iterative process.

Taq · 02/02/2023 22:30

Thank you. Pep talk needed!!

I’m down to 1250 cals on my app now, in the hopes that it will kick start the weight loss, then I can move back to 1400 for sustained steady loss. I’ve always lost on 1400 before so 🤞🤞

Hope everyone else is having a good week!

OP posts:
Pucarbuile · 02/02/2023 22:48

Dammit, I was doing well today, at about 1500 cals (lunch out again so estimated, but i made reasonably sensible choices) but I had a pretty invasive medical test this afternoon and I'm feeling achey and sorry for myself so I just ate some delicious chocolates that I was rationing. Oh well.

MrsDoyle351 · 03/02/2023 06:45

Okay folks - honest weigh in here. 10 stone 13 lbs

Yep - exactly the same as last Friday.

I am re-doubling my efforts here and know what I need to cut back on. So watch this space for next week

Taq · 03/02/2023 06:52

Don’t worry @Pucarbuile , my calories yesterday were approx 65,428 🙄😂
Hope you’re feeling better 💐💐

@MrsDoyle351 that’s not too bad!! You will do it 💪

Im not sure I want to post my weight…I’m a very small/short little person so my ‘tips into overweight on BMI’ weight can be lower than some people’s target weight. So I don’t want to get 🤨 eyes at me..! But needless to say I am ‘overweight’ and my clothes are all tight and borderline don’t fit.

I know BMI can be a load of crap, but it seems to work on me and 22.5 BMI is when I’m at my ideal weight. Currently 25 BMI.

Calories down to 1250 today. I will do it!!

I've had a bad couple of days. Feeling anxious and eating quite badly. I have a lot of worries I can't share with anyone because it would break trust, and sometimes they prey on my mind. Onwards and upwards though.
Today I've started with a good breakfast
Banana one slice of toast and pb and a coffee plus a long child free swim booked in later.
I've forgotten to weigh and will do that tomorrow morning.

Pucarbuile · 03/02/2023 15:25

Thanks Taq 😊 I hope you enjoyed every mouthful yesterday!

That sounds stressful neverendinglaundry, hope you're OK.

Weigh in this morning was same as last week, so really I can't complain. I'm also a shortie, but for some reason don't look as fat as I am 🤔 not just me having magic mirror goggles I seem to carry weight weirdly. My goal weight should be max 60kg but it's just not realistic for me so I'm aiming for looking ok, being at an overweight but not obese bmi and being able to enjoy life, both in a being active with my family way and enjoying the odd indulgent meal/bag of crisps/bar of chocolate sort of way.

PartnersInCrime · 04/02/2023 19:55

It's hard isn't it? We went out for lunch so that threw everything out but instead of just stopping eating because I wasn't particularly hungry - I still had a toastie and a chocolate bar Blush

Back in the saddle tomorrow and definitely easier during the week!

neverendinglauaundry · 04/02/2023 22:56

Sounds like a good goal @Pucarbuile
I've done ok today, only one snack 5 lots of veg, 17000 steps and resisted having a drink.

Taq · 05/02/2023 08:17

Well since my sulk and binge I’ve had a better couple of days.
New calorie target of 1275 per day.

Friday - 1258
Saturday - 1123

Yesterday morning I was heavier again. Still not sure how 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
Going to get on the scales again now 🤞🤞

OP posts:
Taq · 05/02/2023 09:03

Half a pound off. Fucking finally 😂😂

Can I join this thread please?!
Really struggling to lose the last 12lbs of my pregnancy weight….2 years on 😂 Have found it so much harder second time around. I’m 5”2 with a fairly sedentary job and TDE calculator has come out at 1250kcals a day for me to lose weight….seems so low!
Using nutracheck to count calories so will see how I get on.
